FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC: Worth It? All 79 Heroes Priced

Sam Okonkwo
Sam Okonkwo
FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC pool cards Paulo Futre, Antonio Di Natale and Wesley Sneijder, with a median pull of 166,000 against a 174,915-coin fodder bill

The FC 27 Max 88 Base Hero Upgrade went live on 2 November 2026 and asks for 140,000 Item Score, the highest of the three Max Hero upgrades so far. We priced all 79 heroes in the pool against live console and PC listings. The typical pull is worth slightly less than the fodder you burn to get it.

Quick answer (TLDR): The FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC costs about 174,915 coins on console in the cheapest fodder and 162,240 on PC. It gives one untradeable Base Hero rated 85 to 88 from a tracked pool of 79. The median pull is 166,000 coins, and 38 of 79 heroes (48%) are worth more than the fodder bill. Assuming equal odds, that's a coin flip, so do it with untradeable fodder and don't buy cards for it unless you'd play most of the pool. Centre-backs and CDMs are the best pulls (14 of 15 beat the bill). Strikers are the worst (16 of 22 don't). It expires Sunday 8 November at 18:00 UTC.

What Is the FC 27 Max 88 Base Hero Upgrade SBC?

It's a Streamlined SBC, so there's no squad to build and chemistry doesn't matter. You hand in players rated 45 or above until their combined Item Score reaches 140,000. The in-game tile reads: "Earn a pack containing 1 Base Hero Player Item, rated 88 or lower."

The pool list comes from Destructoid. It names one 85-rated "Scott", which we took to be Alex Scott (85 RB), as we did for the Max 87. If Jill Scott (85 CM) is in the pool as well, it becomes 80 heroes with a median of 159,500, and the verdict gets slightly worse rather than better.

How many times can you do it? The trackers disagree. FUT.GG lists one repeat on a 3-day refresh, and the tile shows the same timer. FUT Mind says you can complete it once before it expires. On the Max 87, u/Gear_Room reported two completions on day one. Check the counter on your own tile before you plan a second run.

How Much Does the FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC Actually Cost?

Plan on 175,000 to 192,000 coins on console if you buy everything. A standard Gold 84 scores 830, an 85 scores 2,100, an 86 scores 4,100, an 87 scores 5,500 and an 88 scores 8,300 (NokaFut Item Score table, 2 November).

Tracker pick251× 88 + 24× 87191,840
All 88s1717× 88238,000

Costs are from FUT.GG's solver at 22:45 UTC on 2 November, and they move fast: minutes later the same page showed 166,465 on console and 169,000 on PC. We use the first figures below because they match our price snapshot, but the gap between the median pull and the bill is small enough to vanish on any given hour. The 25-card route costs 16,925 coins more than the cheapest one and saves you 144 market purchases, so most buyers should take it. Our own FC 27 Item Score table explains why 84s usually win on price per point.

Special cards are the real discount. NokaFut tracks some special 85s at 3,150, 86s at 6,150, 87s at 8,250 and 88s at 12,450. That's 1.5× the standard Gold card at the same rating, and the Holographic versions it lists score 1.5× again (9,225 for a special 86). EA says Item Score depends on "OVR, Rarity, and Holographic status" (EA, FUT for Beginners). Twelve untradeable special 88s would clear the entire SBC at no market cost, so check your club before you buy a single 84.

The same EA guide has the line to remember here: "Always remember that putting a Player Item in an SBC is just like selling it." A tradeable 87 you hand in costs you what it would have sold for. An untradeable one costs you no coins, though you could still use it in another SBC.

Is the FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC Worth It? The Expected-Value Maths

It's positive on average and negative for the typical player. We took the lowest listing for every hero from NokaFut's Base Hero list at 22:43 UTC on 2 November, using the standard cards and not the Holographic versions. Neither tracker publishes per-player weights for this pack, so these figures assume every hero is equally likely.

Matuidi had no PC listing at the snapshot, so the PC column covers 78 heroes.

Bar chart of all 79 Max 88 Hero pool prices on console, sorted low to high, with 38 heroes above the 174,915-coin fodder line and 41 below it

The mean looks great at 338,231, but a few big cards drag it up. Take out the top three and it falls to 268,714. The median is the number that describes what you should expect, and on console it sits 8,915 coins under the bill.

