Updated October 28, 2026, the day the event ended · applies to Season 88 (Shocktober) and the Keep the Lights On community event, October 21–28, 2026. First published October 23.

Quick answer: Keep the Lights On ended on October 28, 2026. Players across r/ClashRoyale report that the community battery paid out the top tier: two 5-Star Lucky Chests for everyone who took part, givers and takers alike. The emote was the surprise. Based on what players actually received, it went by your net power contribution, not by how many days you picked each side. Giving added more power per pick than taking removed, so a lot of players who took on most days still ended up as contributors and got King's Treasure instead of Goblin's Precious. Players who finished at exactly 0% net got no emote. If your chests or emote haven't appeared, close and reopen the game before anything else.

The event did what Supercell said it would. The official Shocktober season notes pitched it as "Will you be a generous contributor or a total reward hog?", and the official Clash Royale X account warned on launch day: "Every decision affects EVERYONE'S final reward, so choose wisely…" What it never spelled out was how your emote would be decided. That gap is why the subreddit spent the morning of October 28 arguing about "wrong" emotes. This page covers the final result, the emote rule as players found it, all seven daily picks, and the fixes for missing rewards.

Key takeaways

  • Dates: October 21 to October 28, 2026, with 7 daily picks. Each pick needed one battle win that day.
  • Final community reward: players report getting 2× 5-Star Lucky Chests, which is the 100% tier. Everyone who took part got it, whichever side they picked.
  • Emote rule: players found it went by net power, not by day count. Give picks added more power than Take picks removed, so 2 gives could outweigh 4 or 5 takes.
  • Neutral = nothing: players who finished at 0% net contribution got neither emote.
  • Take paid more every day. The red side offered 10 Hero Coins, an Overflowing Gold Crate (players reported 31k–44k Gold), a Legendary Wild Card, an Evolution box and a Champion Wild Card. The blue side never offered anything close.
  • Missing chests? Restart the game. If that fails, switch to another account and back, which several players said worked.

What was the final Keep the Lights On reward?

Keep the Lights On final reward tiers: 25% one 3-Star Lucky Chest, 50% three 4-Star Lucky Chests, 75% one 5-Star Lucky Chest, 100% two 5-Star Lucky Chests

The battery's level when the event closed set one shared reward. The official rule: "The total amount of power left at the end of the event will decide the community reward, which will be available to everyone who participates!" The in-game info panel listed these tiers:

Power left at the endCommunity rewardAmount
Below 25%Nothing—
≥ 25%3-Star Lucky Chest1
≥ 50%4-Star Lucky Chest3
≥ 75%5-Star Lucky Chest1
100%5-Star Lucky Chest2

On October 28, players posted the same result again and again. One thread was titled "Got 2x 5 star chest rewards and emote as a taker", and another player jokingly thanked the givers for their two 5-Star Lucky Chests. That's the 100% tier. Supercell hadn't posted an official result when we checked on October 28, so this comes from player reports, but they all match.

How much are two 5-Star chests worth? Supercell's published Magic Lucky Chest odds say that at Chest Level 13 and above, a 5-Star roll has a 9.5% chance of a Full Evolution and 5.5% of Evolution Shards. With two rolls, that's roughly an 18% chance of at least one Full Evolution. The other ~82% of the time you get cards, Gold or Wild Cards, and the subreddit was full of that outcome. One player opened "two commons that I already have enough cards to max", and another said the Overflowing Gold Crate they took on Day 3 "was literally better than both boxes". Chest Level rises with your Arena, so lower-arena accounts get smaller contents.

Which emote did you get, and why did so many players get the "wrong" one?

In-game event info: contributors earn the King's Treasure emote, takers earn the Goblin's Precious emote

The only official wording was on the event's info screen: "As a reward for (or in spite of) your actions during the event, you'll earn an emote based on how you contributed." Contributors got King's Treasure (a laughing King holding a crown chest). Takers got Goblin's Precious (a Goblin clutching a crown, a nod to Gollum).

Most of the community, and most guides including the first version of this one, read "how you contributed" as whichever side you picked more often. On a 7-day event that would mean 4 picks decide it. The emotes players actually received don't fit that reading:

  • A player who took on 3 days and gave on 1 still got King's Treasure.
  • A player who gave on the first 2 days and took on 5 also got King's Treasure, and posted it under the title "Bad news for people who wanted the golum emote but gave at least 2 times".
  • One player who gave just once and took on every other day ended up neutral, with no emote.

The explanation that fits every report is net power. The event screen showed a running Net Contribution percentage, and that's what decided the emote. A post titled "Quantity of power matters more than number of days" put it this way: "The numerical value of power contributed is taken into consideration for deciding the emote, rather than number of days you took power." Another player summed it up as "It was based on your percentage, not which choice you made more."

Why gives outweighed takes: the Give side added a lot of power. On Day 1 our screenshot showed +225, and players said later days showed +450. One player estimated that a Take removed only around a quarter of that, although nobody posted exact figures. So two gives could cancel out four or five takes. Supercell hasn't confirmed the formula. But every emote report we read on October 28 fits it, and none fits the "majority of days" reading.

