Salvage and route-stacked hauling are the fastest ways to make aUEC in Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.1 (LIVE since September 16, 2026), with community trade trackers putting a well-run RMC salvage or a stacked cargo run at roughly 1 million aUEC per hour or more. But the real answer to "why am I broke" is almost never the loop — it's reputation gating, cargo you paid for and lost, and the wipe you didn't plan around. This guide ranks the live 4.10.1 money loops, gives honest per-hour ranges with the exact caveats, and links our deep-dive guide for each one.
Key takeaways (Alpha 4.10.1)
- Fastest ceilings: salvage (RMC hull-scraping) and route-stacked hauling both clear ~1M+ aUEC/hour once you have the ship and reputation.
- Highest solo ceiling: mining Quantanium out-earns almost everything per hour — but it's volatile and one bad quantum jump wipes the haul.
- aUEC is wipeable test currency. CIG can zero every balance at a patch with no reimbursement — Alpha 4.8 (May 14, 2026) was a full wipe. Do not treat a balance as a durable asset.
- Never buy aUEC or a boosted account. RSI's Terms of Service ban selling in-game currency, power-leveling, and account transfers — it's a bannable violation, not a shortcut.
What actually gates your earnings in 4.10.1
Before you pick a loop, understand the three things that actually decide how fast you earn — because switching loops won't fix any of them.
Reputation gating. The high-paying contracts — senior hauling routes, high-tier bounties, the best salvage and mining contracts — are locked behind reputation you grind at lower rates first. This is the honest answer to "why can't I earn like the YouTube videos." You are not doing it wrong; you have not unlocked the good contracts yet.
Cargo capital risk. Trading and bought-cargo hauling mean spending aUEC up front on goods. A single 30k (server disconnect) or a pirate can vaporize a hold you paid for. Alpha builds crash. Never fly cargo you can't afford to lose, and read our 30k error and connection-code guide so a timeout doesn't cost you a full hold.
Crew multipliers. Multi-crew salvage and large-hauler runs scale hard with a second player loading and operating. Solo numbers and crewed numbers are not the same headline — most viral "per hour" figures assume an optimized crew.
And the one rule that overrides all of them: rates change every patch, and a wipe can zero your balance. The 4.10.1 economy is not the 4.9 economy, which is why this guide is patch-stamped and our older 4.9 money guide is not the current answer.
The fastest aUEC loops in Alpha 4.10.1, ranked
Every number below is a community-reported range as of Alpha 4.10.1 (from trade trackers and player guides, which are frequently optimistic and assume ideal reputation, routes, and crew). Treat them as ceilings to work toward, not guarantees. CIG does not publish official aUEC/hour figures.

1. Salvage — the best risk-adjusted loop
Salvage is the loop most players should start with because it carries no cargo capital risk: you're not buying stock, you're scraping hulls into Recycled Material Composite (RMC) and selling it. As of Alpha 4.10.1, community trade trackers report RMC selling for roughly 5,000–8,500 aUEC per SCU depending on location — around 7,100 aUEC/unit at the Orison Cloudview Center TDD in Stanton (the safe option) and up to ~7,700 aUEC/unit at Pyro locations like Endgame and Patch City (higher pay, higher danger). A crewed session with the right salvager clears roughly a million aUEC an hour once you're rolling.
Start in an ARGO RAFT or a Drake Vulture; graduate to an Aegis Reclaimer when you want the ceiling. The full ship-and-contract breakdown is in our Star Citizen salvage guide.
2. Hauling — highest ceiling if you stack routes
Hauling pays the most for the least combat skill, and the trick is route stacking: accept several delivery contracts that share a corridor and complete them in one loop instead of one at a time. Player guides report a well-loaded RAFT or Hull-B pulling around 1 to 1.5 million aUEC per hour, with newly optimized planetary hauling contracts cited around 900k+ aUEC/hour.
Two 4.10-era caveats matter. First, cargo is now spread across the pickup markers the contract actually gives you (4.10.1 fixed the old single-stack behavior), so plan your route around multiple stops. Second, you carry the capital risk — a lost hold is lost aUEC. Ship choices and the best contract types are in our hauling guide.
3. Mining — the highest solo ceiling, and the most volatile
Done well, mining out-earns hauling and salvage per hour solo, because the top ore — Quantanium — carries an enormous per-SCU refined value. That's also the catch: Quantanium is unstable, it can detonate if you mishandle temperature, and a bad quantum jump or a 30k can lose the haul. It rewards patience and a good scanning route, not luck.
Ship mining (Prospector, MOLE) and ground/ROC mining are separate skill trees; pick based on whether you want to fly to rocks or drive to them. Our Alpha 4.10.1 mining guide covers ore priorities, refinery timing, and the ships worth flying.