There's a bigger catch. These are replacement values: what you would pay for that hero on the market. The SBC version is untradeable, so a 2.7M Matuidi can't become 2.7M coins. A pull only has that value if you were going to spend the coins on that exact card anyway.

Destructoid's verdict is short: "don't buy fodder with your coins to complete this SBC." We'd go along with that for most players, and the price table above supports it. 41 of the 79 heroes cost less on the market than the SBC does. If one of those is the card you want, buying it directly is cheaper and certain.

Max 88 vs Max 87: Did the SBC Get Better or Worse?

Worse value, despite the better pool. The Max 87 launched on 19 October with a median pull above its fodder bill. This one launched with a median below it.

Max 87 (19 Oct)Max 88 (2 Nov)

Cost per Gold 84~870~1,035
Median pull143,000166,000
Share above the fodder bill56%48%

The Item Score went up 22%, but the bill went up 45%, because 84s are also about 19% dearer than two weeks ago. The Max 87 column used FUT Mind prices and this one uses NokaFut, so treat the median comparison as a rough guide.

The 18 new 88s do lift the pool. The 61 heroes rated 87 or lower have a median of just 120,000 today, while the 88s sit at 310,500. If you're wondering what the extra 25,000 Item Score buys you, that's it: a 23% chance of an 88, assuming equal odds.

Which Positions Should You Hope to Pull?

Defenders and defensive midfielders, by a distance. The pool is priced by what players actually want in a squad, and the market clearly doesn't want more strikers.

Full-backs6125,0001 of 63%
ST2289,5006 of 2218%

Rating splits the pool almost as cleanly. 28 of the 43 heroes rated 87 or 88 beat the bill. Only 10 of the 36 rated 85 or 86 do. Our earlier FC 27 market crash piece covers why prices may shift before Black Friday, so check these against the live market before you submit.

Price isn't the same as quality, and a cheap hero can still suit your links. These are only duds against 175,000 coins of fodder.

Should You Do It? A Three-Line Decision

  • Do it if you can cover most of the 140,000 with untradeable cards. A dud then costs you no extra coins, and on equal odds you have a 20% shot at a 500,000+ hero.
  • Maybe if you're on PC, where the median pull (173,500) was above the bill at both readings, and you'd start most heroes in the pool.
  • Skip it if you'd be buying the fodder and you want coins back, or if you're after one specific hero. Check that hero's price first, as 41 of the 79 cost less than the SBC does.

If you get two completions, your chance of at least one pull above the bill rises to about 73% on equal odds, but you've spent roughly 350,000 coins for it.

Want a specific hero, not a random one? If you want one particular hero, coins are the certain route, and the promo expected on Friday could move prices.

FAQ

How much does the FC 27 Max 88 Hero SBC cost? FUT.GG's cheapest solution was 174,915 coins on console and 162,240 on PC on 2 November, using 169 Gold 84s. Its 25-card route costs 191,840 on console. Untradeable cards in your club cut the real cost sharply.

When does the Max 88 Base Hero Upgrade expire? Sunday 8 November 2026 at 18:00 UTC, according to FUT.GG's SBC data. The in-game tile showed 5 days 23 hours remaining soon after launch, which matches.

Is the Max 88 Hero from the SBC tradeable? No. The tile says the pack is untradeable, so you can't sell the hero you pull. Prices in this guide show what the card would cost to buy, not what you could sell it for.

Who are the best pulls in the Max 88 Hero SBC? By market price, Matuidi (2,739,000), Ramires (1,789,000), Di Natale (1,770,000) and Stam (1,431,000). Centre-backs and CDMs are the safest group, with 14 of 15 above the fodder bill.

What are the odds of an 88 in the Max 88 Hero SBC? 18 of the 79 heroes are rated 88, so about 23% if every hero is equally likely. Neither tracker publishes per-player weights, so treat that as an estimate.

Should I do the Max 88 Hero SBC or buy a hero? Buy if you want a specific card and it costs less than the SBC, which is true for 41 of the 79. Do the SBC if you have spare untradeable fodder and you're happy with a random hero.
