TL;DR: what's in the MW4 Warzone playlist right now?
Quick answer: In week 1 of MW4 Warzone Season 1, Battle Royale is Solos and Quads only, on Hajin. There are no Battle Royale Duos or Trios. If you play with one or two friends, the only Duos and Trios queues are Resurgence Duos and Trios on Zodiac, with Rebirth Island joining the rotation "shortly after launch". The rest of the list is BR Casual Quads (Hajin), Resurgence Casual Quads, the limited-time Rally Point (Quads, Zodiac) and weekend-only Massive Resurgence (Quads, Hajin). Verdansk isn't in the playlist yet. Activision lists it as an "In-Season" return later in Season 1. Private Match is switched off for the whole season. If you're farming the Grind for Royalty gold camos, Rally Point and Massive Resurgence don't count, because LTMs are excluded.
The numbers that matter (all official):
- 6 playlists in the week 1 NA/EU graphic: 3 Battle Royale-side, 3 Resurgence-side.
- 2 squad sizes in Battle Royale (Solos, Quads) versus 4 in Resurgence (Solos, Duos, Trios, Quads).
- 20 players in Rally Point, 120 in Massive Resurgence, 44 in Loaded Resurgence (announced for launch but not on the week 1 graphic).
- 10 and 25 Grind for Royalty challenges unlock the two seasonal gold camos, at 1,000 XP per challenge. Only Battle Royale and Resurgence count, LTMs don't.
- 0 Private Matches in Season 1. They return in Season 2.
What is the full Warzone Season 1 week 1 playlist?
Raven Software's "Hajin Conflict" playlist update graphic, posted for the first week of Season 1 (shared on r/CODWarzone), lists these six playlists:
| Playlist | Squad sizes | Map | Tag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battle Royale | Solos, Quads | Hajin | Core |
| Battle Royale Casual | Quads | Hajin | Core |
| Rally Point | Quads | Zodiac | Limited-time |
| Resurgence | Solos, Duos, Trios, Quads | Zodiac, Rebirth Island* | Map rotation |
| Resurgence Casual | Quads | Zodiac, Rebirth Island* | Map rotation |
| Massive Resurgence | Quads | Hajin | Weekend only |
The graphic's footnote reads: "This asset reflects NA and EU playlists. Other regions may differ. Rebirth Island will be enabled shortly after launch." So if you play in Asia, Oceania or South America and see a different list, that's expected, not a bug.
Two things stand out. Battle Royale gets the new map and only two squad sizes. Resurgence gets every squad size but only the smaller maps. That split decides what you can play tonight with your usual group, so here it is by group size.
Can you play Battle Royale Duos or Trios in MW4 Warzone?
Not in week 1. Battle Royale on Hajin is Solos and Quads only, and BR Casual is Quads only. If you queue Quads with two or three people, the game fills the empty slots with randoms unless you turn Fill Squad off and play a man down.
This is the biggest complaint about the launch. In r/CODWarzone, the thread sharing the playlist reached more than 100 upvotes and 80+ comments within a day. Most of the top replies made the same point: players who only ever squad up with one friend can't play Battle Royale as a pair. Several said they'd happily swap Solos for Duos. Others pointed out that Trios was the mode they actually played.
Raven hasn't said when BR Duos or Trios will be added. The graphic is labelled as week 1, and Raven usually posts playlist changes week by week. Treat "no BR Duos" as the launch-week line-up, not a permanent decision, but don't count on it changing until Raven posts the next update.
What to play instead, by group size:
| Your group | Best option in week 1 | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | BR Solos (Hajin) or Resurgence Solos | Both exist, so pick big map or fast respawns |
| 2 players | Resurgence Duos (Zodiac) | The only real Duos queue in the game right now |
| 3 players | Resurgence Trios (Zodiac) | The only Trios queue |
| 3 players who want Hajin | BR Quads + one random filler | Or turn Fill Squad off and play 3v4 |
| 4 players | Anything | Every playlist supports Quads |
If Resurgence Duos or Trios is your new home, our Zodiac Resurgence explainer from the beta covers the basics. Since the beta, Raven has improved Operator visibility and footstep audio on Zodiac and cut Train spawn rates by about 25%.
