Steal An Egg Mutations: All Multipliers & How to Get Every One (September 2026)

Mutations are the single biggest income multiplier in Steal An Egg — and the fastest way to turn a middling pet into a money printer. A mutation is a special variant that attaches to an egg or pet and multiplies its money-per-second (money/s) income on top of everything else. Get the right one on a big pet and you can triple its output from a single roll. This is the complete, current mutation guide for Steal An Egg, updated September 9, 2026 for the Rift Event patch (live since September 7). The game continues to hold the #1 experience slot on Roblox with 2.45M concurrent players recorded on September 6 — a ~3.6× lead over Blox Fruits. Mutation mechanics are unchanged by the Rift Event, but the Monster Chest (source of the Monstrous mutation) now also drops Rift Eggs in the Titan Temple biome during the event window.

Quick answer: Steal An Egg has five commonly-listed mutations, ranked by the multiplier the community has measured: Silver ≈1.25×, Bloom ≈1.5×, Golden ≈2×, Rainbow ≈2.5×, and Spirit Bloom ≈3× (the strongest). Silver, Golden and Rainbow roll randomly on wild eggs or from the Fuse Machine; Bloom and Spirit Bloom come only from the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom biome (Spirit Bloom on just ~2.5% of incubator rolls). There is also a rarer Monstrous mutation (multiplier not confirmed) from a Monstrous Egg, which is a ~1.5% drop from the Monster Chest earned via the Hungry Frog event (feed 5 Parasites), added in the "Monsters Are Coming" update. Multipliers are community-measured, not dev-published — real gains vary slightly by pet weight.

Mutations stack multiplicatively with a pet's rarity, biome and size (weight), so a mutated common can out-earn an unmutated rare. Below is every mutation, its real multiplier, exactly how to get it, and the one honest caveat every other guide skips.

How mutations work in Steal An Egg

Steal An Egg is a steal-and-hatch income sim: you steal eggs from a biome's guardian, hatch them into pets, and every pet generates money/s forever while it sits in your pen. A mutation is a modifier on that income. Three things multiply together to set a pet's real earnings:

  • Base income — the money/s baked into that pet, shown in the in-game Pet Index.
  • Size (weight) — displayed in kilograms; a Huge or massive roll raises income independently of the mutation.
  • Mutation — the flat-ish multiplier covered here.

The mutation is visible on the egg shell before you even pick it up — the shell colour changes (a golden shell, a rainbow shimmer), so you can spot a mutated egg across a biome and prioritise it. That "read it before you steal it" behaviour is what makes patrolling nests worthwhile: the bigger and more colourful the egg, the bigger the payout.

All Steal An Egg mutations and multipliers (September 2026)

Here is every mutation the community currently tracks, with the multiplier most value sites agree on and where each one comes from:

MutationMultiplierRoll sourceNotes
Silver~1.25×Wild eggs · Fuse MachineMost common mutation; a small but reliable bump
Bloom~1.5×Sakura IncubatorThe common Incubator result (~97.5% of rolls)
Golden~2×Wild eggs · Fuse MachineThe go-to "good" mutation you can farm
Rainbow~2.5×Wild eggs · Fuse MachineRare wild roll; strongest mutation you can find outside the Incubator
Spirit Bloom~3×Sakura Incubator (~2.5%)Strongest multiplier in the game; the rarest to land
MonstrousNot confirmedMonstrous Egg from Hungry Frog event Monster Chest (~1.5% drop); feed 5 Parasites to the Hungry Frog to earn a Monster ChestAdded in the "Monsters Are Coming" update (August 2026) via the Hungry Frog limited-time event; multiplier is not dev-published — verify against your pet's money/s card

The one caveat every "5 mutations" article gets wrong: these multipliers are community-measured averages, not developer-published numbers. IGN's official Steal An Egg wiki tested it directly and found the real gain shifts with the pet's weight. In their words:

"We have a Silver TRex that has a 20% monetary increase from the standard TRex money per second amount indicated in the Index. However, our Silver King Snake only has a 17% monetary increase... because of this different amount, we want to avoid placing a definite modifier."

