What Is the Black Ops 7 Endgame Mode?

Endgame places up to 32 players onto the open-world Avalon map. You must complete Assignments and gather resources before the timer expires. Success depends on smart rotation through sectors and increasing your power.

You must exfil to save your progress. Failure results in losing your loadout and a reset of your Combat Rating. This experience evolves the extraction shooter formula with missions against The Guild and competitive looting. A single successful extraction converts your earned Essence to XP — the single most important habit in Endgame is building your extract discipline.

How to Unlock Endgame in BO7

Since the November 21 update, the mode is accessible to everyone. You can select Endgame from the menu without beating the story first. Alternatively, you can join a party leader who has it unlocked. This allows friends to play together regardless of individual story progression. You earn XP and rewards normally. This update ensures the community remains connected and active from day one.

⚠️ Season 5 access note: Endgame remains free-to-play via the Warzone menu through the end of Season 5. Once Season 6 begins, the mode requires owning Black Ops 7 — it will exit the Warzone menu entirely. If you've been putting off trying Endgame, this season is your last free window.

Season 5 Endgame: What's New (July 2026)

Season 5 (launched July 23, 2026) brought two major additions to the Avalon Endgame experience:

Burn Run Assignment

Burn Run is a brand-new time-attack Assignment set in Avalon. Instead of the standard objective loops, this one puts you in a bomb-rigged vehicle that's ready to explode — the only thing keeping you alive is the clock. Drive through all 30 flaming arches, run over Fear enemies and objects to add seconds to the timer, and grab repair wrenches and speed boosts en route to survive to the finish. Full strategy is in our Season 5 Burn Run guide.

Exotic Ability Boosts

Exotic Ability Boosts are a new rarity of upgrade for your Major and Minor Abilities — shorter cooldowns, extra ammo, or added damage types. Each Ability has two Exotic Boosts to choose from. They drop primarily in Nightmare-difficulty zones, with a small chance in Zone IV, and last until you wipe or swap that ability. Prioritize farming Nightmare zones once you hit CR 45+ to start stacking these.

New Season 5 Weapons in Endgame

Two new weapons arrived in Season 5 that are worth running in Endgame. The FG42 (assault rifle, earnable via Battle Pass) is fast becoming the standout pick — its sustained fire profile suits the sustained-DPS demands of Guild heavy units. The dual-wield Gremlin SMG (also Battle Pass) is a high-mobility option suited to Zone 2–3 rotation play. Both outperform the legacy meta picks in most Endgame scenarios when fully leveled.

Map Overview: Zones and Threat Levels

Navigating the Threat Tiers

Avalon splits into four difficulty zones based on Combat Rating (CR):

  • Zone 1 (Recommended CR 0–9): Old Arsenal and Cliff Town. Low damage output, beginner-safe. Best early-session farming spot to start building CR.
  • Zone 2 (Recommended CR 10–29): Colosseum and Excavation Site. Medium threat, good mid-loop efficiency.
  • Zone 3 (Recommended CR 30–44): High Town and the Winery. Elite Deadeye snipers appear. Worth the risk for better loot density.
  • Zone 4 / Nightmare (Recommended CR 45–60): The top-tier challenge zone. Only players at high CR should farm here regularly. This is where Exotic Ability Boosts drop at the best rates in Season 5.

Key Points of Interest on Avalon

Explore the Car Factory or Listening Post for high-tier loot. These landmarks house high-value contracts. Control these areas to access Workbenches and important resources.

Familiarity with the terrain offers a measurable edge — the average Endgame match lasts 35–45 minutes, and players who know extract routes waste less time reacting to map events and more time completing Assignments. In Zone 3 and Zone 4, pre-learning exit routes before committing to a high-value Workbench run can be the difference between a successful exfil and a CR reset.

Missions, Objectives, and Bosses

Common Zone Objectives

Matches feature dynamic Assignments. You will encounter tasks demanding coordination to secure Essence and XP.

  • Intel Retrieval: Find data pads like Avalon Security or Guild History.
  • Sabotage: Destroy Guild equipment and robots.
  • Prime Target: Hunt down a specific elite enemy.
  • Rescue: Save hostages from fortified camps.
  • Burn Run (Season 5): Time-attack driving challenge through 30 flaming arches — newly added in S5.

Completing tasks progresses your rating. Communicate with your team to handle these missions efficiently and farm "Power Cubes" for faster leveling. Data from the community puts the average Power Cubes per successful Burn Run at roughly 3× higher than a standard Assignment — it's the fastest CR-building activity S5 added.

High-Value Targets and Boss Fights

Face The Guild's elite commanders and machines. Bosses like the Colossus mech or the Toxic Tyrant require heavy weapons. They guard the best loot on the map. Taking them down is a huge win. You should use field upgrades like the Armor Box to counter their attacks. World Events will alert all operators to these massive threats during the match.

Operator Progression and Economy

Rating System and Difficulty Scaling

The Combat Rating (CR) tracks your power — capped at CR 60. Higher ratings unlock harder difficulties and better rewards. If you die or disconnect without a specific protection item, your CR resets to Level 1. Maintaining your rating requires consistent successful exfils. Every CR tier you maintain unlocks a better base loot table at the Buy Stations — it compounds.

Economy Guide: Earning and Spending Essence

Earn Essence by killing targets and finishing contracts. Spend it at Buy Stations for supplies like Self-Revive Kits. Use Jailbreak Machines to upgrade your weapon rarity mid-match. Managing funds determines your longevity. Essence converts to XP upon a successful extraction, helping you level up faster. The current community benchmark for an efficient Endgame run is 8,000–12,000 Essence per exfil on a 4-player squad operating in Zone 2–3.