Where is Verdansk in the MW4 Warzone playlist?
Verdansk isn't playable yet. The official Season 1 intel post files it under "Returning Battle Royale Map: Verdansk (In-Season)". It says Verdansk "returns later in Season 1" with new landmarks, including the Signal Station, the Grazna-7 Launch Complex, Overlook and the Drone Labs. The same post says Battle Royale and BR Casual will run on "Hajin and Verdansk" across the season. In week 1, though, Raven's graphic lists Hajin only.
Rebirth Island is slightly different. It's already in the Resurgence and Resurgence Casual rotation on the graphic, but with an asterisk that says it "will be enabled shortly after launch". If you only see Zodiac when you queue on launch day, that's why.
We went through the full map-by-map breakdown, and what changed on Verdansk and Rebirth for the MW4 integration, in our Verdansk and Rebirth Island Season 1 changes guide. If you're new to the big map, start with the Hajin map guide.
What is Rally Point in Warzone, and is it worth playing?
Rally Point is the new limited-time mode on Zodiac, and it isn't a normal Resurgence match. According to the patch notes, it's a 20-player mode with no Gas Circle, unlimited Resurgence and drop-in/drop-out matchmaking. You join a match that's already running, play as long as you like and leave whenever you want.
What you do in it:
- Fight Hostile Soldiers and complete Contracts to build Cash, and chase your personal elimination record.
- Kill Rewards drop Supply Caches, and the loot inside gets better as your score climbs.
- Special events happen during the match: Hostile Choppers, Bombing Drones, JLTV Deliveries and Elite Hostile reinforcements.
- Neutral Grounds are ceasefire zones with Loadout Stations, Redeploy Stations and Payout Stations, which pay out Cash based on your current high score.
- Squad Formation lets you team up with strangers mid-match, up to four players per squad.
- One purchasable Nuke per match, "first-come, first-served". Your squad has to pool enough Cash to buy it at a Buy Station.
- The Aerial Scanner is a Killstreak you can only get in Rally Point. It reveals enemies through walls in an area.
Rewards: Activision confirms one exclusive weapon Blueprint and two weapon camos for Rally Point. The intel post says to "work with your squad" to unlock them. Neither official post names the three items or lists the unlock requirements, and we're not going to guess. Check the mode's challenge tab in-game.
Is it worth it? It's worth it for two kinds of player. Returning players can learn Zodiac, the new Perks and the Zipline Launcher with nothing at stake. Players chasing the three exclusive rewards should play it while it's here, because the clock icon on the playlist graphic marks it as limited-time. It's not the place to grind your Royalty camos (see the next section). Our MW4 Warzone perks guide is a good thing to read before your first session.
Which playlists count for Grind for Royalty and camo progress?
Only Battle Royale and Resurgence, including the Casual versions. The patch notes say Grind for Royalty progress is shared "across Battle Royale and Resurgence, including both Casual and Regular playlists. Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) are not included."
That matters for this week's list. Rally Point and Massive Resurgence are LTMs, so Royalty challenges you finish there don't count. Here's how the system works:
- Personal challenges are based on your own Kills, Damage, Eliminations/Death ratio, Contracts and Placement.
- Each completed challenge raises the difficulty of the next one, and each one pays 1,000 XP.
- 10 completed challenges unlock the first seasonal camo and 25 unlock the second. In Season 1 these are "Gold Excellence" and "Gold Mosaic".
- You unlock your personal challenges by finishing one match.
Because the targets scale with your own stats, our recommendation is to try the Casual playlists first. They're officially eligible, and the lobbies are usually less punishing, though Raven hasn't published any data comparing progress speed. Weapon Mastery camos are a separate track. We covered those in our MW4 Warzone mastery camos guide.
Grinding camos and weapon levels for MW4 and Warzone at the same time? Season 1 resets the Player Level and shares it across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, and all 33 MW4 launch weapons are in Warzone with Weapon Prestige and their own Warzone Mastery Camos. Lock in your MW4 setup: bot lobbies, camo and weapon leveling are all ready now.
