Battlefield 6 Ranked: Season 5 REDSEC Ranks, RP and Entry Fees
Battlefield 6 Ranked is out of testing. Season 5 moved Ranked Battle Royale beyond Battlefield Labs, and two things still catch players out: the mode you are climbing is REDSEC Battle Royale, not Conquest or Breakthrough, and your end-of-season reward depends on where you finish, not the highest rank you touched.
This guide applies to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on Game Update 2.1.1.0, the live build since Season 5 launched on October 13, 2026. EA's news pages listed no newer patch notes on October 30, 2026. Rules were re-checked against EA's pages that day, and anything EA has only stated for an earlier season is labelled.
Quick answer: Battlefield 6 Ranked means REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale: 25 squads of four, played from Career Rank 5 upward. You climb seven ranks, Rookie to Master, then fight for the platform-specific Elite Top 250. Matches cost 0 RP at Rookie and up to 90 RP at Master and Elite Top 250, so a poor game can lose points. End-of-season rewards follow your finishing rank, not your peak. Ranked Multiplayer for standard Battlefield 6 modes is still not live.

Is Battlefield 6 Ranked out of Battlefield Labs?
Yes. EA's Update 2.1.1.0 notes say: "Ranked Battle Royale officially launches with Season 5, moving beyond Battlefield Labs and into a new competitive chapter for REDSEC." The same update added redesigned Ranked badges and new rewards.
Three features sit next to Ranked and get mixed up constantly:
| Feature | What it is | Does it use RP? |
|---|---|---|
| Ranked Battle Royale | 25 squads of four on a seasonal ladder | Yes |
| Rapid Royale | 36-player Trios or Solos, roughly 10 to 13 minutes, with redeploys | No Ranked ladder in EA's mode guide |
| Multiplayer Leaderboards | Stat tracking for standard Multiplayer, due in Phase 2 on November 10 | No |
Leaderboards are not Ranked Multiplayer. EA's October 21 community update says: "We are currently testing MP leaderboards internally, and the plan is to release them later during season 5." EA's help page says "Ranked is only available in Battlefield REDSEC." The latest statement of intent we found for the bigger feature was "our future launch of Battlefield 6 Ranked Multiplayer" in the July 9 Season 4 Ranked update. None of the Season 5 pages we checked gives it a date.
How do you unlock Ranked in Battlefield 6?
You need Career Rank 5. EA's Ranked help page puts it plainly: "You need to be at least Career Rank 5 to join Ranked matches." Then open the Play tab and choose Ranked. REDSEC is free to play, so you do not need to own Battlefield 6, and Career XP from either game counts toward that gate.
Career Rank and Ranked rank are separate tracks. Career Rank comes from XP and unlocks hardware, as our Career Rank cap guide explains. Your Ranked badge comes from RP. PC and console are matched separately, and a mixed squad goes into the PC pool.
What are all the Battlefield 6 ranks and entry fees?
There are seven ranks, and each splits into five divisions. Division I is the lowest and V the highest, so Bronze V is one step below Silver I. Past Master, the top 250 RP earners on each platform form Elite Top 250, with PlayStation, Xbox and PC on separate leaderboards.
EA's help page lists current entry fees, and this table compares them with Season 3. Thresholds and Shield counts come from the last full table we could find from EA, in its Season 3 Ranked overview, so confirm those two columns in the Ranked Hub.
| Rank | Entry fee now | Season 3 fee | Season 3 RP at Division I | Season 3 Shields |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rookie | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| Bronze | 20 | 10 | 1,250 | 1 |
| Silver | 30 | 20 | 2,500 | 1 |
| Gold | 35 | 25 | 3,750 | 2 |
| Platinum | 50 | 40 | 6,250 | 2 |
| Diamond | 60 | 50 | 10,000 | 2 |
| Master | 90 | 60 | 15,200 | 3 |
| Elite Top 250 | 90 | 60 | Top 250 by RP on your platform | None |
EA labels the fee list "From Season 4", and we found no separate Season 5 one. Bronze doubled from 10 to 20 RP, and Master rose 50%, from 60 to 90 RP. EA also cut every Rookie division threshold by 100 RP and every Bronze threshold by 50 RP for Season 4, so those early numbers run lower than the table shows.
How do Ranked Points work in Season 5?
