Quick Answer
- Season 5 released on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Game Update 2.1.1.0 opened downloads at 8:00 UTC and EA switched Season 5 content on at 12:00 UTC.
- Two more Season 5 phases are dated. Casino Heist lands November 10 and Frozen Aces lands December 8. Both are Tuesdays.
- EA has not published a Season 5 end date or a Season 6 release date. Its October 21 timeline lists only "2027 - Season 6 and more".
- Our cadence-based estimate for Season 6 is Tuesday, January 5, 2027. That is the only date where EA's season-length pattern, its final-phase-to-new-season gap and its "2027" label all agree. It is an inference, not an EA date.
- What resets when Season 5 ends: the Battle Pass and the seasonal challenge tracks. Career Rank and weapon Hardware Rank carry over.
A month ago the question was when Season 5 would start. The September 28 version of this page answered it before EA did: it named Tuesday, October 6 or Tuesday, October 13 from EA's own update cadence, and Season 5 shipped on October 13. The same method now points at Season 6. EA has also filled in a lot more of the calendar since then, so most of what follows is first-party.
When did Battlefield 6 Season 5 come out?
Tuesday, October 13, 2026. EA's 2.1.1.0 update notes, dated October 12, open with: "On Tuesday, October 13, Battlefield 6 Game Update 2.1.1.0 opens a new front in Battlefield 6 and REDSEC with the launch of Season 5: Siege of Vegas."
The timing was split in two. In EA's words: "From 8.00 UTC, the update will be available to download across all platforms," and "At 12.00 UTC, Season 5 content becomes available."
The opening phase brought:
- Two maps: Vegas Strip and Area 51.
- Four weapons: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR, the Z84M LMG and the ELR-40 sniper rifle. Our Season 5 new weapons breakdown covers each one.
- REDSEC Rapid Royale and a new Ranked Battle Royale season.
- A new Battle Pass. EA's description is "six instant unlocks, four themed paths, more than 100 tiers of rewards". The Season 5 Battle Pass guide covers what that means in practice.
The Battlefield x Dead Space: Convergence event followed on October 20. EA's October 21 community update calls that event "Season 5 Phase 1" and says it "runs until November 10". So if you see "Phase 1: October 20" quoted somewhere, it is the event date. The season itself started a week earlier.
What is EA's full Season 5 schedule?
EA has published the whole season in two places: the Season 5 Roadmap (October 9) and the "More to Season 5" community update (October 21). Here they are side by side:
| Date | Phase (EA name) | What EA lists |
|---|---|---|
| Tue, Oct 13 | Siege of Vegas | Vegas Strip, Area 51, four weapons, Battle Pass, Rapid Royale, Ranked BR |
| Tue, Oct 20 | Dead Space: Convergence | Halloween event with Marker Incursion. Runs until Nov 10 |
| Tue, Nov 10 | Casino Heist | European Casino map, Casino Heist event, Multiplayer Leaderboards, balance changes |
| Tue, Dec 8 | Frozen Aces | Operation High Roller, Platoons, Server Browser, Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City updates |
| 2027 | Season 6 | "Ongoing live-service support, balance passes, and more" |
One thing to watch: Multiplayer Leaderboards have moved. The 2.1.1.0 notes put "Multiplayer Leaderboards" in the opening phase. The October 21 update puts them under "Season 5 Phase 2 Nov 10". The later page is the current plan, so expect them on November 10.
What comes in the Casino Heist update on November 10?
Casino Heist is the busier of the two remaining phases. EA's roadmap describes the map as "a new infantry-focused battleground where close-quarters combat takes center stage". The update also adds the limited-time Casino Heist event.
EA's roadmap graphic names three more items for this phase that its text does not describe:
- NSW4 (carbine)
- ADS-17 6GHz (new gadget)
- M142 MRAS (new vehicle)
EA has not posted stats or unlock conditions for any of them yet. Our best carbine rankings show what the NSW4 will be up against.
Balance is the other half of November 10. The October 21 update says: "we've looked at nerfing the extended mags on the SCW-10 and KV9 and also buffing some underused attachments available across many weapons." In the Discord Q&A, the team said it is "targeting more expansive gunplay tweaks for Season 5 Phase 2 that will impact both traditional MP and REDSEC." No numbers have been posted, so treat any percentage you see before the patch notes go up as a guess.
What comes in the Frozen Aces update on December 8?
Frozen Aces is the last dated phase of Season 5, and it brings the most requested features. EA's roadmap: "Frozen Aces introduces Operation High Roller along with several highly requested features, including Platoons and Server Browser."
- Server Browser. EA says it "will launch side-by-side with our existing matchmaking system", so quick-play matchmaking stays. A dedicated Server Browser blog is promised "in the coming weeks".
- Platoons. Up to 100 players per Platoon, with custom names. EA also says: "You will also earn an XP bonus whenever you play with fellow Platoon members in your squad." EA has not said how big that bonus is.
- Map updates for Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City. EA describes "more separation between HQs, additional gameplay space along the map's boundaries to support flanking, more terrain breaks, and more ways to reach rooftops".
- On the roadmap graphic: the Freezeout event, the MK 1 MOD 0 DMR, a Karambit Knife and the B-81 Cavalry vehicle.
The Blackwell Fields layout above is from Battlefield Labs testing in September, and EA marked it "work in progress". The December version may look different, but it shows the direction EA is taking: an extra capture point and a wider play area.
