Updated November 3, 2026 (launch eve): this page is now a launch-day addon list. We checked every addon below against its CurseForge file list or GitHub release data on November 3 and kept only those with a published file for the Forever client. The beta-UI backup guide that used to lead this page is now a short section near the end, because the beta closed on October 23.

Quick answer: WoW Forever needs addon files built for the Forever client (game version 1.60.1, interface 16001). Classic Era files won't load. On November 3 we found Forever releases for 38 popular addons, including Questie, Deadly Boss Mods, BigWigs, Details!, Auctionator, Baganator, Bagnon, Leatrix Plus, TomTom, Bartender4, ElvUI, Plater, Pawn and RestedXP. WeakAuras has no official Forever build; two community forks, Musca Auras and ForeverAuras, fill the gap. OmniCC, Postal, Shadowed Unit Frames, Cell and NovaWorldBuffs had no Forever file yet (Postal has a community port, Posty). Addons go in World of Warcraft/_forever_/Interface/AddOns.

Which addons work in WoW Forever at launch?
Every addon in these tables had a Forever-tagged file on November 3. "Forever file" means the file is marked for game version 1.60.1 on CurseForge, or its GitHub release metadata lists the forever flavor at interface 16001. Versions and dates are the newest stable Forever file we found, and each name links to the file list or release page we checked. A Forever file means the author built it for this client. It doesn't guarantee every feature works on launch night.
Questing, leveling and maps
| Addon | What it does | Forever file (date) |
|---|---|---|
| Questie | Quest objectives and givers on your map | v12.4.0 (Nov 2) |
| RestedXP Guides | Step-by-step leveling guide addon | v4.11.29 (Oct 29) |
| TomTom | Waypoint arrow and coordinates | v4.3.13 (Oct 24) |
| Leatrix Maps | Map tweaks, zone levels, reveals unexplored areas | 1.60.25 (Oct 21) |
| HandyNotes | Map notes framework | v1.6.32 (Nov 3) |
| GatherMate2 | Remembers herb and ore nodes | 1.52.4 (Nov 3) |
| AllTheThings | Collection tracker | 5.4.6 (Nov 1) |
Questie's own release notes mark the Forever build alongside the Classic ones. One caution: the RestedXP addon is free, but its Forever leveling guides are sold separately by RestedXP.
Dungeons, raids and combat
| Addon | What it does | Forever file (date) |
|---|---|---|
| Deadly Boss Mods | Boss timers and warnings | 12.1.19 (Nov 3) |
| BigWigs | Boss timers and warnings | v427.8 (Oct 23) |
| Details! | Damage and healing meter | build 15339 (Oct 16) |
| ThreatClassic2 | Threat meter | 2.75 (Oct 10) |
| Nova Instance Tracker | Instance lockouts and run history | v2.32 (Oct 31) |
| Gargul | Loot distribution for raid leaders | v8.0.2 (Nov 1) |
| AtlasLoot Classic Forever | Dungeon and raid loot browser | 1.2.7 (Oct 21) |
| BugSack | Captures Lua errors quietly | v12.1.9 (Oct 26) |
Install DBM or BigWigs, not both. Raids don't open until December 9, so boss mods matter most for the nine new dungeons at launch. Note that LittleWigs, BigWigs' dungeon add-on, had no Forever flavor in its latest release. AtlasLoot Classic Forever is a separate project from the AtlasLootClassic addon you may know from Era.
Interface, bars, bags and chat
| Addon | What it does | Forever file (date) |
|---|---|---|
| ElvUI | Full interface replacement | v16.00 (Oct 13) |
| Bartender4 | Action bars | 4.18.4 (Nov 3) |
| Dominos | Action bars | 11.5.1 (Oct 31) |
| Plater | Nameplates | v662 (Oct 28) |
| Masque | Button skins | 12.1.8 (Nov 2) |
| MoveAny | Move and resize default frames | v1.14.1 (Nov 2) |
| Baganator | Combined bags and alt inventory | 839 (Oct 28) |
| Bagnon | Combined bags | 12.1.7 (Oct 15) |
| Syndicator | Item tracking across characters | 288 (Oct 27) |
| Prat 3.0 | Chat improvements | 3.9.114 (Nov 2) |
| Chattynator | Chat window replacement | 228 (Oct 21) |
| Leatrix Plus | Dozens of quality-of-life options | 1.60.25 (Oct 21) |
| Narcissus | Character screen and gear view | 1.8.7 (Nov 2) |
ElvUI isn't on CurseForge. Its GitHub source lists interface 16001 in the v16.00 table of contents, so download it from the official ElvUI release and install it by hand. Leatrix Plus and Leatrix Maps publish a separate file with "forever" in the name, so pick that one, not the Classic file.
