BO7 Malignant & Oozed Camo: How to Unlock Both Mastery Camos in the Camo Costume Party (Season 6, The Haunting)

Black Ops 7 Season 6 The Haunting Camo Costume Party event splash — animated Halloween mastery camo on a weapon

Quick answer

Malignant is the animated Zombies Mastery Camo in Black Ops 7's Camo Costume Party event (Season 6: The Haunting). You unlock it by completing the Zombies weapon-class challenges on the event's Zombies tab. Oozed is the event's grand-prize Mastery Camo — Activision's own patch notes tell you to "make sure to complete Challenges from all four Modes in this one," and it drops for finishing every weapon-class challenge across all four modes (Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame and Warzone), the same 100% completion that also earns Malignant, Grubs, Gravebloom and Death Row. Clearing any 9 event challenges also drops the new Arcblade melee weapon early. Crucially, this is a limited-time event running September 17 – October 8, 2026 — there's a real deadline, and the Zombies grind is the slowest tab, so start there.

If you want the animated camos without grinding every weapon class across four game modes yourself, our team can knock out the Zombies pool (or the whole event) for you — BO7 Mastery Camo Unlocks.

What the Camo Costume Party actually gives you

The Camo Costume Party is the Season 6 Halloween camo event, launched with Black Ops 7 Season 06 on September 17, 2026. Per the official patch notes, you "Unlock the new Arcblade Melee Weapon and new Camos by completing Weapon Class Camo Challenges in Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone." The event's full reward set is nine camos plus the Arcblade:

  • Four animated Mastery Camos, one tied to each mode's full clear — Grubs (Multiplayer), Malignant (Zombies), Gravebloom (Endgame) and Death Row (Warzone).
  • Four standard event camosUndergrowth, Gray Matter, Zombie Mai Tai and Patchwork — earned from weapon-class challenges as you play.
  • The grand-prize Mastery Camo, Oozed, for completing challenges across all four modes, plus the Arcblade melee weapon for clearing any nine event challenges.

So Malignant and Oozed sit at two different finish lines. Malignant is one mode's worth of work; Oozed is the full clear. The exact per-weapon-class requirements below are as tracked by the community (the in-game event tabs list them; Activision's patch notes name the rewards, not every challenge line) — check your in-game Camo Costume Party tabs for the live counts on your account. Below is what each finish line costs.

How to unlock Malignant (the Zombies Mastery Camo)

Malignant is the animated camo you get for completing the Zombies weapon-class challenges — one per weapon class. This is the hardest of the four mode grinds because several challenges force specific loadouts, rarities or perks. Here's the Zombies challenge list as tracked by the community from the in-game event tab (verify the live counts on your own Camo Costume Party screen):

  • Assault Rifles: Get 500 eliminations with Assault Rifles while Jugger-Nog and Speed Cola are both active.
  • SMGs: Get 500 eliminations with an SMG in Rogue Run.
  • Shotguns: Get 75 eliminations with Shotguns during a single T.E.D.D. Trial.
  • LMGs: Get 30 kills with an LMG without reloading, 10 times.
  • Marksman Rifles: Get 500 kills with a Marksman Rifle from the Mystery Box.
  • Sniper Rifles: Eliminate 4 Elite Zombies with a Sniper Rifle.
  • Pistols: Get 300 eliminations with a Pistol in Cursed.
  • Launchers & Specials: Get 100 eliminations with a Legendary-Rarity Launcher or Special Weapon.
  • Melee: Get 250 kills with a Pack-a-Punch Level III Melee Weapon.

Fastest route: run Rogue Run with the Pumpkin Zombies seasonal layer active — the enemy density is high and it clears the SMG, LMG and Melee challenges in the same sessions. Buy Jugger-Nog and Speed Cola first, then park on a training spot to burn the 500-AR challenge. Save the "single T.E.D.D. Trial" shotgun challenge and the Mystery Box marksman challenge for dedicated runs, since both reset if you extract. Once every Zombies class challenge ticks, Malignant unlocks automatically.

A few grind notes that save real time here:

  • The AR challenge (500 with Jugg + Speed Cola active) is the single biggest time sink. Both perks have to be active at the moment of the kill, so re-buy them after every down. A high-round training corner on any Rogue Run map is the most efficient spot.
  • Pistols "in Cursed" and SMGs "in Rogue Run" are mode-locked, not just weapon-locked — you have to be in the named playlist for the kills to count. Don't waste kills on the wrong mode.
  • The Legendary-Rarity Launcher/Special challenge means you need the weapon upgraded to Legendary via the in-match rarity system before your 100 eliminations start counting.
  • Elite Zombies for the sniper challenge are the larger, health-bar enemies — round-based Elite spawns come faster on higher rounds, so this one is easier late.