Players clearly have their eye on that date. On an r/Battlefield thread this week about the new maps wearing thin, one commenter wrote: "We need the server browser so bad. I want to believe that the server browser in December will fix this problem..." They added that they are not counting on it. Either way, December 8 is the date to circle.

When does Battlefield 6 Season 5 end?
EA has not said. We checked the roadmap, the 2.1.1.0 notes and the October 21 update, and none of them give an end date for Season 5. December 8 is the start of the last phase, not the end of the season. Season 4 worked the same way: its final phase, Tidal Strike, started September 15, and the season ran four more weeks until October 13.
So Season 5 ends on the day Season 6 starts. That makes the Season 6 date the one to work out.
When is the Battlefield 6 Season 6 release date?
EA's only official statement is the last line of its October 21 timeline: "2027 - Season 6 and more: Ongoing live-service support, balance passes, and more." The same page adds: "We look forward to sharing more on what's coming in 2027 early in the New Year."
So EA has given a year but no date. Its own schedule narrows that down a lot:
| Season | Start | Final phase starts | Next season starts | Gap from final phase | Season length |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Season 2 | Feb 17 | Apr 14 | May 12 | 28 days | 84 days |
| Season 3 | May 12 | Jun 30 | Jul 21 | 21 days | 70 days |
| Season 4 | Jul 21 | Sep 15 | Oct 13 | 28 days | 84 days |
| Season 5 | Oct 13 | Dec 8 | ? | 21 to 28 days | 70 to 84 days |
Apply both patterns to Season 5:
- Gap from final phase: December 8 plus 21 days is December 29. Plus 28 days is January 5, 2027.
- Season length: October 13 plus 70 days is December 22. Plus 84 days is January 5, 2027.
- EA's label: "2027" rules out every December date.
All three line up on Tuesday, January 5, 2027. Every season and phase launch since February has been on a Tuesday, and January 5 is a Tuesday.
Two reasons it could come later. First, the holidays: a game update the week after New Year means the patch would need to be finished in December. Second, EA has only promised to share its 2027 plans "early in the New Year". Before Season 5, the detailed roadmap went up on October 9, four days ahead of launch, so a short gap between reveal and release is possible, but it is not guaranteed. Treat January 5 as the earliest date the cadence supports, with mid-to-late January just as plausible. If EA posts a date, we will update this page.
What EA has said about Season 6 content is one Discord Q&A answer about jets: "Subject to change, but we currently have customization for all the launch jets planned during Season 6. With this update, all of the jets for each faction will have weapon customization options." Our jets guide covers how jets work now.
What do you lose when Season 5 ends?
Same rules as every season so far. When a new season starts:
- The Battle Pass closes. EA has never published a carry-over rule for unclaimed tiers, and none of the Season 5 pages mention one, so plan to finish the pass before Season 6 starts.
- Seasonal challenge tracks close. Limited-time events run on their own clocks and can end earlier: Dead Space: Convergence ends November 10.
- Career Rank and weapon Hardware Rank carry over. Weapon levels and attachments you have unlocked stay unlocked.
The deadline also affects which guns to level first. Two more guns are on the way this season: the NSW4 on November 10 and the MK 1 MOD 0 on December 8. Both will start at level one. If your current guns are still unfinished when the next weapon arrives, you will end up levelling two at once. The XP limit explainer covers what happened to earn rates after launch and EA's October 15 fix.
Short on time before the season ends? Let timesaver.gg do the grind for you.
- Battlefield 6 account leveling: XP and account progression, so you reach the end of the Season 5 Battle Pass before it closes
- Battlefield 6 weapon leveling: Hardware Rank on a specific gun, so a new carbine or DMR is fully kitted the week it drops
- Battlefield 6 career rank boost: Career Rank, which carries into Season 6
- All Battlefield 6 services: the full list
What should you do between now and Season 6?
Here is what to do before each date:
- By November 10: finish anything tied to the Dead Space: Convergence event, which ends that day. If you run the SCW-10 or KV9, note that EA has looked at nerfing their extended magazines in this update.
- November 10 to December 8: learn the European Casino, unlock the NSW4 and wait for patch notes before rebuilding your SCW-10 or KV9 around extended mags.
- December 8 onward: join a Platoon early for its XP bonus. This is also your last full phase to finish the Season 5 Battle Pass.
- From late December: check EA's news page for the 2027 roadmap. EA is likely to post the Season 6 date there, possibly only a few days before launch.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Battlefield 6 Season 6 release date? EA has not announced a date. Its October 21, 2026 community update only lists "2027 - Season 6 and more". EA's update cadence points to Tuesday, January 5, 2027 as the earliest likely date. That is our estimate, not an EA announcement.
When did Battlefield 6 Season 5 start? Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with Game Update 2.1.1.0. The download opened at 8:00 UTC and Season 5 content went live at 12:00 UTC.
When does Battlefield 6 Season 5 end? EA has not published an end date. The last dated phase is Frozen Aces on December 8, but that is when the final phase starts, not when the season ends. The season ends on the day Season 6 begins.
Is the server browser coming to Battlefield 6? Yes, on December 8 with Frozen Aces, according to EA's October 21 update. EA says it "will launch side-by-side with our existing matchmaking system", so quick matchmaking is not going away.
What is the European Casino map? It is the third Season 5 map, coming on November 10 with the Casino Heist update. EA describes it as an infantry-focused, close-quarters map. It launches together with the limited-time Casino Heist event.
Will I lose my weapon levels when Season 6 starts? No. Career Rank and Hardware Rank carry over between seasons. The Battle Pass and seasonal challenges are what end, so finish those first.