Auction House, gear and healing
| Addon | What it does | Forever file (date) |
|---|---|---|
| Auctionator | Auction House search, posting and price history | 341 (Oct 13) |
| Pawn | Gear upgrade arrows | 2.14.1 Forever (Nov 2) |
| Simple Item Levels | Item levels on icons | v74.1 (Oct 16) |
| Clique | Click-casting | v5.1.0 (Nov 1) |
| VuhDo | Healer raid frames | v3.219 (Oct 24) |
| HealBot Continued | Healer raid frames | 26.10.30 (Oct 30) |
| Grid2 | Raid frames | 4.1.9-forever (Oct 21) |
Grid2's Forever version is a separate line on CurseForge. Its GitHub release doesn't carry it, so install from CurseForge.
All-in-one addons
| Addon | What it does | Forever file (date) |
|---|---|---|
| OneForAll - Forever | Modular companion: quality of life, professions and recipes, hunter pets, dungeons and quests, talent calculator | 6.0.3 (Nov 2) |
| Musca Auras | WeakAuras fork for Forever | 1.14.0 (Oct 22) |
| ForeverAuras | WeakAuras fork for Forever | 1.1.0 (Oct 28) |
OneForAll - Forever is a Forever-only project by the CurseForge author smoergi, with about 94,000 downloads on November 3. It overlaps with several single-purpose addons above, so turn off modules you already cover elsewhere.
Which popular addons don't work in WoW Forever yet?
These had no Forever-tagged file on November 3. Using a Classic Era file through "Load out of date AddOns" is a gamble, because Forever runs on a different client.
| Addon | Latest release we checked | Use instead |
|---|---|---|
| WeakAuras | 5.22.1 (Oct 10), no Forever file | Built-in Cooldown Manager, Musca Auras or ForeverAuras |
| OmniCC | 11.2.8 (Dec 2025) | None yet |
| Postal | v4.3.5 (Oct 2), retail only | Posty (Forever), a community port on GitHub |
| Shadowed Unit Frames | v4.3.9 (Jan 2026) | ElvUI unit frames |
| Cell | r279 beta (Aug 2026) | VuhDo, HealBot or Grid2 |
| NovaWorldBuffs | v3.48 (Nov 1), no Forever file | None yet |
| ClassicCastbars | v1.9.1 (Jul 2026) | Plater castbars |
| RCLootCouncil Classic | 1.5.1 (Sep 2026) | Gargul |
| Spy Classic | v1.3.8 (Aug 2026) | None yet |
| LittleWigs | v12.1.22 (Oct 23), no Forever flavor | None yet |
We couldn't confirm a Forever file for Zygor (sold through its own app, not CurseForge) or Attune (an older Forever file exists, but we couldn't confirm the newest). Treat both as unconfirmed until you see a Forever version in your addon manager.
Authors are still shipping launch updates. Questie, DBM, Bartender4, GatherMate2 and HandyNotes all pushed new files on November 2 or 3, so check for updates once more after the November 4 maintenance.
Is there WeakAuras for WoW Forever?
No official build. The WeakAuras team's latest release, 5.22.1, has no Forever file. Two community forks do:
- Musca Auras, which describes itself as a "WeakAuras fork for WoW Forever that keeps working in combat," with a 1.15.0 beta posted on November 2.
- ForeverAuras, a second fork, with about 323,000 downloads on November 3.
Neither is made by the WeakAuras team, so existing WeakAuras import strings may not behave the same. For plain cooldown tracking, try Blizzard's built-in Cooldown Manager first.
What does WoW Forever have built in?
Blizzard filled several old addon jobs during the beta. From the official development notes unless noted:
- Cooldown Manager. "By default, the Cooldown Manager is disabled, and it can be enabled in Options under the Gameplay Enhancement settings," Blizzard wrote on September 24. By October 8 it covered all classes, racial abilities and trinkets.
- Damage Meter. Built in, confirmed by the developers during the September 17 live Q&A.
- Edit Mode. Move and resize the default frames. Since October 8, layouts are saved per UI type, and the November 2 notes say gamepad settings can also be customized through Edit Mode.
- Aggro Display. Searching "Threat" in Options finds it.
- Auto Attack and Auto Shot setting, a detailed scrolling combat text menu and an Auction House equip-level column (all October 15).