Best Weapons and Loadout Recommendations

Top-Tier Weapon Builds for Survival

To survive against "The Guild" robots and the Colossus in Avalon, you need high ammo capacity and mobility. The current Season 5 meta relies on LMGs for sustained DPS and SMGs for rapid repositioning.

Primary Weapon (LMG): MK.78 or Mammoth

The MK.78 remains a rock-solid Endgame pick with its 75-round belt — essential for destroying Guild heavy units without reloading. The Mammoth LMG (S5 event weapon) offers higher base damage at the cost of mobility; worth running if you're farming Nightmare zones with a dedicated squad. Recommended MK.78 attachments:

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor — keeps you off the Guild's reinforcement radar.
  • Barrel: 18" Rapid Barrel — increases fire rate to shred armor faster.
  • Optic: Lethal Tools ELO — clean sight picture for tracking moving drones.
  • Magazine: MFS Heatshield Belt Fed — prevents overheating during long boss fights.

Secondary Weapon (SMG): Ryden 45K or Gremlin

The Ryden 45K is proven for sprint mobility in Zones 1–3. The new Gremlin (S5 dual-wield SMG) is a viable alternative for close-quarters extracts — its dual-wield setup gives burst output that's effective against swarming Fear units in Burn Run.

Alternative AR: FG42

If you prefer a versatile primary that works across all Endgame zones, the FG42 (S5 Battle Pass) is the clearest upgrade over the M15 MOD 0. It handles Zone 2–3 cleanly and has enough range for Zone 4 without an LMG's weight penalty.

Essential Equipment and Field Upgrades

  • Tactical: Stim Shot — instantly heals and refreshes Tactical Sprint. The only way to escape a failed extraction attempt. Non-negotiable.
  • Lethal: Pinpoint Grenade — highlights enemy weak points for your whole squad, making Bullet Sponge bosses much easier.
  • Field Upgrade: Hunter Bot — intercepts enemy projectiles and suicide drones. Critical for the Toxic Tyrant boss.
  • Wildcard: Gunfighter — 8 attachments on your primary. Max it on your MK.78 for boss fights.

Core Strategy: How to Survive and Extract

Tactics for Solo vs. Squad Play

Solo runs require stealth and careful movement. Avoid unnecessary fights with The Guild's "Rhino" units. Squads can use flanking tactics and split enemy fire. Squads can handle larger groups and take down World Event bosses efficiently. You can play with up to 32 players in the instance, but only your squad of four is friendly by default.

Securing a Successful Extraction

Call for exfil at designated zones. Defend the area against rushing enemies. Use smoke to cover your retreat. Successfully boarding secures your loot and progression. On average, a Zone 3–4 exfil window opens every 5–7 minutes — plan your Assignment loop to land near an extract when one activates, not cross-map.

Black Ops 7 Endgame Rewards

Exclusive Skins and Blueprints

Dedicated players earn unique items. Unlock specific rewards by completing missions and reaching CR milestones.

  • "Phantom" Blueprint: Reward for completing Mission 3 "Distortion".
  • "Wing Clipper" Charm: Reward for Mission 6.
  • "Bot Buster" Skin: Reward for Mission 10.
  • "Genesis" Camo: The Campaign pinnacle mastery camo — one of BO7's 16 mastery camos (4 per mode: Multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone, Campaign).
  • S5 Burn Run Rewards: Completing the Burn Run Assignment chain earns exclusive S5 Endgame cosmetics not available through any other mode or store.

These cosmetics prove your skill. By completing challenges you'll acquire unique visual upgrades usable across all modes. Need help reaching the top CR tiers faster? timesaver.gg's CoD Camo Unlock service handles the cross-mode grind so you're geared for Nightmare zones from day one.

Mastering the Challenge

Black Ops 7 Endgame offers a complex and strategic PvE challenge on the Avalon map. It fluidly combines signature CoD action with extraction tension, heavily rewarding planning and teamwork against "The Guild." The challenge escalates as you approach Combat Rating 60, offering a truly demanding experience for experienced players — and with Season 5's Burn Run and Exotic Ability Boosts, the mode has more depth than ever. Season 5 is also the last free window through Warzone, so now is the time to master it before Season 6. So unite your squad and claim victory.

FAQ

How do you unlock Endgame in Black Ops 7? Following the major November 21 update, Endgame on Avalon is now instantly accessible to all Black Ops 7 players without completing the story campaign first.

Can you play Endgame solo? Yes. You can deploy alone, though it is harder than playing in a squad of four. Solo runs demand stealth and careful extraction timing — avoid Rhino units and plan your exit before engaging high-value targets.

What rewards are available in BO7 Endgame? Players earn the "Bot Buster" skin, "Phantom" blueprint, Essence, XP tokens, and Season 5 exclusive Burn Run cosmetics. The "Genesis" Campaign mastery camo is also grindable through Endgame challenges.

What is the Burn Run Assignment in Season 5? Burn Run is a time-attack driving challenge added in Season 5 (July 23, 2026). Drive a bomb-rigged vehicle through all 30 flaming arches on Avalon before the timer expires, running over Fear enemies to add seconds. It's the highest Power Cube yield per Assignment in Season 5 and rewards exclusive S5 cosmetics.

Does Combat Rating (CR) carry over between seasons? CR is not a permanent account stat — it resets if you die or disconnect without CR protection. Season content and rewards can change each season, but your Operator's base progression (prestige level, camos, weapon builds) persists. Check your CR protection item before deploying into high-risk Zone 4 zones.
