DBD Patch Notes: 10.2.2 Live Changes and the 10.3.0 Preview

The latest released DBD patch notes are 10.2.2, published on 20 October 2026. Behaviour’s 22 October community recap then added a separate matchmaking correction and a preview of 10.3.0. Those are three different things: a released client patch, a server-side adjustment, and changes announced for a future update.

This guide separates what applies to your matches now from what BHVR is planning next. It covers Dark Arrogance, every 10.2.2 bug-fix category, the confirmed Lights Out dates, and the six perks named in the 10.3.0 preview. Checked 24 October 2026.

Quick answer: 10.2.2 is the latest released patch found in BHVR’s official feed. Dark Arrogance currently gives a flat 10% shorter basic-attack cooldown on all outcomes. BHVR has also corrected Survivor Altruism’s MMR contribution server-side. The 10.3.0 perk and Mori changes below are a preview, not live patch notes.

What is live in the latest DBD patch notes?

Use this status table before changing a build. A number printed in a developer preview does not replace the current perk description.

Sources: BHVR’s 10.2.2 patch notes and the October Community Stream Recap. The recap does not provide a release day for 10.3.0. It describes 10.4.0 as coming in January; in this October 2026 preview, that means January 2027.

How does Dark Arrogance work in 10.2.2?

The Lich in an official Dead by Daylight screenshot

Dark Arrogance’s live 10.2.2 effects are straightforward:

  • Basic Window vaults are 15/20/25% faster.
  • Basic-attack cooldown is 10% shorter, whether the attack misses, is obstructed or hits.
  • Blind and Pallet-stun duration is 25% longer.

The attack-cooldown benefit is the same at every perk tier. Only the Window-vault bonus scales across the three tiers. Do not read the slash-separated vault numbers as three different attack-cooldown values.

BHVR explains the reversal directly: “The team has heard the feedback that the PTB to Live change for Dark Arrogance was an overcorrection.” Its developer note then explicitly lists missed, obstructed and successful attacks as the outcomes covered by the smaller reduction.

Is the live change a buff or a nerf?

Compared with the 10.2.0 live version, successful hits gain a benefit, while misses lose cooldown reduction. At Tier III, the missed-attack reduction falls from 25% to 10%. The 25% blind-and-stun penalty remains.

That is why two players can describe the same patch differently. Someone choosing the perk for missed swings loses value; someone choosing it for successful-hit recovery gains an effect that the previous live version did not provide. Neither observation establishes that the perk is automatically best for every Killer.

How does it compare with Unrelenting now?

The 10.2.0 live notes give Unrelenting 30/35/40% shorter missed basic-attack cooldown, including obstructed attacks, and 10% shorter successful basic-attack cooldown.

Live perkSuccessful hitMissed attackMain trade-off
Dark Arrogance, 10.2.210% shorter cooldown10% shorter cooldownFaster Window vaults, but longer blinds and Pallet stuns
Unrelenting, 10.2.0 onward10% shorter cooldown30/35/40% shorter cooldownNo Window-vault bonus or listed blind/stun penalty

Our practical read: if attack recovery is your only reason for the slot, Unrelenting has the clearer current case. Dark Arrogance needs its Window-vault benefit to justify the downside. This is a comparison of the published effects, not a claim about measured win rates or the final result of stacking perks. See the Unrelenting, Fire Up and Distressing guide for the wider rework.

Which perk changes are announced for 10.3.0?

BHVR’s 22 October recap names six perks. These are future adjustments, not effects to expect in today’s 10.2.2 matches.

PerkAnnounced 10.3.0 directionWhat not to assume
Calm SpiritAction Speed bonus increases to 25%Not a universal 25% bonus to every Survivor action
Dark SenseToken system to bank activationsThe recap does not specify a token cap
Dark ArroganceSuccessful-hit cooldown benefit to 15%; Window Vault Speed to 15%; penalties to 15%, with BHVR “adding Missed Basic Attack cooldown to penalties”Not a return to the old PTB at full strength
RavenousExposed duration reduced to 70 secondsNot a live 10.2.2 change
Slippery MeatUnhook Speed to 75%, Haste to 7%The two changes move different parts of the perk in opposite directions
WhispersHaste increases to 7%No claim that all other activation conditions change

The most easily misread line is Dark Arrogance. The recap groups missed basic-attack cooldown with the penalties, not the successful-hit bonus. It describes an effort to capture the PTB feeling without making the perk too strong. Until detailed notes arrive, keep that direction separate from a complete perk description or a stacking calculation.

Dark Sense is similarly incomplete: “bank” means unused opportunities are being addressed through tokens, but it does not tell us how many activations can be stored. Publishing an invented cap would turn a useful preview into bad build advice.

The current broader perk changes remain covered in our 10.2.0 perk breakdown. That cycle tested 58 perks on the PTB; Borrowed Time was reverted before launch. Do not carry the test-server count into a claim that all 58 changes shipped live.

What is changing about Moris and backend balancing?

The same recap outlines three Mori categories:

Planned categoryTrigger and purposeLength described by BHVR
Finisher MoriKills the final Survivor and ends the matchLonger and more cinematic
Power MoriTriggered by certain Killer powersShort
Short MoriTriggered by perks and offeringsShort

BHVR says all three use the Attack button, but the rollout happens over time. Older Killers will initially use their current animation for both Finisher and Short Mori situations. This is not a promise that every Killer receives a new short animation in 10.3.0.

