Season 7: Utopia turns Arena Breakout: Infinite's tactical extraction loop into a biohazard survival test, and it goes live on September 16, 2026. If you searched "Arena Breakout Infinite zombie mode," here is the short version, then the full breakdown of both modes, the new progression, and how the season's balance overhaul changes what you carry in.
Quick answer: Season 7 adds two zombie modes. Infected Zone is a PvPvE extraction mode (still Search-Combat-Extract, now with zombies and rival Operators) playable on Farm, Valley, and Airport. Zombie Endless is a pure PvE co-op horde mode on Airport that unlocks at Lv. 8, where zombies scale up over time. Both feed a new out-of-raid Zombie Research perk line, and an in-raid merchant lets you trade for items and information mid-run. It all launches September 16, 2026.
This is a preview built entirely from Morefun's official Season 7 announcement — nothing here is a leak or a content-farm guess. Where a number or item has not been confirmed by the developer yet, we say so instead of inventing it. What is the Arena Breakout: Infinite zombie mode?
For the first time, Arena Breakout: Infinite is running a dedicated biohazard theme across a whole season rather than a limited-time collab. Morefun frames it as "a unique biohazard-themed Search, Combat, and Extract experience" — the extraction fundamentals stay, but the map is now crawling with the infected.
Crucially, this is two separate modes, not one, and they play very differently:
- Infected Zone keeps the PvPvE tension ABI is known for — you are fighting zombies and other squads for loot and an exit.
- Zombie Endless strips the PvP out entirely — it is a co-op survival grind against escalating hordes.
If you have avoided ABI because you find full-loot PvP stressful, Zombie Endless is the softest on-ramp the game has ever shipped — no rival players, unlimited focus on the horde. If you live for the extraction rush, Infected Zone is where the high-value loot risk lives.
Infected Zone (PvPvE): maps, difficulty, and what's different
Infected Zone is Utopia's headline mode. Morefun's description: "Arena Breakout: Infinite's iconic PvPvE tactical extraction gameplay meets biohazard elements. Six types of zombies will bring greater variety and dynamic thrills to every encounter."
Here is the confirmed structure:
| Detail | Season 7 confirmed value |
|---|---|
| Mode type | PvPvE extraction (zombies + rival Operators) |
| Available maps | Farm, Valley, Airport |
| Zombie variety | Six types of zombies, each with its own behavior |
| Difficulty tiers | Infected Zone and Heavy Infected Zone |
| Difficulty mapping | Infected Zone = Lockdown intensity · Heavy Infected Zone = Forbidden intensity |
| Map assignments | Valley → Infected Zone · Farm and Airport → Heavy Infected Zone |
The difficulty mapping is the part most people miss. ABI's normal maps run on the Normal → Lockdown → Forbidden Zone ladder. In Infected Zone, the two zombie difficulties slot directly onto the top two rungs: Infected Zone corresponds to Lockdown, and Heavy Infected Zone corresponds to Forbidden. So Valley is your "manageable but rewarding" option, while Farm and Airport are the deep-end, high-ceiling runs.
Because it is still PvPvE, everything you already know about extraction discipline applies: you can be third-partied by another squad while you are busy with a horde, and dying still means losing what is not in a Secure Case. The zombies add a second threat axis — they can bleed your ammo and meds before a human ever finds you.
Six zombie types, no stats yet. Morefun has confirmed "six types of zombies" with distinct attacks and behaviors, but has not published their individual health pools, resistances, or attack patterns. Any site listing per-zombie damage numbers before September 16 is guessing. We will document each type from the live client.
Zombie Endless (PvE co-op): the horde mode
Zombie Endless is the pure PvE counterpart. Morefun's line: "Zombie Endless is a pure PvE mode designed for players who want to team up and tear through hordes of zombies. Zombies grow stronger over time, so in each run you'll need to eliminate zombies, complete missions, and upgrade your weapons and skills to earn more merits."
Confirmed facts:
- Map: Airport only.
- Unlock: the mode unlocks at Lv. 8, so it is reachable early rather than gated behind endgame progression.
- Loop: kill zombies, complete missions, and upgrade weapons and skills within the run as the horde escalates, earning merits.
- No rival Operators: this is co-op survival — the only enemy is the horde.
That "grow stronger over time" line is the key design signal: Zombie Endless is a scaling wave-survival mode, so it rewards efficient clears and in-run upgrades rather than a single lucky loot grab. It is the ideal mode for learning gunplay, testing a build, or grinding progression without the PvP anxiety tax.
New mechanics: the in-raid merchant and Zombie Research
Both modes introduce systems ABI has not had before.