4. Trading — steady, capital-scaling, all-risk
Commodity trading is buying low at one station and selling high at another. It scales with how much aUEC you can put at risk and it's the most passive loop, but every unit is bought stock — it has the highest capital risk of any loop, since a disconnect or pirate hit loses money you already spent. It's a good compounding loop once you have a buffer you can afford to lose. Current corridors are in our best trade routes guide.
5. Bounty hunting — combat-gated, reputation-heavy
Bounties pay moderately and scale with your combat rating and reputation tier, so the early grind is slow. It's the most fun loop if you like ship combat and it pairs well with owning a capable fighter — see our best combat ship ranking for 4.10.1 and the full bounty hunting guide.
Don't forget the live event: Orison Relief Support
Alpha 4.10.1 ships with Orison Relief Support, a time-limited event of contracts to rebuild Orison after the Siege of Orison. Its rewards work differently from a normal money loop: every contract feeds a personal progress track rather than paying out in isolation, and the six tiered rewards are granted as finished weapons and armor sets, not blueprints to craft. It won't make you a millionaire, but it's guaranteed gear for playing the current content — and it disappears when 4.10.2 lands. Full walkthrough in our Orison Relief Support guide.
The wipe reality — why "banked" aUEC isn't an asset
Here's the part every "make millions fast" video skips. aUEC is test currency. In CIG's own words on the wiki: "aUEC, and anything purchased with it, can be wiped at any point so that a clean slate can be instituted to begin a new cycle of testing," and "players cannot be reimbursed aUEC if lost due to a crash or bugs."
The wipe history proves it's not theoretical: 4.6 and 4.7 were no-wipe, then Alpha 4.8 on May 14, 2026 was a full wipe — aUEC balances and in-game-acquired ships were all lost. Alpha 4.9, 4.10, and 4.10.1 have been no-wipe, so what you earn now persists forward for the moment. But a full wipe lands roughly every few majors with limited notice.
The editorial consequence for how you play: earn for the ship or gear you want now, not for a number you're hoarding. Pledged (real-money) ships are account-bound and survive wipes; aUEC and aUEC-bought ships do not.
Do NOT buy aUEC — it's a Terms of Service violation
Search "star citizen make money fast" and you'll hit sites selling aUEC or "leveled" accounts. Don't. RSI's Terms of Service, Rules of Conduct, explicitly prohibit "gathering in-game virtual, items or resources for sale outside the Game," "performing in-game services in exchange for payment outside the Game, e.g., power-leveling," and selling Virtual Goods such as ships or "Game credits." Selling or transferring your RSI account is also banned.
Advertising or buying such a sale — on RSI or on a third-party site — is itself a listed violation, and penalties are at RSI's discretion and include account termination with no compensation. There is no "safe" gray-market aUEC. The fast, legitimate money is the loops above. Play them.
FAQ
What is the fastest way to make aUEC in Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.1? Salvage (RMC hull-scraping) and route-stacked hauling are the fastest reliable loops, both reported at roughly 1 million aUEC per hour or more with the right ship and reputation. Mining Quantanium has the highest solo ceiling but is the most volatile. All figures are community-reported for Alpha 4.10.1 and change every patch.
How much is RMC worth in 4.10.1? Community trade trackers report Recycled Material Composite selling for roughly 5,000–8,500 aUEC per SCU depending on location — around 7,100 aUEC/unit at the Orison Cloudview Center TDD in Stanton, and up to ~7,700 aUEC/unit at higher-risk Pyro locations. Prices drift with balance patches, so check a live commodity tracker before selling.
Can I buy aUEC to skip the grind? No. Buying aUEC, buying a boosted account, or paying for power-leveling all violate RSI's Terms of Service and risk account termination with no compensation. aUEC can only be legitimately earned in-game.
Will my aUEC get wiped? It can. aUEC is test currency that CIG can wipe at any patch with no reimbursement — Alpha 4.8 was a full wipe. Alpha 4.9, 4.10, and 4.10.1 were no-wipe, but never treat a balance as a permanent asset. Pledged ships survive wipes; aUEC-bought ships do not.
Is my old 4.9 money strategy still valid? Partly. The loop categories are the same, but 4.10 and 4.10.1 changed fuel prices, contract structure, and drop rates, and 4.10.1 fixed at least one earning exploit. Use current, patch-stamped numbers — not a 4.9 guide — and re-check per-hour figures against the live economy.
Do I need to spend real money to make aUEC? You need a Game Package to play (a one-time buy, cheapest around $45 with a small starting balance), but no real money is required to earn aUEC — every loop above is earned entirely in-game. There is no active Free Fly window as of late September 2026; the next is expected around IAE in November.
