Palworld's World Tree is the endgame — a Level 75+ region that towers over Palpagos, gates the final boss, and is the only place in the game to farm the Radiant Gems that power the new Awakening system. It's also the part of 1.0 players get stuck on most, because you can't just fly there: the whole region sits behind a sealed barrier and a specific questline. This guide covers the full route — how to unlock it, how to survive the radiation once you're in, what to farm, and how to beat the Level 80 final boss waiting at the top.
Everything below is verified against the official Palworld 1.0 patch notes and the Palworld wiki for the current live build, 1.0.3 (released August 12, 2026).
If the climb to 80 is the part you want to skip, our Palworld leveling service handles it on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, on your own world or a dedicated server.

Palworld - Character Leveling
Get leveled to 80 without the grind
Quick answer: what is the World Tree and how do you get in?
The World Tree is Palworld 1.0's endgame region and story climax, unlocked at the very end of the main quest. To reach it you must (1) beat every Tower Boss across Palpagos, Feybreak, and Sunreach, (2) complete the Panthalus questline and capture Panthalus with a Pal Sphere, then (3) bring Panthalus in your active party to the World Tree terminal to drop the barrier. Inside is a radiation biome full of Level 75–80 Pals, the only Radiant Gem farm in the game, six new best-in-slot worker Pals, and the Level 80 final boss Zenara & Astralym in the Sealed Sanctum. Bring a Gas Mask, World Tree Holy Water, and a Level 80 combat team.
Pocketpair describes it plainly in the 1.0 patch notes: "The key to the story of Palworld is the World Tree, towering over Palpagos, and it is here that players will face their greatest challenge yet."
If your knowledge of Palworld is from the 2024 early-access build, note that none of this existed then — the World Tree, the level 80 cap, the Awakening mechanic, and Radiant Gems all shipped with the 1.0 release on July 10, 2026.
How do you unlock the World Tree in Palworld?
Unlocking the region is a chain, not a single step. Here's the full order.
1. Clear every Tower Boss up to Sunreach
Before the World Tree questline will start, you need to have beaten all the syndicate Tower Bosses — including the two newest ones added in 1.0: Auri & Shaolong (Level 68, Azure Tapestry in Sunreach) and the earlier towers across Palpagos and Feybreak. If you're still working through those, our full walkthrough of all nine towers, in order with counters, is here: Palworld Tower Bosses: all 9 in order.
2. Complete the Panthalus questline
Head to the researcher NPC at the Deserted Islet (roughly -814, -824). He starts the main quest and hands you the Echoing Flute schematic. The quest sends you to four locations where ancient whale skeletons hold Echobones. Collect all four, craft the Echoing Flute, and return to summon Panthalus.
3. CAPTURE Panthalus — do not kill it
This is the single most common mistake in the entire 1.0 endgame. You must capture Panthalus with a Pal Sphere, not defeat it. As Palworld Companion warns, "If Panthalus is killed outright without being caught, the quest cannot continue and you'll need to reset the fight." You need Panthalus alive and in your party for the next step. We break the whole fight down in our How to beat Panthalus guide.
4. Drop the barrier at the terminal
With Panthalus in your active party, walk up to the World Tree terminal at the sealed barrier and interact with it. A cutscene plays, the barrier vanishes, and the World Tree region becomes fully explorable. That's the unlock — from here it's about survival and farming.
What do you need to survive the World Tree?
The World Tree is hostile terrain built around a Level 75+ enemy floor and an environmental hazard. Turn up unprepared and you'll die to the map before you die to a Pal.
- Gas Mask (Corrosive Mist Mask helmet). Large stretches of the region are a corrosive-mist radiation zone. Without the mask equipped, your health drains continuously the entire time you're inside it. Craft one and keep it on before you set foot in the mist.
- World Tree Holy Water. Carry it at all times inside the zone. Without it, high-tier resource nodes like Paloxite Ore and Mythical Wood despawn as you approach — so no Holy Water means no farming. Good news: the 1.0.3 patch (August 12, 2026) made this dramatically easier, cutting Holy Water's weight from 1 to 0.1 (a 90% reduction), extending its duration, and adding it as a reward from World Tree expeditions, World Tree fishing, and the Large Fishing Pond at your base. Per Forbes, the patch was explicitly aimed at "way less grinding" in the endgame.
- Teafant Spring statues. These are scattered through the region and heal you and your entire party between fights — treat them as checkpoints and plan your farming loops around them.
- A Level 80 combat team. Enemies here scale to the cap. If your Pals aren't near Level 80, the World Tree will feel impossible. This is exactly the grind our level-up-fast route is built for.
What can you farm in the World Tree?
The World Tree is the endgame's resource engine. Three things make the trip worth it.