In-raid merchant. Morefun: "In-raid, a new merchant system allows players to trade for items and information." This is a genuinely new wrinkle for an extraction shooter that has always locked your economy to the pre-raid loadout screen — being able to buy items and information mid-run changes second-to-second decision-making. Expect it to matter most in Infected Zone, where information (where a boss horde or another squad is) has real cash value.
Zombie Research (out of raid). Morefun: "Out-of-raid, a new Zombie Research progression line lets players spend points earned in the Infected Zone to unlock unique perks." Note the source of the currency: research points are earned in Infected Zone (the PvPvE mode), and spent on a perk tree back in the lobby. That creates a natural progression funnel — run Infected Zone to bank research points, then cash them into perks that make every future zombie run easier.
Zombie Research tree not public yet. The specific perks, their tiers, and point costs are not in the announcement. We will map the full tree after launch.
The Season 7 balance overhaul (why your loadout changes)
Utopia is not just zombies — it ships the balance pass the ABI community has been asking for, and it directly affects what ammo and armor you should bring into every mode. Straight from the official patch notes, the confirmed combat balance changes are:
- Increased Effective Range across weapons.
- Increased Headshot Effectiveness.
- Mode-Based Ammo and Gear Cap — Normal: Tier 4 and below · Lockdown: Tier 5 and below.
- Removed Tier 5 / Tier 6 armor penetration RNG.
- Flashlight nerf.
The single most important line for min-maxers is the mode-based gear cap. Previously you could over-gear a lower zone; now Normal caps you at Tier 4 and below and Lockdown at Tier 5 and below. That is a deliberate anti-gear-fear change: you can drop into a Normal raid knowing nobody is running a full Tier 6 kit against you. Plan your ammo by cap — carrying Tier 6 rounds into a Normal raid is now wasted stash value.
Removing the Tier 5/6 armor penetration RNG is the other big one. High-tier fights become more deterministic: if your Pierce Level clears the plate, it clears it, rather than rolling a dice on the highest armor tiers. (In ABI, remember, Pierce Level = floor(Penetration ÷ 10), and it is measured against a piece's Armor Level — not Tarkov's tables.)
Two new weapons arrive alongside the pass:
- A545 — a new top-tier weapon Morefun says is "on par with U191 and H416," so it joins the premium meta rather than undercutting it.
- AK-15SC — a high-damage option "ideal for close- to mid-range combat."
Season 7 is also the first time ABI adds seasonal weapon attachments — four of them — meant to make more weapons viable. The developer has confirmed the count but the individual attachment stats belong to the live patch, so treat any pre-launch attachment stat sheet with suspicion.
Finally, "Enhanced Post-Combat Recognition" adds quality-of-life feedback: new dog-tag inspection animations, a detailed damage log for the final 30 seconds of a fight, and the ability to share raid highlights and achievements.
How to prepare before September 16
You cannot play the zombie modes yet, but you can set yourself up:
- Get to at least Lv. 8 so Zombie Endless is unlocked the moment the season drops. If you are a returning player, this is a quick weekend on the current season's maps.
- Bank a stash of Tier 4–5 ammo, not Tier 6. With the new mode-based caps, T4 covers Normal and T5 covers Lockdown — that is where most of your raids will sit early in a new season, and it is cheaper than hoarding reds.
- Do not expect a stash wipe. ABI does not run Tarkov-style full wipes. What resets at a season change is your season rank and seasonal missions — your stash, Koen, character level, and Bonds carry over. So the gear you build now is gear you keep into Utopia.
- Free up Secure Case space. Anything you want to guarantee survives a zombie-run death needs to be in a Secure Case before you queue.
A note on buying Koen (don't)
You will see ads for cheap Koen the moment a new season creates demand. Skip them. Morefun removed the ability to buy Koen with real money at the 1.0 launch, and it aggressively punishes real-money trading — its own fortnightly ban notices routinely report thousands of ten-year bans and Koen confiscations, and the penalties fall on buyers, not just sellers (lowered Merit Score, escalating bans, and up to double the item value confiscated). ABI has no gift or mail system, so any "Koen delivery" requires exactly the in-raid hand-off Morefun's anti-cheat is built to detect. Earn it in-raid instead — that is the entire point of the mode.
FAQ
When does the Arena Breakout: Infinite zombie mode release? Season 7: Utopia, which adds both zombie modes, launches on September 16, 2026, per Morefun's official announcement.
What is the difference between Infected Zone and Zombie Endless? Infected Zone is PvPvE — you fight zombies and other Operators for loot on Farm, Valley, or Airport, and you can lose your gear. Zombie Endless is pure PvE co-op on Airport, with no rival players, where you survive escalating waves of zombies that grow stronger over time.
What level do you need for Zombie Endless? Zombie Endless unlocks at Lv. 8, so most players can reach it quickly rather than needing endgame progression.
