Quick answer (TLDR): There are two official GTA 6 controllers, and both are PS5 DualSense pads made by Sony: the DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition and the White Limited Edition. Each costs $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480 and launches November 19, 2026, the same day as the game (PlayStation Blog, Sep 3, 2026). Pre-orders opened September 10 on direct.playstation.com. The White pad is also sold at participating retailers worldwide. The Black pad is a PlayStation Direct exclusive wherever PS Direct operates. As of October 22, 2026 there is no official GTA 6 PS5 console bundle, no GTA 6 Xbox controller, and no confirmed keyboard & mouse support on console.
Want a GTA 6 controller, or a PS5 to play it on? With 28 days to launch and preload opening November 12, people keep asking the same three things: which limited DualSense to get, whether Sony is about to drop a GTA 6 PS5 bundle, and whether you can skip the pad and use a keyboard and mouse. Below is what Sony and Rockstar have actually confirmed, what they haven't, and the cheapest way to be ready on day one.
What are the official GTA 6 controllers?
Two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers, revealed by Sony at the September 3, 2026 State of Play. Their full retail names are:
- DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition
- DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition
Both share the same design language. Here's how Sony describes it on the PlayStation Blog:
"Both editions feature a shimmering, color-shifting finish that brings together the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon lights." — Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation Blog (September 3, 2026)
Sony adds that both have custom palm tree details molded directly into the controller, which you can feel as well as see, plus official GTA VI branding on the touchpad.
How much does the GTA 6 controller cost?
$84.99 in the US. Sony set one recommended price for both colours:
| Region | Price (each) |
|---|---|
| United States | $84.99 |
| Eurozone | €84.99 |
| United Kingdom | £74.99 |
| Japan | ¥12,480 (incl. tax) |
Source: PlayStation Blog. In the UK that's a £10 premium over a standard DualSense, which Radio Times lists at £64.99 on PlayStation Direct.
Add the game and you're at $164.98 for a Standard Edition + controller, or $184.98 with the Ultimate Edition. Those totals use the $79.99 / $99.99 edition prices on the US PlayStation Store, checked on October 22. Our GTA 6 pre-order and editions guide breaks down which edition is worth it.
Black vs White: which GTA 6 controller should you buy?
The hardware is the same. The real differences are the colourway and where you can buy it.
| Black Limited Edition | White Limited Edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Theme (per Sony) | "Vice City's iconic nightlife" | "Vice City at daybreak" |
| Where sold | Exclusively via direct.playstation.com where PS Direct exists. Select retailers elsewhere | direct.playstation.com + participating retailers globally |
| Price | $84.99 / £74.99 | $84.99 / £74.99 |
| Release | November 19, 2026 | November 19, 2026 |
| Quantities | Limited | Limited |
Our pick:
- Collector, in a PS Direct country → Black. It's the harder one to get, since in PS Direct regions it isn't sold anywhere else.
- You just want one on launch day → White. More shops carry it, so you get more chances if one store sells out.
Where can you buy the GTA 6 controller, and is it sold out?
Pre-orders opened on September 10, 2026 at 7:00am PT / 10:00am ET in the US, and 10:00am local time in Europe, through direct.playstation.com. Sony lists 10 PS Direct countries: the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy and Austria. In Portugal, pre-orders go through playstation.com/store/hardware. Eligible PS Direct pre-orders also get free launch-day delivery.
Stock right now: when we checked the US PlayStation Direct listings on October 22, 2026, both GTA VI controller pages showed "Currently Unavailable." Sony only ever promised "limited quantities," so expect stock to come and go in waves. Our advice:
- Keep checking PS Direct. "Currently Unavailable" means no stock right now, not that the product is gone.
- For the White edition, check retailers too. Sony confirmed participating retailers will carry it.
- Don't overpay scalpers. At launch you'll get the same haptics, triggers and speaker from a standard DualSense. The limited pad is purely cosmetic.
Sony also notes the launch date and availability "may vary by country/region."
Does the GTA 6 controller do anything special in the game?
No. Any DualSense gets the same GTA 6 features. The limited editions are cosmetic. The features come from the game's PS5 support, which works with every DualSense. The official PlayStation GTA VI page lists:
- Haptic feedback that reacts to your choices and to "environmental factors" across Leonida
- Adaptive triggers with "dynamic resistance throughout the game"
- The integrated speaker, which plays sound effects for key moments, "often enhanced by immersive haptic feedback"
- Tempest 3D Audio and fast loading from the PS5 SSD
- PS5 Pro Enhanced and Remote Play supported
As Sony put it when it announced the PS5 partnership:
"The controller's haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance." — PlayStation Blog, "Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PS5 November 19" (June 24, 2026)
One detail from the PlayStation Direct listing: haptic feedback and adaptive triggers "may require USB connection" on PC, Mac and mobile, and the controller ships without a USB cable. On a PS5 it works wirelessly as normal. If you want to compare the PS5 versions, see is the PS5 Pro worth it for GTA 6 and GTA 6 60 FPS: is there a performance mode.
