The wait for "GTA 6 Trailer 3" is over — just not under that name. On October 15, 2026, Rockstar dropped the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer with zero warning: 90 seconds of Jason's army past, a bank vault, a helicopter heist, a shower scene, and a brand-new song from Justice. It is the third full trailer after Trailer 1 and Trailer 2, and it pulled 37.9 million views on Rockstar's main YouTube channel in its first two days. This page used to track when the next trailer would land; it now breaks down what's in it, split cleanly into what Rockstar actually showed and what fans are guessing.
Quick answer (TLDR): GTA 6's third trailer released Thursday, October 15, 2026, officially titled the "Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer" (Rockstar never used the name "Trailer 3"). It runs 90 seconds, is set to "Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice feat. Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Rockstar confirmed Justice is composing the game's original score. Biggest confirmed reveals: Jason left the army "not on the best of terms," a vault heist, a helicopter cargo-net mission, a DacityCoin crypto biplane, and Jason & Lucia's apartment. The game still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with preload from November 12. No further trailer has been announced.
Is GTA 6 Trailer 3 out?
Yes. The trailer fans spent all summer calling "Trailer 3" arrived on October 15, 2026, and Rockstar's own title for it is the Launch Trailer. It went live on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel, on rockstargames.com/VI and in a Rockstar Newswire post. Kotaku noted that Rockstar "dropped GTA 6's launch trailer online without any teasing," which fits the studio's habit of surprise drops.
Here's where it sits in the full run of official videos:
| Video | Release date | Length | YouTube views (Rockstar channel, checked Oct 18, 2026 00:35 MSK) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | Dec 4, 2023 | 1:31 | 298.5M |
| Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | 2:47 | 184.9M |
| An Extended Look (Netflix premiere) | Aug 27, 2026 | ~26 min | n/a (Netflix first) |
| Launch Trailer | Oct 15, 2026 | 1:30 | 37.9M in ~2 days |
The view counts are YouTube's public counters on the official Rockstar Games uploads, read on October 18, 2026 at 00:35 Moscow time (they climb every hour); the UK & Ireland channel's copy of the Launch Trailer adds another 9.9 million. The August video was a long-form gameplay showcase rather than a trailer (DualShockers describes it as the 26-minute Extended Look), which is why most fans count the Launch Trailer as Trailer 3. Our full write-up of that August showcase is in GTA 6: An Extended Look.
What song is in the GTA 6 launch trailer?
The song is "Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar's own description on the trailer page reads:
"Check out the Launch Trailer, featuring the debut of 'Flower in a Hurricane' from original score composers Justice feat. Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard." — Rockstar Games, rockstargames.com/VI
Three confirmed facts come with it:
- Justice composed GTA 6's original score. This was announced alongside the trailer, so the French duo isn't just licensing one song. They're writing the in-game score.
- The single is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube, per VICE.
- It's on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which the official album site lists at 34 original tracks "that capture the electric energy of Grand Theft Auto VI's world of Vice City and Leonida." The album is up for pre-order on vinyl and CD.
The album isn't the same thing as the in-game radio. We cover the radio stations separately in GTA 6 radio stations & soundtrack.
What did the launch trailer confirm about Jason?
The trailer opens on Jason's own explanation of how he ended up in crime. As transcribed by Kotaku:
"I got in trouble in the army. Didn't leave on the best of terms. They don't give loans or anything to people like me." — Jason Duval, GTA VI Launch Trailer
What the footage actually shows:
- A U.S. Army shirt. Jason wears a "U.S. Army" tee in the scene with Lucia by the car. IGN's frame-by-frame also reads "North Fort Law" and "Marauder" on it. North Fort Law is a callback to the base in the original 1997 GTA.
- A day job at Brian's Marina. Jason is shown buffing a boat at a marina with a big "BRIAN'S MARINA" sign out front. He starts the story as a laborer, not as a kingpin.
- Military-grade crime. Jason wades through water at night with night-vision goggles and a suppressed rifle, rides a helicopter in a plate carrier, and walks away from a burning helicopter in another shot.
- Returning and newly shown supporting characters. Cal (Jason's buddy, seen with a pet snake), the rap duo Real Dimez and bank robber Raul Bautista return, and VCPD officer Mendez gets a brief shot, per IGN.
What's still fan theory: the night-time infiltration with two other men looks to many viewers like a flashback to Jason's service. Rockstar hasn't said whether it's a flashback or a present-day job, so treat both readings as guesses. The full character dossier lives in GTA 6 characters: Jason & Lucia.
What heists and missions does the launch trailer show?
