Quick answer (updated 2 November 2026, 10:30 UTC): Fortnite replaced its whole Sprite roster on 1 November with update v43.00. In Treasure Hunters you can collect 22 Sprites right now: 12 base Sprites and 10 Fortune variants. The rarest are the two Mythics, Plundarrgh and Sweet Dreams. Every Override Sprite is vaulted from Battle Royale, and Sprite Dust went back to 0. The first Mastery Monday of the season starts today at 9 AM ET (14:00 UTC) with 2x Sprite XP and 2x Sprite Dust.

What are Sprites in Fortnite Treasure Hunters?
Sprites are small companions you carry on your back. The equipped Sprite gives you a passive ability that gets stronger as it levels up during the match. You can carry extra Sprites in your inventory, but only the one in the dedicated Sprite slot gives you its effect, according to the Fortnite Wiki's Sprites page.
The stakes are simple. Extract a Sprite and it joins your collection for good, along with any levels it earned. Die or leave with it, and you lose it and it drops back to Level 1.
This guide covers Fortnite Battle Royale, Treasure Hunters, update v43.00. That season runs from 1 November until Epic's dated end event on 5 December 2026. Fortnite OG is a separate season line, so nothing here applies to it.
All Fortnite Sprites in Treasure Hunters: full checklist
Abilities come from Epic's Treasure Hunters launch notes and fortnite.gg's Sprite tracker. Epic's notes don't list rarities, so the rarity column uses fortnite.gg's labels.
| Sprite | Rarity | Ability | Max-level bonus or scaling | Fortune variant |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halfpeel'd | Rare | Marks eliminations on the map | Detection range grows each level | Yes |
| Re-Pete | Rare | Faster reloads, chance to refund ammo | Both improve each level | Yes |
| Barry O'Fish | Rare | Less stamina used sprinting in water | Gains Slap at max level | Yes |
| Wayfinder | Rare | Reveals nearby Sprites, extra loot from Buried Chests | Detection radius grows each level | Yes |
| Chester | Epic | Chance of extra Chest loot, cancels fall damage | Extra-loot chance grows each level | Yes |
| Exmarks | Epic | Reveals Treasure Maps and Wanted Posters | Spawns a Treasure Map at max level | Yes |
| Kelper | Epic | Restores health while in water | Bigger heals each level | Yes |
| Lil' Squibbly | Epic | Jump into fishing holes to fish them for bonus loot | More loot each level | Yes |
| Lil' Flacko | Legendary | Small shockwave on landing that knocks back enemies | Stronger knockback each level | Yes |
| Transponder Snail | Legendary | Extra resources on pickup, also for teammates using it | More resources each level | No |
| Plundarrgh | Mythic | Opening a Chest boosts pickaxe and movement speed | No level note published | Yes |
| Sweet Dreams | Mythic | Random item at each level | Mythic loot at max level | No |
Coming later: Lil' Uzi Vert Jr. is Legendary on fortnite.gg and generates a Chug Splash effect when you restore shields. It's still marked Unreleased, and Game Rant expects it in Week 2, which Epic dates to 7 November.
One rarity is disputed. fortnite.gg lists Lil' Squibbly as Epic, while esports.gg lists it as Legendary. Check the in-game card if you're tracking it. You'll also see totals of 22, 33 and 35 across outlets. IGN's 22 counts what's collectible today, while 33 and 35 include unreleased Cursed Sprites.
What do Fortune, Cursed and Gold Sprites do?
Variants keep the base ability and add a second effect. Epic lists three this season:
| Variant | Extra effect | Status on 2 November |
|---|---|---|
| Fortune | Reveals nearby Chests | Live, 10 released |
| Cursed | Better chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you | Unreleased on fortnite.gg |
| Gold | Bonus XP from eliminating opponents | Epic dates it to 12 November |
Cursed needs a caveat. Epic announced the variant without a date. Game Rant says Cursed Sprites should arrive on Saturday 7 November, and Vice only says next week is likely, so treat 7 November as expected rather than confirmed. Water damage matters here too, because Crossbones Isle is an island map with plenty of crossings.
Transponder Snail and Sweet Dreams have no Fortune or Cursed entries on fortnite.gg. If you're chasing a full checklist, those two only count once.
How do you get Sprites in Fortnite right now?
Override's Cheat Code Chests are gone. Epic moved Sprite hunting to treasure, and it says "Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters appear across the Island in bigger numbers" this season. Here are the working routes, best first:
- Wanted Posters. Tear one off a wall and it becomes a Sprite Treasure Map. The map leads to a buried Sprite Chest, which you uncover with your pickaxe. Game Rant says the chest holds a guaranteed Sprite.
- Sprite Chests. These also guarantee a Sprite, and the look tells you the type. Game Rant says red Ruby Sprite Chests guarantee a random Fortune variant.
- Regular Chests. Any other Chest can drop a Sprite, though Game Rant calls the chance fairly low.
- Other players. Eliminate someone carrying a Sprite and it drops for you to take.
