HSR Pure Fiction 4.6 is called Imagined Words, and it is a debuff rotation. Every debuff your team lands feeds the Grit gauge, enemies with four or more debuffs take extra damage, and two of the three Cacophony buffs reward follow-up attacks and Elation Skills. This guide covers what changed, which buff to pick on each Node, the Stage 4 and Starward bosses, and the teams players actually used to clear it in the first week.
Quick answer (Version 4.6, checked October 24, 2026, 05:45 UTC):
- Runs: October 19, 2026 04:00 to November 30, 2026 03:59 (server time), per the official Version 4.6 update notice. About 36 days remain.
- Core rule: each debuff you inflict adds 1 Grit, up to 10 times per enemy. Concordant Truce cuts enemy Effect RES by 30%.
- Best buffs: Toccata (+40% Ultimate and follow-up DMG) for follow-up, Remembrance and Himeko • Nova teams. Mirthful Cadence for Elation teams. Fugato for DoT.
- Stage 4 bosses: Flame Reaver of the Deepest Dark (Node 1, bring Ice or Imaginary), Alloy Mechatron: King Pom-Pom (Node 2, Fire or Imaginary). Starward adds Argenti (Node 3, Physical or Ice).
- Rewards: 800 Stellar Jade for all 12 stars, plus 100 more for the Starward Prismatic Star at 99,000 points.
When does Pure Fiction 4.6 reset?
Imagined Words opened on October 19, 2026 at 04:00 server time and closes on November 30, 2026 at 03:59 server time. It keeps running through the Version 4.7 update expected on November 11, so the patch does not reset your progress. Server time is UTC+8 on Asia, UTC+1 on Europe and UTC-5 on America, which gives these real closing times:
| Server | Opened | Closes | Closes in UTC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asia, TW/HK/MO | Oct 19, 04:00 (UTC+8) | Nov 30, 03:59 (UTC+8) | Nov 29, 19:59 UTC |
| Europe | Oct 19, 04:00 (UTC+1) | Nov 30, 03:59 (UTC+1) | Nov 30, 02:59 UTC |
| America | Oct 19, 04:00 (UTC-5) | Nov 30, 03:59 (UTC-5) | Nov 30, 08:59 UTC |
HoYoverse's 4.6 notice lists the Pure Fiction window alongside the other endgame modes: Apocalyptic Shadow "Dominance of Oblivion" runs to November 16 and the next Memory of Chaos, "Survival of the Fittest", opens on November 2. For the full Warp calendar in the same period, see our HSR banner schedule.
How does the Imagined Words Grit mechanic work?
Pure Fiction scores you on how fast you grind down an endless stream of enemies. Defeating any enemy adds 5 Grit. At 100 Grit the battle enters Surging Grit, a stronger buff phase that lasts until a countdown with a fixed SPD of 100 takes its turn. Imagined Words changes what else fills the gauge. HoYoverse's official Version 4.6 update notice spells out the rule:
"When an ally target inflicts a debuff on an enemy target, allies additionally accumulate 1 Grit Value. This effect can be triggered up to 10 times per enemy target."
The full phase and buff text below is from the community wiki's 4.6 stage page, which mirrors the in-game descriptions.
The two phases stack on top of that:
| Phase | When it applies | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Concordant Truce | Always | Enemy Effect RES -30%. Enemies with 4+ debuffs take +20% DMG |
| Surging Grit | Grit reaches 100 | Deals a set hit once per debuff on each enemy. Enemies take +50% DMG. Each new debuff adds 1 stack of Dejection (All-Type RES -1%, 2 turns, max 20 stacks) |
Two practical takeaways. First, the -30% Effect RES means debuffers who normally miss, such as Pela, Silver Wolf or Mortenax Blade, land almost everything. Second, the 4-debuff threshold is the line to aim for: a team that keeps four debuffs on every mob makes enemies take +20% DMG all fight and up to +70% while Surging Grit is up.
Which Cacophony buff should you pick?