Radiant Gems (for Awakening)
Radiant Gems drop only from Pals inside the World Tree — never from the earlier islands — and they're the raw material for the new Awakening mechanic. Process a gem into an Awakening Crystal of the matching element, then use it on a Pal of that same element to permanently strengthen it. Hunt Pals whose element matches the gem you need. The most generous farm is the region's Level 80 Ground Pals — Anubis, Warsect, and Sekhmet — which drop 10 to 20 Ground Radiant Gems each on a guaranteed kill. Alpha Pals inside the World Tree are the single most efficient gem source. We have a dedicated Awakening & Radiant Gems farming guide that maps out the fastest routes.
Paloxite Ore and Mythical Wood
These are the top-tier crafting materials for endgame gear and ancient-tier structures. Both are gated behind the Holy Water requirement above — keep it topped up or the nodes vanish before you can mine or chop them.
Six best-in-slot worker Pals
The World Tree is home to the strongest base workers in Palworld 1.0, all sitting at Work Suitability Level 8 (the new ceiling after the Work Suitability rework expanded the system to 10 levels). If you're rebuilding your base for the endgame, these are the targets:
| Pal | Best Work Suitability | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Solenne | Handiwork Lv.8 | Highest natural Handiwork in the game; nocturnal (crafts overnight) |
| Shaolong | Watering Lv.8 | Highest natural Watering; also Gathering Lv.5 |
| Dandilord | Planting Lv.8 | Also Handiwork Lv.6, Medicine Lv.6; nocturnal |
| Renjishi | Kindling Lv.8 | Also Handiwork Lv.6, Gathering Lv.5 |
| Aegidron | Mining Lv.8 | Dedicated ore specialist |
| Silvance | Medicine Production Lv.8 | Top healer/med producer |

How do you beat the Sealed Sanctum and the final boss?
Once you're exploring the World Tree, the story climax is the Sealed Calamity questline inside it. Here's the structure:
- Three Level 78 guardian bosses. Unlike Panthalus, these only need to be defeated — no capture required. Clearing them progresses you toward the final door.
- A door sealed by eight Key Spheres. You collect these as you push through the region and clear the guardians.
- Zenara & Astralym — the Level 80 final boss, waiting in the Sealed Sanctum on the center-west/western edge of the World Tree map.
Zenara & Astralym is a pure damage check. The fused boss has roughly 420,000 combined HP and is typeless — it has no elemental weakness, so you can't cheese it with a counter element the way you would a Tower Boss. That means both your character and your combat Pals should be Level 80 before you enter the arena, running your strongest raw-damage kit. Beam/rocket weapons, a fast mount to dodge the overlapping laser and wing-charge attacks, and Awakened combat Pals all pull their weight here.
Spelling note: you'll see this boss written as both "Zenara" and "Zanara" across guide sites. The Palworld wiki and Game8 use Zenara — we've matched that here for consistency.
If you want to skip the Level 75–80 grind entirely and jump straight to World Tree content and the final boss, a Palworld leveling boost gets your account to cap without the repetitive farm.
World Tree endgame checklist
Before you commit to a full World Tree run, confirm you have:
- ✅ All Tower Bosses cleared (through Sunreach's Auri & Shaolong at Lv.68)
- ✅ Panthalus captured and in your active party (for the initial unlock)
- ✅ Gas Mask (Corrosive Mist Mask) crafted and equipped
- ✅ World Tree Holy Water stocked (much lighter to carry after 1.0.3)
- ✅ A Level 80 combat team, ideally with Awakened Pals
- ✅ Empty Pal Spheres for the region's new workers (Solenne, Shaolong, Aegidron, etc.)
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you unlock the World Tree in Palworld? Beat all the Tower Bosses across Palpagos, Feybreak, and Sunreach, complete the Panthalus questline (collect four Echobones, craft the Echoing Flute, and summon Panthalus), then capture Panthalus and bring it in your active party to the World Tree terminal to drop the sealed barrier.
Do you kill or capture Panthalus? You capture it with a Pal Sphere. If you kill Panthalus outright, the questline can't continue and you'll have to reset the fight. You need it alive in your party to unlock the barrier at the terminal.
Do you need a Gas Mask for the World Tree? Yes. Large parts of the region are a corrosive-mist radiation zone that drains your health continuously unless you have the Gas Mask (Corrosive Mist Mask helmet) equipped. You also need World Tree Holy Water, or high-tier resource nodes like Paloxite Ore and Mythical Wood will despawn before you can gather them.
Who is the final boss of the World Tree? Zenara & Astralym, a Level 80 fused boss inside the Sealed Sanctum with about 420,000 combined HP and no elemental weakness. Because it's typeless, it's a raw damage check — bring a Level 80 team and your strongest weapons rather than relying on a counter element.
What level should you be for the World Tree? Enemies scale to Level 75–80, and the final boss is balanced around the Level 80 cap. You'll want your character and combat Pals at or near Level 80 before attempting the Sealed Sanctum.
What do Radiant Gems do? Radiant Gems drop only from Pals inside the World Tree and are used for Awakening — process one into an Awakening Crystal of the matching element, then use it on a same-element Pal to permanently strengthen it. Level 80 Ground Pals like Anubis, Warsect, and Sekhmet drop 10–20 gems per kill.