How to unlock Oozed (the event grand-prize camo)

Oozed is the highest reward in the event, and it is not tied to any single mode. Per Activision's official Black Ops 7 Season 06 patch notes, the event tells you to "make sure to complete Challenges from all four Modes in this one" — and the community consensus, matching the official camo checklist, is that Oozed is the all-modes completion reward: finish the weapon-class challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame and Warzone (which also nets you Malignant, Grubs, Gravebloom and Death Row along the way) and Oozed drops as the capstone.

One thing to know before you chase it: as of the event going live, several player-facing trackers flagged that Oozed appears on the official camo checklist but was not attached to a visible challenge on the in-game event tabs — the four tabs only surfaced the other eight camos, leaving Oozed's unlock condition unlisted in the UI. As one community guide put it: "Oozed is listed on the official Call of Duty Season 06 camo checklist as one of the nine Camo Costume Party camos, but it is not attached to any challenge on the four event tabs in-game." If your event screen doesn't show an Oozed node, that's expected — keep clearing the four mode tabs and it resolves on full completion. (If you're stuck earlier than that on a specific challenge not ticking, see our Camo Costume Party challenge-not-tracking fix.)

The other two mode camos: Grubs, Gravebloom & Death Row

You can't skip these if you want Oozed, so plan the full clear. Here are the mode-completion camos and the tab each lives on:

  • Grubs — Multiplayer. Clear the Multiplayer weapon-class challenges. Fastest lane for most players: Hordepoint and objective modes let you knock out the launcher, melee and pistol challenges quickly. (The Hordepoint launcher challenge is a known sticking point — here's the real requirement and the fix.)
  • Gravebloom — Endgame. Clear the Endgame weapon-class challenges. The wingsuit-pistol and airborne-launcher challenges are the fiddly ones; the rest come naturally while playing.
  • Death Row — Warzone. Clear the Warzone weapon-class challenges. These are the friendliest for casual players — most (SMG-before-third-circle, sniper headshots, ground-loot ARs) complete just by playing Resurgence and BR normally.

Multiplayer and Warzone are your fast lanes; Endgame is moderate; Zombies (Malignant) is the bottleneck. If your goal is Oozed, do the fast three first so the only thing standing between you and 100% is the Zombies grind you were going to do for Malignant anyway.

Malignant vs Oozed: which should you chase first?

Verdict: unlock Malignant first, then finish the other three modes for Oozed. Malignant is the hardest single mode, so getting it out of the way removes the scariest part of the 100% clear early. After that, Grubs, Gravebloom and Death Row are just steady playtime, and Oozed lands automatically when the last tab ticks.

Why the Camo Costume Party matters right now

Season 6: The Haunting is the final major Black Ops 7 season before Modern Warfare 4 becomes the Warzone host title on October 23, 2026. That makes these animated Mastery Camos a limited window — event camos historically don't carry into the next title's progression, so the Oozed/Malignant grind is a "now or never" for your BO7 collection. If you're also trying to finish your prestige mastery camos before the reset, our Season 6 final-camos guide covers what's worth prioritizing in the last stretch.

If the Zombies challenges are eating your evenings, the BO7 Mastery Camo Unlock service has our players clear the pool for you — fast and secure — so you keep the animated camo without the 500-kill grinds.

FAQ

What is the Malignant camo in BO7? Malignant is the animated Zombies Mastery Camo from the Camo Costume Party event in Season 6: The Haunting. You unlock it by completing the Zombies weapon-class challenges on the event's Zombies tab.

How do you unlock the Oozed camo? Oozed is the event's grand-prize Mastery Camo. Activision's patch notes say to complete challenges from all four modes — Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame and Warzone — and the community consensus is that finishing all four mode camos (Grubs, Malignant, Gravebloom, Death Row) unlocks Oozed as the capstone.

Why isn't the Oozed challenge showing on my event screen? At launch, Oozed was listed on the official camo checklist but wasn't attached to a visible node on the four in-game event tabs — the tabs only surfaced the other eight camos. That's expected; keep clearing the four mode tabs and Oozed resolves on full completion.

When does the Camo Costume Party end? The event runs from September 17 to October 8, 2026, so there's a hard deadline. Modern Warfare 4 then becomes the Warzone host title on October 23, 2026, and event camos generally don't carry into the next title's progression — treat these animated camos as a limited-time collectible.

What camos are in the Camo Costume Party? Nine total, plus the Arcblade melee weapon: four animated Mastery Camos (Grubs, Malignant, Gravebloom, Death Row), four standard camos (Undergrowth, Gray Matter, Zombie Mai Tai, Patchwork), and the grand-prize Oozed camo. Any nine event challenges also unlock the Arcblade.

What's the fastest way to unlock Malignant? Run Rogue Run with the Season 6 Pumpkin Zombies layer — the high enemy density clears the SMG, LMG and Melee challenges together. Buy Jugger-Nog and Speed Cola early for the 500-AR challenge, and save the single-T.E.D.D.-Trial shotgun challenge and the Mystery Box marksman challenge for dedicated runs since they don't persist across extractions.