- A$AP Rocky. Epic says the boss on The $.$. Rocky "can drop" his Shock Rocket and the Lil' Flacko Sprite, so it isn't guaranteed. Our Treasure Hunters map guide shows where the ship sits.
Extract it or it doesn't count. Finding a Sprite adds nothing to your collection until it's extracted. You have three options: call an Extraction Crate at an Extraction Site, use a Portable Extractor, or win the match. Extracting also pays Sprite Dust, starting at 500 and scaling with rarity and level, per the wiki.
The Portable Extractor is the one to buy if you found a rare Sprite in a bad spot. It's sold at the terminals beside Extraction Sites, and the price needs checking in game: the wiki lists 2,500 Sprite Dust, while Game Rant's guide lists 2,000 and a limit of one a day.
How does Sprite Mastery work now?
To master a Sprite, get it to Level 5 and extract it. The wiki's Chapter 7 table puts Level 5 at 4,250 Sprite XP in total:
| Level | Sprite XP needed |
|---|---|
| Level 2 | 450 |
| Level 3 | 600 |
| Level 4 | 1,100 |
| Level 5 | 2,100 |
XP goes to your equipped Sprite and is shared with your squad. These are the wiki's Chapter 7 values, and bot lobbies pay about a quarter:
| Action | Sprite XP | In bot lobbies |
|---|---|---|
| Open a container | 75 | 19 |
| Assist an elimination | 75 | 19 |
| Down an enemy | 100 | 25 |
| Extract a Sprite | 100+ | 25+ |
| Eliminate an enemy | 200 | 50 |
Our math from that table: a full mastery takes about 22 eliminations or 57 containers at normal rates. In bot lobbies, it takes 85 eliminations. Mastery Monday cuts the normal numbers in half, to about 11 eliminations or 29 containers.
Mastery Monday runs every Monday from 9 AM ET, which is 14:00 UTC now that US clocks have changed. Epic promises 2x Sprite XP and 2x Sprite Dust "all day long". Past Mastery Mondays stopped at 9 AM ET on Tuesday, so plan around that unless Epic says otherwise. Our Sprite events schedule tracks these windows.
The rewards sit under the Treasure tab in the lobby. Epic says new Sprites earn Lucky Locators, Golden Fireworks and other Gizmos, with a new page unlocking every week. The Sprite Mastery Strongbox Back Bling upgrades as you progress, and mastering 40 Sprites earns the Navigator's Nosedive Umbrella.
That 40 is further away than it looks. Only 35 Sprites exist in the data today, so the umbrella depends on Gold variants or later Sprites, assuming variants count separately. Epic hasn't spelled that out.

What is the rarest Sprite in Fortnite?
The rarest Sprites are the two Mythics, Plundarrgh and Sweet Dreams. Nobody has real numbers yet. fortnite.gg's drop-rate fields still read 0% across this roster, which means no data rather than no chance, and esports.gg says the percentages are unknown.
Sweet Dreams is the one players are asking about, because Epic calls it "Dream Sprite's distant cousin" and players compare it to the Chapter 7 Season 3 Dream Sprite. Don't expect a jackpot at every level. One r/FortniteBR player reported taking it to Level 4 before losing it and wrote that "all 4 levels it just gave me a medkit". That's a single report, but it fits Epic's wording, which only promises Mythic loot at max level.
What are the best Sprites in Fortnite right now?
There's no tested win-rate data one day into the season, so this ranking is our read of the abilities in the v43.00 notes, not measured numbers.
- Best for fights: Re-Pete. Faster reloads help in every gunfight, and it's only Rare, so losing one hurts less.
- Best all-rounder: Chester. You get extra Chest loot and no fall damage, which also makes hard landings safer.
- Best for pure speed: Plundarrgh. It pays off on every Chest you open, but you'll have to find a Mythic first.
- Best for the Pirate Shop grind: any Fortune Sprite. Revealing nearby Chests means more Chests per match, which is Game Rant's reasoning too. Nothing shows the Pirate Shop token odds themselves change.
- Best for collectors: Exmarks or Wayfinder. Exmarks finds Wanted Posters, and Wayfinder finds the Sprites themselves.
- Highest ceiling: Sweet Dreams. It's strongest if you can survive to max level, and useful Mythic drops depend on the loot pool. See our Treasure Hunters weapons guide for what's in it.
- Situational: Barry O'Fish and Kelper. Both need you in the water, so they suit edge-of-map routes more than fights.
What happened to Override's Sprites and your Sprite Dust?
The wiki records that all Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprites and their variants were vaulted on 1 November. Polygon confirms old Sprites aren't usable this season. They aren't gone from your account, though. You can still see them in the Sprite Garden, and mastered ones work as decorative Back Bling styles.
Sprite Dust is a different story. The wiki's v43.00 entry says it was reset to 0 for all players. One r/FortniteBR player summed it up in a post titled "Thought I had 147k+ sprite dust". Ignore older guides that still send you to cheat codes, because that system went out with Override. Our Sprites-leaving explainer covers what happened before this season.
Epic hasn't said whether this roster survives past the 5 December end event. Master what you want before then, and don't bank Sprite Dust expecting it to carry over.