Is there a GTA 6 PS5 bundle?
No. As of October 22, 2026, neither Sony nor Rockstar has announced a GTA 6 PS5 bundle. People search for it about 4,500 times a month (Google Keyword Planner, US: "ps5 gta 6 bundle" 2,900 + "gta 6 ps5 bundle" 1,600). So far it doesn't exist.
What has been announced:
- The two limited DualSense controllers above. When they were revealed, IGN noted that "no such thing" as a console bundle "was confirmed by Sony or Rockstar."
- A Japan-only PS5 Digital Edition in Midnight Black, launching November 19, 2026 for ¥55,000, with a matching Midnight Black disc drive for ¥11,980. As Metro reported from the Japanese PlayStation Blog, it's region-locked to Japanese PSN accounts. It also isn't GTA-branded and doesn't include the game.
Could a bundle still appear? Possibly, but it's getting late. Metro called the missing bundle "odd" and said it "could still be announced in the run-up to launch." Treat any "GTA 6 PS5 bundle" listing you see before Sony announces one as a retailer combo: the console and the game sold together, not an official bundle.
What to do instead: buy the console you want now and pre-order the game separately. Pre-ordering also gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, plus a 7-day preload on PlayStation Store. PlayStation's GTA VI page says you need to buy before November 20, 2026 to get the pre-order bonuses (details in our pre-order bonus guide).
Is there a GTA 6 Xbox controller?
Not that we can find. Both GTA VI controllers are Sony DualSense pads. We found no GTA-themed Xbox Wireless Controller from Microsoft or Rockstar as of October 22, 2026. Rockstar's own GTA VI site lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for November 19, and labels PS5 as where the game "Plays Best." On Xbox you'll use a standard Xbox Wireless Controller or any licensed pad. Weighing up the two consoles? Read GTA 6 on PS5 vs Xbox Series X.
Can you play GTA 6 with keyboard and mouse on PS5 or Xbox?
Not confirmed, and the evidence so far points to no at launch. This is one of the most-asked GTA 6 questions on Reddit. In this week's r/GTA6 thread on it, the most common reply was that GTA 5 never got native keyboard & mouse support on console, so players doubt GTA 6 will. Others said they'd stick with a controller anyway for the haptics. What we can verify:
| Check | What it shows (as of Oct 22, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Official PlayStation GTA VI page | Lists DualSense vibration & trigger effect, Remote Play, PS5 Pro Enhanced. No keyboard/mouse feature listed |
| Xbox Store "Capabilities" for GTA VI | "Single player" and "Optimized for Xbox Series X/S" only. No "Mouse & keyboard" capability tag |
| Rockstar statements | None on console keyboard & mouse |
| PC version | Not launching November 19. See our GTA 6 PC release breakdown |
Two practical notes:
- Both consoles support USB keyboards and mice at system level, but each game has to switch support on. Plugging one in won't make GTA 6 aim with it unless Rockstar adds it.
- Adapters that disguise a mouse as a controller (some players mention XIM-type devices) are third-party hardware that Rockstar doesn't officially support. Use one at your own risk, especially in any online mode.
If keyboard & mouse matters more to you than launch day, the honest answer is to wait for the PC version.
How do you get ready for GTA 6 on day one?
- Nov 12: preload opens (7 days before launch). Clear space first; see GTA 6 file size and storage.
- Nov 19: game and both limited controllers launch.
- Before Nov 20: buy the game to keep the pre-order bonuses (Vintage Vice City Pack + one month of GTA+).
- Controller: any DualSense gets the full GTA 6 haptics and triggers. Only pay the $84.99 if you want the Vice City look.
Not sure your old PS4 or Switch will do? It won't: GTA 6 is PS5 and Xbox Series X/S only.
Controller sorted and 28 days to go? Spend them in Los Santos. Get your GTA Online character, cash and garage where you want them before November 19.
- GTA 5 Money: fast & safe: top up your GTA$ for properties, cars and businesses
- GTA 5 Account Boost: levels, RP and unlocks
- GTA 5 Modded Cars: rare rides, delivered