— IGN, All Mutations — Steal An Egg [Roblox] Guide (updated 2026-08-29)

So treat "Silver 1.25×" as a rule of thumb, not a law. The ordering (Silver < Bloom < Golden < Rainbow < Spirit Bloom) is solid; the exact percentage on your specific pet will wobble a few points with its size. Always trust the money/s card on your actual pet over any chart.

The two ways mutations happen

There are exactly two mutation pipelines in Steal An Egg, and they don't overlap.

1. Wild eggs & the Fuse Machine (Silver, Golden, Rainbow)

Silver, Golden and Rainbow appear randomly on eggs that spawn in the biomes. Eggs reset roughly every in-game night (~4.5 minutes), so there is always a fresh batch to check — patrol the nests and grab the recoloured shells first. There is no known way to force which mutation appears on a wild egg; it's pure RNG.

The Fuse Machine (left of the starting area, before the biomes) is the one lever you control. Feed it three or more of the same pet and it has a chance to output that pet with one of the three standard mutations. Higher-earning pets have a better chance to produce a mutation, so fuse your best duplicates, not your Forest chickens.

Warning: if you fuse mutated pets together and not every pet in the fusion carries a mutation, there's a high chance of losing the variant. Fusing three plain copies with one mutated pet will almost always drop the mutation. Only combine mutations deliberately.

2. The Sakura Incubator (Bloom & Spirit Bloom)

Bloom and Spirit Bloom exist only at the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom biome — the game's end-game zone. Reaching it takes enough Speed to clear the guardian blocking that area, so check your treadmill upgrades before the trip. The Incubator runs on Sakura Crystals you collect during the Great Bloom Admin Abuse event, and it applies the mutation to your egg before you hatch it — which means you feed it your best egg, never a throwaway.

The odds are heavily weighted: about 97.5% Bloom (~1.5×) and ~2.5% Spirit Bloom (~3×) — roughly one Spirit Bloom every 40 rolls. The math is worth understanding: an average incubator roll returns about 1.537× base income — `(0.975 × 1.5) + (0.025 × 3)`. In other words, every roll is worth taking, but the expected outcome is basically a plain Bloom. Spirit Bloom is the jackpot tail, not the plan — bank on Bloom and treat a Spirit Bloom as a lucky spike.

How to get the Monstrous mutation

The Monstrous mutation was added in the "Monsters Are Coming" update (August 29–30, 2026). It is the rarest mutation and the hardest to target deliberately. Here is what is confirmed:

  • Source: Monstrous Egg via the Hungry Frog event. The Monstrous mutation arrives via a Monstrous Egg — a ~1.5% reward from the Monster Chest. Monster Chests are earned during the Hungry Frog limited-time event by collecting Parasites (found attached to eggs in all biomes) and feeding five to the Hungry Frog for one chest. The Monster Chest can also reward buffs (egg growth speed, treadmill boosts) and the Flyswatter.
  • Multiplier: not confirmed. The developer has not published an exact multiplier for the Monstrous variant. Because this is a time-limited collectible, there are fewer community-tested examples than for Silver, Golden, or Rainbow. Trust the money/s card on your actual pet over any third-party guess.
  • Separate: Parasite Mutation. The same update also introduced a distinct Parasite Mutation that rolls on Titan Temple monsters ("greatly increases their value" per community guides). This is not the same as the Monstrous Egg mutation — the Parasite Mutation is on the Titan Temple monster pets themselves, while the Monstrous mutation is on the hatched Monstrous Egg pet.

The honest verdict: Monstrous is a collectible bonus, not a reliable farm target. The Hungry Frog event is time-limited, and Monster Chest RNG is doubly gated: first you need Parasites, then you need to hit the 1.5% Monstrous Egg. Use the event to farm Monster Chests while it runs, but plan your mutation strategy around the standard wild-egg and Sakura Incubator pipelines. See the Monsters Are Coming update guide for the complete Hungry Frog event mechanics and Titan Temple pet income data. The Rift Event guide covers the September 7 event layer currently active.