- Gamepad support, now in "a complete functional state," per the November 2 notes, which also mention improved gamepad compatibility with user-created addons.
Your first login will also ask you to pick the Classic or Enhanced Experience Preset, which sets the screen layout, quest markers and one-bag. Our Classic vs Enhanced guide explains each setting.

Why don't Classic Era addons work in WoW Forever?
Forever looks like Vanilla but runs on the modern client. A Blizzard representative, quoted by Icy Veins, said it offers "the vast majority of APIs available in 12.1.5", including the addon restrictions Blizzard introduced with Midnight.
That means three things:
- You need the Forever file. Classic Era, TBC and Retail files show as out of date.
- Combat logic is restricted. In combat, addons can show many values but can't freely calculate with them. That's why some favorites, like WeakAuras, have no official port.
- No sign of a change. An EU forum thread asking for relaxed rules got no official reply, and Blizzard's final development notes don't mention any change to the restrictions.
How do you install addons in WoW Forever?
The live client uses its own World of Warcraft/_forever_ folder.
- With an addon manager: open the CurseForge app, choose your Forever installation and install or update from there. CurseForge's own guide says: "Open CurseForge, choose your Forever live installation, and check for addon updates." Wago Addons also tracks Forever versions for addons published there, such as HealBot Continued.
- By hand: download the file marked for Forever, unzip it into _forever_/Interface/AddOns, and check that the folder holding the .toc file sits directly inside AddOns, not one level deeper.
- In game: open AddOns on the character screen and tick each one. Only use "Load out of date AddOns" for files you trust.
Use one addon manager, not two. Two apps updating the same folder cause conflicts. For launch night, a light setup is safer: Questie, one boss mod, Auctionator and a bag addon. Add the rest once the client is stable.
Can you still bring over your beta UI?
Yes, if the beta folder is still on your drive. The beta used World of Warcraft/_classic_beta_, and closing the beta didn't delete it.
CurseForge's migration guide covers it in four moves: back up both folders, copy Interface and WTF from _classic_beta_ into _forever_ with the game and CurseForge closed, rename the account folder inside WTF/Account to your live account name, then update every addon. Do it before you set anything up on live, because pasting replaces matching files. Copying doesn't update addons either: as CurseForge puts it, "Copying files does not update them." Edit Mode layouts live in WTF too: a player's file-by-file migration guide on the official forums lists edit-mode-cache-account.txt in your account folder and edit-mode-cache-character.txt in each character folder. Copy them across with the rest, and if a layout doesn't come through on live, import a saved export string or rebuild it by hand.
Still need the client? Our pre-install fix covers the greyed-out button, and the launch day checklist has the rest of tonight's list, including the 10:00 a.m. PST maintenance on November 4.
UI sorted but short on time? timesaver.gg's WoW Forever team starts on November 4.
- WoW Forever Power Leveling to 60: any range from 1 to 60, played by hand on the quest route
- WoW Forever Gold: for class training, riding and Auction House buys
- All WoW Forever services: the full Forever lineup in one place
Blizzard's EULA bans paid leveling and selling gold, and Blizzard says buyers of illicit gold can lose that gold or their account. Our gold buying and ban risk guide explains the risk.
FAQ
What addons work in WoW Forever? On November 3, Forever files were published for Questie, Deadly Boss Mods, BigWigs, Details!, Auctionator, Baganator, Bagnon, Leatrix Plus, TomTom, Bartender4, Dominos, ElvUI, Plater, Pawn, RestedXP and about two dozen more. Install the file tagged for Forever, not the Classic Era one.
Where is the WoW Forever addons folder? On the live client it's World of Warcraft/_forever_/Interface/AddOns. The beta used _classic_beta_, and that folder stays on your drive until you delete it.
Do Classic Era addons work in WoW Forever? No. Forever runs on the modern client with Midnight's addon restrictions, so you need files built for Forever (game version 1.60.1, interface 16001).
Is WeakAuras available for WoW Forever? Not officially. Musca Auras and ForeverAuras are community forks built for Forever, and the built-in Cooldown Manager covers all classes, racials and trinkets.
Does WoW Forever have a built-in damage meter? Yes. Blizzard confirmed a built-in Damage Meter, and Details! also has a Forever version if you want more detail.
Is OneForAll - Forever safe to use? It's a regular CurseForge addon by a community author, not a Blizzard tool. As with any addon, install it from CurseForge or a trusted manager, and disable modules that duplicate addons you already run.