You choose one of three Cacophony buffs for each Node. Each also adds its own Grit source, which matters as much as the damage bonus.
| Buff | Damage effect | Extra Grit source | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toccata | Ultimate and follow-up ATK DMG +40%. In Surging Grit each Dejection application becomes 2 stacks | +1 Grit per enemy hit by an Ultimate or follow-up | Follow-up teams, Himeko • Nova, Remembrance, Archer |
| Mirthful Cadence | Elation Skill hits apply Indulgence: target takes +15% DMG for 2 turns, per character. Entering Surging Grit grants 40 Punchlines | +3 Grit per enemy hit by a Basic ATK or Skill | Elation teams (Sparxie, Evanescia, Yao Guang, Pearl, Silver Wolf LV.999) |
| Fugato | In Surging Grit, every ally attack makes one random DoT on the target deal 400% of its damage at once | +1 Grit per DoT tick | Kafka, Black Swan, Hysilens DoT |
In the clears we read, players paired Toccata with Aventurine • Waveflair and Himeko • Nova teams, and Mirthful Cadence with every Elation team. Fugato has the narrowest audience, but Sportskeeda's 4.6 team list still backs the archetype:
"Here, both Kafka's triple DoT and Ashveil's follow-up attack teams work well. You can easily acquire the maximum number of stars using any of the two compositions."
Who are the Stage 4 and Starward bosses?
Stage 4 has two Nodes with level 85 enemies. Wave 1 is regular mobs plus the rare Furbo Journalist. Waves 2 and 3 add an Elite or Boss that takes 3% of its Max HP as True DMG every time a regular enemy dies. Starward Mode adds a third Node and raises the star targets.
| Node | Recommended elements | Wave 2 Elite | Wave 3 Boss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Node 1 | Ice, Imaginary | Furiae Praetor | Flame Reaver of the Deepest Dark |
| Node 2 | Fire, Imaginary | Dreamjolt Troupe's Sweet Gorilla | Alloy Mechatron: King Pom-Pom |
| Node 3 (Starward only) | Physical, Ice | The Ascended | Argenti |
Node 2 is the awkward one. The wiki notes that it carries Voracity Corrosion at Corruption Level 3, affecting every other Sableclaw Wolftrooper, the Sweet Gorilla and two of every five "Alloy Pommy" mobs. One HoYoLAB player put it plainly when explaining a Node 2 pick: "Using the best Elation team because enemies literally got Buff lvl 3 Voracity." If your Node 2 team stalls, swap the Node order of your best two teams before blaming builds.
What are the best teams for Pure Fiction 4.6?
Instead of copying another site's picks, we read the team breakdowns posted to HoYoLAB for Imagined Words between October 19 and October 23, 2026, and kept the ones that list all four characters, the buff and the score. These are real clears, not theory.
Node 1, Flame Reaver (Ice, Imaginary):
| Team | Buff | Result posted |
|---|---|---|
| Aventurine • Waveflair, Tribbie, Aventurine, Trailblazer (Remembrance) | Toccata | 99,000+ Starward, limited 5-stars at E0S0 |
| Aventurine • Waveflair, Tribbie, Huohuo, Mortenax Blade | Toccata | 99,000+ Starward, limited 5-stars at E0S0 |
| Castorice, Evernight, Hyacine, Robin • Summeretto | Not stated | Starward clear (E0 Castorice) |
| Hysilens, Black Swan, Huohuo, Kafka | Not stated | Starward clear |
Node 2, King Pom-Pom (Fire, Imaginary):
| Team | Buff | Result posted |
|---|---|---|
| Sparxie, Yao Guang, Pearl, Silver Wolf LV.999 | Mirthful Cadence | 99,000+ Starward, E0S0 |
| Evanescia, Yao Guang, Pearl, Trailblazer (Elation) | Mirthful Cadence | 99,000+ Starward, E0S0 |
| Sparxie, Aventurine • Waveflair, Silver Wolf LV.999, Pearl | Not stated | Starward clear |
Node 3, Argenti (Physical, Ice), Starward only:
| Team | Buff | Result posted |
|---|---|---|
| Himeko • Nova, Sparkle, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, Robin • Summeretto | Toccata | 99,000+ Starward in two posted runs, E0S0 |
| Himeko • Nova, Sparkle, Sunday, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae | Not stated | Starward clear, near full points |
Argenti is the slowest Node for many players. A HoYoLAB user who scored 31,800, 40,000 and 40,000 across the three Nodes wrote that "Argenti was a not so simple 40k for Phainon", because Argenti's shields block Phainon's counters, which is exactly what the Toccata follow-up bonus pays for.