RP comes from three sources: confirmed kills, confirmed assists and final placement. EA's help page defines a confirmed kill as downing an enemy who then bleeds out or is finished, so a down that gets revived is not a confirmed kill.
The most recent numbers EA has published are the Season 4 rules, and we found no Season 5 change to them:
- Confirmed assists pay the same RP as kills.
- Kills and assists each pay full value up to eight per match.
- Anything past eight pays 10% of normal value.
- Placement RP reaches the top 22 of the 25 squads, so the first three squads out earn none.
Exact RP per kill and per placement live on the in-game scoring table, not on any EA page we could find. EA's advice is short: "Focus on winning—support your squad, take on fights carefully, and play the objective."
Your first job in any match is to earn the fee back. Only RP above it moves you forward, and at Master that means 90 RP before you gain anything. An early wipe after a hot drop is among the costliest mistakes on the ladder: you pay the fee, miss most placement RP and usually have few kills.
How do demotion and Shields work?
"Your rank can change during a Season if you're demoted or when Ranked resets," EA's help page says. Promotions aside, those are the only two causes it lists. If matches keep costing more RP than you earn, you can slip back a division or a rank.
Shields delay that. You receive a number of them each time you enter a new division or rank, and a Shield keeps you in place when you would otherwise drop. EA's Season 3 overview gave one Shield up to Silver, two from Gold to Diamond and three at Master, and said Elite spots have none because they are measured against other players. Check the Ranked Hub for the live count.
Do Ranked rewards use your highest rank?
No, and this is the rule worth planning around. There are two reward sets:
- First-time rewards should arrive as soon as you reach a new rank or division for the first time.
- End-of-season rewards are based on where you stop. EA says: "You earn rewards based on your finishing rank, not the highest rank you reached during a Season."
EA adds that you also get the rewards for each rank you passed, so finishing Silver pays Rookie, Bronze and Silver. Rewards work across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. If one is missing, EA says to wait 24 hours, since some items take longer.
The practical result: a late losing streak can cost you an end-of-season tier. If you reach the rank you want close to the deadline, every extra match puts the fee at risk. The Ranked screen shows the time left, on a clock icon near the top left. We found no published Season 5 Ranked end date. EA's October 21 timeline only lists "2027 - Season 6 and more", and our Season 6 release date guide tracks that window.
EA calls Season 5 rewards "new permanent rewards", but we found no full public list. The Ranked Hub in your Profile tab shows them.
How does the Ranked reset work?
Ranked resets when a new season starts. EA's help page says you get a new rank based on your final rank in the last season you played, and you start with all the demotion Shields for that rank. Anyone who has never played starts Unranked.
We found no Season 5 placement table from EA. The Season 4 one is the best reference, since EA told players to "expect a similar reset" in future seasons:
| Previous finish | Season 4 start |
|---|---|
| Rookie | Rookie I |
| Bronze or Silver | Bronze I |
| Gold or Platinum | Silver I |
| Diamond or Master | Gold I |
A launch-day EA Forums bug report says some players kept their Season 4 rank instead, including players stuck at Diamond, one of whom said it blocked squadding with friends. That is a player report, and we found no EA confirmation. If your rank fell to Unranked, EA says that may be a bug too.

Why is Ranked matchmaking taking so long?
EA changed how lobbies form. Since September 2026, matchmaking looks for similarly ranked players first, and if it cannot find a match it "will then gradually broaden over time to a wider range of ranks." The September 30 community update confirmed the updated bands were already live. Tighter bands should mean better games, but they can also mean longer waits.
Players have complained about waits before and since Season 5. EA Forums reports from September cite 15 to 20-plus minutes in Iraq and a "Matchmaking timed out" message, and a recent r/Battlefield6 thread raises the same issue. Those are community reports, not EA figures. EA acknowledged part of it in its October 21 Q&A: "we are aware that some challenges still exist in APAC and South America," and "The team is currently testing some changes to help alleviate those challenges." That answer gave no fix date.
Squad limits also matter. Everyone must be equally ranked or within two ranks of each other, so a Silver can group with Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum.
What happens if you leave or go AFK in Ranked?