The backend-tunables section also explains a different delivery route for balance changes: adjustments to live content without waiting for a client patch. BHVR names faster charging, more range and a snappier feel for The Executioner, plus Power cooldown and Zealous duration work for The Judgment. It gives no numerical values for these examples in the recap.

Treat those examples as upcoming work, not as proof that your current Killer has already received a buff or nerf. BHVR says the system initially focuses largely on Killer adjustments and base-game numbers. Support for add-ons, perks and items is a future ambition, not a claim that every value is already remotely adjustable.

Did matchmaking change without a new patch?

Yes. The October recap says Survivor Altruism was contributing less MMR than intended and that BHVR increased its contribution earlier that week. It does not identify an exact day or publish the weighting.

That correction is separate from the 10.3.0 preview. BHVR says the broader system changed in 10.1.0: kills and escapes still matter, but actions that progress the game now contribute too. The recap describes these with “think, emblems,” without publishing a formula that converts an Emblem score into MMR points.

Four rules are explicitly unchanged:

  • Killers retain individual MMR ratings.
  • Survivors share their MMR rating.
  • Matchmaking prioritizes waiting time over exact rating matches.
  • Rating gains and losses compare Killers and Survivors within the match.

A fresh player discussion describes matchmaking as uneven, but a small Reddit sample cannot establish whether the correction caused a particular streak. Likewise, the announcement does not prove that one rescue guarantees a rating increase, or that dying can never cost MMR. Use the confirmed system description, not a guessed point calculator. Our DBD MMR explainer covers the broader matching questions.

Which bugs does 10.2.2 fix?

The official notes contain 22 bug-fix lines. That is a line count, not 22 distinct issues: The Dark Lord’s Lights Out Bat-form lullaby appears in two sections. Here is the full grouped checklist from BHVR’s notes.

Audio: four lines

  • Missing flesh-hit audio for basic attacks from several Killers, including Nemesis, Cenobite, Onryo and Dark Lord.
  • Dark Lord’s lullaby remaining audible in Bat form during Lights Out.
  • Krasue’s missing intestinal-whip sound when opening Portals or teleporting in Head form during Haunted by Daylight.
  • Incorrect locker-grab stinger when certain Killers grab a Survivor vaulting a Window or Pallet.

Characters: three lines

  • Mikaela’s hands clipping through an outfit’s dress; the published notes leave the outfit name blank.
  • A2’s hair bending while screaming.
  • A gap between Snug and a grabbed Survivor.

Environment and maps: five lines

  • Invisible projectile collision around Nostromo Wreckage’s meeting table.
  • One side of a Pale Rose Generator being inaccessible for interaction.
  • An offset Treatment Theatre door frame.
  • Missing collision on Badham Preschool bushes.
  • A rare map-generation crash.

UI, miscellaneous and Haunted by Daylight: three lines

  • A matchmaking timer starting prematurely and continuing after queueing stops.
  • A loading crash on some platforms.
  • Void Haunts passing through breakable walls.

Lights Out: seven lines

  • Dark Lord’s Bat-form lullaby, repeated from Audio.
  • Uncommon/Common items appearing in Chests.
  • Lantern visual effects lingering after quick locker entry and exit.
  • Survivors clipping through Generators when placing Lanterns.
  • Treatment Theatre spawning only 10 Chests.
  • Incorrect Lantern holding while injured.
  • Incorrect Lantern position when opening an Exit Gate.

The notes do not specify the corrected Treatment Theatre Chest total. The “10” describes the bug, not the intended final count. They also contain an A2 hair fix, not a listed 2B appearance adjustment; absence from the list should not be exaggerated into proof about every unlisted aspect of the live client.

When is Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition?

Archival official Lights Out Castlevania artwork, not the 2026 Stranger Things edition

Archival image: the 2024 Castlevania edition. It illustrates the modifier, not the rewards or branding of the upcoming Stranger Things edition.

BHVR confirms 5–12 November 2026 in the 10.2.2 notes. Its exact wording is: “Event will run from November 5th - November 12th. Check out the available quests for rewards!” No start hour is printed there.

The same notes mention Lantern interactions and Chests, so those are supported features to discuss. They do not provide a complete quest list or reward table. Do not turn the fixes into a promised reward checklist, and do not assume every rule of an older Lights Out edition carries over unchanged.

For the current seasonal event rather than the next modifier, use our Haunted by Daylight guide. Keeping those two event windows separate is particularly important when a search result mixes October screenshots with November announcements.

What should you check before changing your build?

Start with the version your information describes. A screenshot labelled 10.2.0 PTB, a 10.2.2 live description and a 10.3.0 preview can all contain different Dark Arrogance numbers without any screenshot being fabricated.

Then separate a published effect from a prediction. The six-perk table tells you what BHVR announced; it does not establish which perk will become mandatory. The backend section tells you what the team wants to adjust; it does not reveal unpublished cooldown values. The MMR correction tells you Altruism was increased; it does not explain every uneven lobby.