Lower-investment option for Stages 1 to 3. Several clears used Archer with March 7th (The Hunt), Gallagher and Herta on one Node, and Gilgamesh with Tingyun, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae and the Remembrance Trailblazer on the other, both on Toccata. Stage 3 only needs 60,000 points across two Nodes for all three stars, so mid-investment teams are enough.
Which characters show up most in 4.6 clears?
We counted how many of the 70 HoYoLAB posts about Pure Fiction 4.6 (October 19 to 23) mention each character by name in the title or description. This counts mentions, not wins, but it shows what the community reached for.
| Character | Posts mentioning them |
|---|---|
| Yao Guang | 16 |
| Silver Wolf LV.999 | 12 |
| Castorice | 10 |
| Pearl | 10 |
| Aventurine • Waveflair | 10 |
| Archer | 9 |
| Tribbie | 8 |
| Mortenax Blade | 7 |
| Evanescia | 7 |
| Sparxie | 7 |
| Himeko • Nova | 6 |
The pattern is clear: Elation units dominate Node 2, and Aventurine • Waveflair is the most common Node 1 anchor. If you are deciding where to spend Jade, our HSR tier list ranks these characters across all three endgame modes, and our 4.6 Phase 2 banner guide covers whether the Mortenax Blade rerun is worth pulling for this kind of debuff-heavy content.
How do you score 99,000 in Starward Mode?
Starward Mode unlocks once you clear Stage 3. It is an alternate Stage 4 with a third Node, and each Node can be re-run on its own. The thresholds are 1.5 times the normal ones.
| Mode | Max score | 1 star | 2 stars | 3 stars | Prismatic Star |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 4 (normal) | 80,000 | 40,000 | 50,000 | 60,000 | none |
| Starward Mode | 120,000 | 60,000 | 75,000 | 90,000 | 99,000 |
Each Node is worth 40,000: up to 8,000 from Wave 1 (400 per enemy) and up to 16,000 each from Waves 2 and 3, based on damage to the Elite or Boss. That means 99,000 allows you to drop just 21,000 points across three Nodes. In practice, aim for a full 40,000 on your two strongest Nodes and at least 19,000 on the third.
Three habits that raise scores in this rotation:
- Spread debuffs before you nuke. The Grit bonus caps at 10 per enemy, so hitting fresh mobs fills the gauge faster than stacking one target.
- Time Ultimates for Surging Grit. Enemies take +50% DMG in that phase, and Toccata turns every Dejection into 2 stacks.
- Re-run only the weak Node. Starward keeps each Node's best score unless you change that lineup or reuse its gear elsewhere.
What rewards does Pure Fiction 4.6 give?
| Stars | Stellar Jade per star | Extras |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 6 | 60 | 20,000 Credits each |
| 7 and 8 | 60 | 100 Jade Feathers + 20,000 Credits each |
| 9 to 12 | 80 | 100 Jade Feathers + 20,000 Credits each |
| Starward Prismatic Star | 100 | 100 Jade Feathers + 20,000 Credits |
All 12 stars pay 800 Stellar Jade, and the Prismatic Star brings the rotation to 900. That is more than five Warps from a single mode. Pair it with the free Jade on our Honkai Star Rail codes page before the next banners arrive with Version 4.7.