Finish the match. If you quit, you pay the entry fee and lose all RP earned in that game, and EA says "Penalties get higher if you keep leaving matches." The Season 4 update described a cooldown that stops a serial quitter "and their squad" from playing Ranked until it expires. EA's September 2 update then confirmed escalating matchmaking restrictions for repeat leavers on designated playlists.
Update 1.4.3.0 added an AFK kick with a warning and let players report AFK teammates through EA Connect. It also moved the pre-lobby leave penalty grace period from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. We found no published AFK timer, and players in a recent r/Battlefield6 thread report kicks after about a minute away, though not specifically in Ranked.
Two protections help. If you crash, the Reconnect Feature can put you back in for a limited time. And EA says "As long as you stay in the match, you won't face penalties if someone in your squad leaves."
What should you run in Ranked in Season 5?
Season 5 changed the fights more than the rules. Armor plates now go on 20% faster in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale, and Update 2.1.1.0 added bullets-to-kill against armor across much of the arsenal. EA also says "more expansive gunplay tweaks" for both Multiplayer and REDSEC are targeted for Phase 2 on November 10, so re-check any build after that date.
We found no EA Ranked tier list. The third-party wzstats.gg Ranked tracker, updated October 30, 2026, lists these class leaders. Unlock routes come from EA's weapon roster and armor changes from the 2.1.1.0 notes:
| Class | Tracker #1 | Unlock | Change vs armor in 2.1.1.0 |
|---|---|---|---|
| LMG | KTS100 MK8 | Assignment BULLET STORM 1 | One more bullet past 46 m |
| SMG | SGX | Default | One more bullet from 9 to 85 m |
| Sniper | M2010 ESR | Default | Not listed |
| DMR | SVDM | Assignment DEADEYE 1 | One more bullet past 21 m |
| Carbine | SG 553R | Assignment DANGER CLOSE 2 | One more bullet within 31 m |
| Assault rifle | KORD 6P67 | Assignment RAPID FIRE 1 | One more bullet past 46 m |
Ranked is not a bring-your-own-gun mode. EA's Season 3 overview says you "drop in with a Sidearm, loot better weapons", and your own builds arrive through Custom Weapon Drops, as GameSpot's REDSEC loadout guide explains. Unlocks matter for those drops: four of the six guns above need an Assignment, while the SGX and M2010 ESR are free. Our weapon unlocks guide explains how to level them, and the Season 5 best weapons list covers standard Multiplayer, where the picks differ.
Battle Royale players at Field Training Level 1 or higher now redeploy with the EF88, PP-19, M121 A2 or Mini Scout for Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon respectively. Ranked also keeps a limited vehicle pool: scout helicopters and the 7.7M NSW RHIB remain, while Vehicle Keycards, MBTs and IFVs stay out. Our REDSEC guide covers the wider mode.
How is Ranked different from the Open and Elite Series?
Ranked is the queue. The Open and Elite Series are organised tournaments with separate registration through Battlefy.
- Open Series: October 24 to November 21, 2026. Event #2 runs October 31 to November 1, Event #3 runs November 7 to 8, and the Final is November 21.
- Elite Series: December 4, 2026 to January 16, 2027, with 48 teams per region and $1,338,000 in total prizes.
- Qualification spots: 15 Elite Series slots for the Americas, 15 for EMEA and 24 for APAC.

FAQ
Is Battlefield 6 Ranked available now? Yes. REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale officially launched with Season 5 on October 13, 2026 and needs Career Rank 5. Ranked Multiplayer for standard Battlefield 6 modes is not live, and we found no EA date for it.
What are the ranks in Battlefield 6? Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Master, each with five divisions from I up to V. The top 250 RP earners on each platform reach Elite Top 250. New players start Unranked.
How much does a Ranked match cost? Rookie is free. EA's help page lists 20 RP at Bronze, 30 at Silver, 35 at Gold, 50 at Platinum, 60 at Diamond and 90 at Master and Elite Top 250.
Why did I lose RP after a match? You paid an entry fee and did not earn it back. Leaving early also forfeits all RP from that match.
Do I keep my rewards if I get demoted? First-time rewards are delivered when you earn them, and EA calls Season 5 rewards permanent. End-of-season rewards follow your finishing rank, so a demotion before the season ends can lower them.
Can I play Ranked with friends of a different rank? Only if everyone is equally ranked or within two ranks of each other. A Silver can squad with Rookie through Platinum.