- MW4 Bot Lobbies: easy MW4 Multiplayer lobbies for weapon XP and camo challenges (not Warzone Private Match, which is off this season)
- MW4 Mastery Camo Bundle: every mastery camo, done for you
- MW4 Weapon Leveling: max any gun and unlock every attachment before your next Hajin drop
- MW4 Account Leveling: skip the Season 1 level reset grind
- Warzone Bot Lobbies: easier Warzone lobbies for kill and placement challenges
- All MW4 services

What is Massive Resurgence, and when can you play it?
Massive Resurgence puts Resurgence rules on the full Hajin Battle Royale map with up to 120 players. You redeploy teammates while you survive the Resurgence countdown, and earning points shortens it. A "Wipe Out" rule marks an enemy squad on the map after you eliminate one of its members. The last squad alive wins.
On the week 1 graphic it's Quads only and has the palm-tree icon, which means weekend only. Raven hasn't posted exact start and end times, so check the playlist tab. Activision's intel post calls it "an excellent mode to drop into and learn the map". In practice, it's a lower-stakes way to learn Hajin's layout before you take it into real Battle Royale Solos or Quads.
The Redeploy Drone and Redeploy Drone Beacon Field Upgrade only works in Hajin Massive Resurgence and Rally Point, so you can't take it into standard modes.
Which announced modes are missing from week 1?
Activision's Season 1 post lists more modes than the week 1 graphic shows:
| Mode | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Loaded Resurgence | Announced for Season 1 launch, not on the week 1 graphic | Zodiac / Rebirth Island, 44 players. You deploy with your own Loadout, keep your weapons after death and earn Perks through eliminations |
| Extreme Resurgence | Mid-Season | Details to come in the Season 1 Reloaded blog |
| Rockets and Snipers | Mid-Season | Details to come in the Season 1 Reloaded blog |
| Private Match | Disabled all of Season 1 | Returns in Season 2 with "expanded customization options" |
| Plunder | Not announced | Not in any Season 1 official post |
On Private Match, the patch notes put it like this: "At launch, Warzone Private Match will be disabled for the duration of Season 1. Fret not! Good things come to those who wait!" (Raven Software, Warzone Season 1 patch notes). Raven says it'll come back in Season 2 with more tunables.
One more launch-only option: new and returning players who qualify can opt into a protected Resurgence experience. Raven describes it as "a more approachable introduction before transitioning into regular Warzone playlists". It's part of the refreshed First-Time User Experience, and Raven hasn't published the eligibility rules.
What's the Return to Warzone event in Season 1?
The intel post says to look for the in-game "Return to Call of Duty: Warzone" event, which offers three weapon camos: "Renaissance" (animated), "Violet Striker" and "Neutral Ground". Activision hasn't published the challenge list in the blog, so open the Events tab to see the requirements. More events are promised throughout Season 1, with details coming in the Season 1 Reloaded blog.
If you're coming back after a break, the key things to know are that legacy weapons carry over with Warzone-only preset builds, and that you can't apply MW4 Mastery Camos to them. Our carry-forward and skin toggle guide explains how that works, and the Season 1 roadmap has the dates for the rest of the season.
Known playlist bugs at launch
Raven's Season 1 known-issues list includes one playlist bug: "In rare cases, players may receive a 'Playlist Unavailable' message when attempting to queue for another playlist after leaving an active match." Raven hasn't posted a fix yet. Things worth trying: back out to the main menu and queue again, and if it keeps happening, restart the game. Other issues on the same list include Double XP Token activation freezing the menu until you exit and re-enter it, and Grind for Royalty challenges not showing as completed until you restart the game.
FAQ
Can I buy this loadout instead of farming it? Yes: this loadout costs $32.61 on Timesaver, and a Timesaver pro completes it by hand within 4 hours. How handover works and what happens if something goes wrong: account safety.
Is there Duos in MW4 Warzone? Yes, but only in Resurgence. In week 1 of Season 1, Resurgence Duos runs on Zodiac (with Rebirth Island added to the rotation shortly after launch). Battle Royale on Hajin is Solos and Quads only.

Is Private Match available in MW4 Warzone? No. Private Match is disabled for the whole of Season 1 and returns in Season 2 with expanded customization options.
When does the Warzone playlist update? Raven posts playlist updates week by week. The current graphic is labelled week 1 of Season 1. We'll update this page when the next list drops.