Which pets deserve your best mutations

Because a mutation is a multiplier, its value scales with the base pet you put it on. Putting a 3× Spirit Bloom on a $1/s Forest chicken nets you $3/s — pointless. Put the same mutation on a top-tier earner and it prints. The playbook:

  • Save Rainbow and Spirit Bloom for your highest money/s pets. The higher the base income, the more raw cash the multiplier adds. A 2.5× on a Legendary or better is where income actually spikes.
  • Stack mutation × size. A Rainbow or Spirit Bloom on a large-weight pet applies two separate boosts at once — this is the real end-game income ceiling.
  • Don't waste Golden farm-fusions on low tiers. Fuse duplicates of strong pets so any mutation you roll lands on something worth keeping.
  • Attend Admin Abuse events. They can hand out already-mutated eggs (Golden or Rainbow) without the usual hatch RNG — not a daily method, but free value when one runs on your server.

For the full income ranking of which pets are worth mutating in the first place, see our Steal An Egg value list and the biome-by-biome best pets guide. If you're chasing Bloom mutations specifically, the Cherry Blossom update guide covers unlocking the Sakura zone.

FAQ

What is the best mutation in Steal An Egg? Spirit Bloom is the strongest at roughly a 3× income multiplier. It only comes from the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom biome and lands on about 2.5% of rolls (~1 in 40), so it's also the hardest to get. If you can't reach the Incubator yet, Rainbow (~2.5×) is the best mutation you can find on wild eggs.

How many mutations are there in Steal An Egg? Five are commonly listed and tracked by value sites — Silver, Bloom, Golden, Rainbow and Spirit Bloom — plus a rarer, less-documented Monstrous mutation from the Monster Chest. Roblox's developers don't publish an official mutation list, so always verify against the in-game shell colours and your Pet Index.

How do I get the Golden mutation? Golden (~2×) rolls randomly on wild eggs across the biomes, or from the Fuse Machine when you combine three or more of the same pet. You can't force it — patrol nests for golden-shelled eggs and fuse duplicates of your strongest pets to raise your odds.

Are the mutation multipliers exact? No. The community numbers (1.25×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×, 3×) are measured averages, not developer-confirmed values. IGN's testing shows the actual percentage gain shifts with a pet's weight — a Silver T-Rex gained ~20% while a Silver King Snake gained ~17%. Trust the money/s figure on your own pet over any chart.

Can I lose a mutation? Yes. If you use the Fuse Machine and not every pet in the fusion carries a mutation, there's a high chance the variant is dropped. Only fuse mutated pets together on purpose — never mix a mutated pet with plain copies unless you're willing to lose the mutation.

What is the Monstrous mutation in Steal An Egg? The Monstrous mutation arrives via a Monstrous Egg, which is a ~1.5% reward from the Monster Chest. Monster Chests are earned during the Hungry Frog limited-time event by feeding five Parasites to the frog. The exact income multiplier is not dev-confirmed. Target the standard wild-egg and Sakura Incubator pipelines for reliable mutation farming; Monstrous is a time-limited bonus from the event.

Does the Rift Event add new mutations? No. The Rift Event (September 7, 2026) introduced Rift Eggs and Abyss Overlord Boss Tokens but did not add new mutation types. The existing six mutations (Silver, Bloom, Golden, Rainbow, Spirit Bloom, Monstrous) remain the complete list. Rift Eggs hatch into event-exclusive pets with their own income rates but can still roll existing mutations when hatched from the Monster Chest.

Do mutations stack with size? Yes. Size (weight) is a separate attribute from mutation, and both multiply the base income independently. A Rainbow or Spirit Bloom on a Huge/large-weight pet is the highest-income combination in the game.