This is the most gameplay-relevant part of the trailer. On-screen:
- A bank vault job. Lucia walks through a round vault door into a vault full of swirling banknotes. IGN matched it to a screenshot it debuted in August.
- Crews. Lucia works the vault with a masked partner who isn't Jason. Another shot shows gunmen disguised as construction workers. Heists clearly involve more than the two leads, but Rockstar hasn't said whether crew members are story characters or hireable NPCs like GTA 5's heist crews.
- A helicopter cargo-net sequence. Lucia, in tactical black, fires a grenade launcher at chasing police while hanging from a cargo net under a helicopter. Moments later a helicopter drags a huge net load into a skyscraper and glass explodes outward. IGN reads these as one mission; the trailer edit doesn't prove that.
- An airliner stunt. Lucia leaps from a car toward a commercial jet. IGN links it to the plane-hold fight from Trailer 2.
- A sniper takedown. Jason scopes a helicopter, and an explosion follows in a separate shot.
All of this lines up with what we already knew about GTA 6 robberies. Our read, not Rockstar's wording: heists look like a core part of the story, not side content. Rumored, not confirmed: payouts, crew-cut percentages, and how many heists there are. Rockstar has published none of that, and any number you see is invented.
What new vehicles, places and brands appear?
- The Keys open the trailer. One of the first shots is a roadside "The Keys" sign, pointing at Leonida's island chain. That region has its own page: GTA 6 Leonida Keys.
- A lime-green supercar police chase through a Vice City street, with a VCPD cruiser closing in.
- The Invetero Coquette gets a split-second cameo in a turquoise-and-pink synthwave paint job, per IGN.
- The Shasa boat is the one Jason and Cal are polishing at the marina.
- Off-road cop cars from Mariana County, the county that contains the Keys, chase a suspect through scrub, per IGN.
- Globe Oil (a GTA IV / Chinatown Wars brand) shows up on a truck, and Schlott Construction signage appears on a building site.
- Street racing returns. It was first seen in the Extended Look.
Every confirmed car from all four videos is tracked in GTA 6 confirmed cars & vehicles.
What is DacityCoin in GTA 6?
- A biplane branded "DacityCoin" buzzes the crowded Vice City beach with a man hanging off the wing, trailing pink smoke.
Confirmed: the brand exists in-game and gets a prominent shot. Not confirmed: what it does. IGN's theory is that DacityCoin is a Bitcoin parody tied to a scam storyline. That fits GTA's satire, but Rockstar hasn't said there's a crypto mechanic, a tradable currency, or a mission built around it. Don't believe any "GTA 6 crypto investing" guide yet. Nobody outside Rockstar knows how it works.
What else did the launch trailer show?
- A new beach-view apartment. Jason and Lucia share a balcony overlooking the beach. It's a step up from the modest home in the Extended Look. That may mean safehouses improve as the story goes on, but Rockstar hasn't described any housing progression.
- An on-screen intimate scene. The two share a shower scene. Kotaku called it "sex in the shower" and noted it's a first for a GTA trailer. The game is rated ESRB Mature 17+, and the trailer page lists "Strong Sexual Content" and "Nudity" among the descriptors (see our age rating breakdown).
- Lucia's ankle monitor is still visible (IGN spotted it in the shower shot), so her legal-trouble thread from the earlier trailers carries on.
Smaller touches: an iguana crossing the road (GTA 6 has an animal-spotting system), a gym-goer showing off the much-discussed sweat tech, and Jason slipping on brass knuckles. The trailer also opens with a "Plays best on PS5" card, a reminder of Sony's marketing deal, which is a marketing partnership and not exclusivity. Xbox Series X/S still launches the same day (details here).
Will there be another GTA 6 trailer before launch?
Rockstar hasn't announced one. Here's what we actually know:
- In August, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry.biz the Extended Look was "one of the hors d'oeuvres," adding "There's appetizers, main course and dessert to follow" (as reported by Notebookcheck).
- On r/GTA6 this week, a thread quoting Zelnick's "dessert" line drew more than 100 comments, and several replies argued the Launch Trailer is the dessert. One commenter expected "a few clips/TV spots etc. screenshots here and there" before release rather than another big gameplay reveal. That's community expectation, not a Rockstar statement, and others pushed back that people said the same after the Extended Look.
- The Digital Foundry breakdown thread focused on a subtle fix to animation pacing, a camera-motion hitch that has been in Rockstar games since GTA IV. Plenty of commenters admitted they couldn't see it even after watching repeatedly.
Our call: don't wait on another trailer. Next up are the fixed dates: preload on November 12 and launch on November 19. See GTA 6 release time & unlock countdown and GTA 6 preload: when you can download.