If you got the emote you didn't want, there's no in-game way to swap it, and Supercell hasn't announced a fix. Contacting support in game (Settings → Help and Support) is the only option. Since the result matches the screen's own Net Contribution figure, don't expect a change.

What were all 7 daily Give and Take rewards?

Clash Royale Keep the Lights On event screen on Day 1 showing the community battery, the Take power side and the Give side adding +225 power for a Lucky Chest

Each day, after one battle win, you pulled the red lever (Take power) or the blue lever (Give power), and the other side locked. Here is the full week, from in-game screenshots, player reports on r/ClashRoyale and event coverage (Sportsdunia, TheClick):

Day (date)🔴 Take power reward🔵 Give power rewardBetter personal pick
Day 1 (Oct 21)10× Hero Coins1× Lucky ChestTake
Day 2 (Oct 22)5× Epic Wild Cards1× Gold Crate (~900 Gold reported)Take (close)
Day 3 (Oct 23)1× Overflowing Gold Crate (31k–44k Gold reported)1× Gold Crate (~700 Gold reported)Take, by a lot
Day 4 (Oct 24)1× Legendary Wild Card1× Epic Wild CardTake
Day 5 (Oct 25)1× Evolution box (listed as a 4-Star Evolution Chest by TheClick)10× Rare Wild CardsTake, by a lot
Day 6 (Oct 26)1× Magic Lucky Chest40× Common Wild CardsTake
Day 7 (Oct 27)1× Champion Wild Card1,000 GoldTake

Days 6 and 7 come from one coverage source plus player posts. The Day 7 Champion Wild Card is backed up by a thread titled "Did anyone else not receive a champion wild card from the event's last day choice?".

A few things stand out:

  • The red side won every single day. The best Take rewards were 10 Hero Coins (5% of a 200-coin Hero), the Overflowing Gold Crate, the Evolution box and the Champion Wild Card. One player said some takers got full Evolutions they didn't already own from it. If you're spending those Hero Coins, see which Hero to unlock first.
  • Gold amounts were personal. Supercell's drop-rate hub says many chests scale with your Chest Level. The 31k–44k, ~700 and ~900 figures are player reports, not fixed values.
  • The Give side was mostly filler. Its job was the battery and the King's Treasure emote, not your inventory. One player who mostly gave said they did it because they "have two decks maxed and don't care about anything else" and "wanted the king emote".

So was giving power a mistake?

Not if you wanted King's Treasure. But in terms of loot alone, taking was the better play every day, and the final result made that clearer.

Givers didn't get anything extra at the end. Everyone who took part received the same two 5-Star Lucky Chests whether they gave seven times or never. On the personal side, takers collected the Hero Coins, the big Gold crate, a Legendary Wild Card, the Evolution box and a Champion Wild Card. Givers got a Lucky Chest, some Gold and a pile of Common and Rare Wild Cards. One frustrated thread asked "What was even the point of this event if givers and takers get the same reward at the end?". A reply gave the cynical answer: "That was the point of the event."

The battery still filled because each give was worth more power than each take removed. A minority of givers was enough to push it to 100%, and once it got there, every extra give only helped the giver's emote. That's the design lesson: the shared reward didn't depend on you, and the personal reward did. Next time Supercell runs a give-or-take event, three rules will hold up:

  • Check how much power each side moves. If the screen shows a net-contribution figure, that figure is what counts, not your number of picks.
  • Take the rare items (Hero Coins, Evolution boxes, Champion Wild Cards). These are hard to replace. Gold and Common Wild Cards aren't.
  • Give only for the emote you want, and check your Net Contribution before the last day so you don't end at exactly 0%, which got players nothing.

Why can't I see my Keep the Lights On rewards?

Several players couldn't find their 5-Star chests or emote when the event closed. Here's what worked for them, from quickest fix to slowest:

  • Close the game fully and reopen it after a few minutes. Rewards from server-side events sometimes don't appear until the client refreshes.
  • Switch accounts and come back. A post titled "How to claim your event 5 star lucky drops" said switching to a different account and then back to your main made the emote and both chests appear, and commenters confirmed it worked. If you only have one account, use the restart method above.
  • Check that you actually played. The shared reward only goes to players who took part, meaning you made at least one daily pick.
  • Still missing after a day? Contact support from Settings → Help and Support and include a screenshot of the event screen. Players reporting a missing Day 7 Champion Wild Card should do the same.

How does this fit into the rest of Shocktober and Season 89?

Keep the Lights On was one of several events in Season 88 (Shocktober, October 5 – November 2, 2026). These are still running for the last few days of the season:

Season 89, King vs King, starts November 2 with Evolution Giant and Evo Mirror. Our Season 89 guide has the release notes. For every remaining Shocktober date, see the Shocktober event schedule.

A reminder before you grind those wins: since the August 2026 balance changes, Hero and Champion abilities are single-use per deployment (Boss Bandit is the exception). Any guide that tells you to "use it again after the cooldown" is out of date.

FAQ

When did the Clash Royale Keep the Lights On event end? It ran from October 21 to October 28, 2026, with one pick a day for 7 days. The final community reward and emotes were handed out when it closed on October 28.

What was the final reward for Keep the Lights On? Players report receiving two 5-Star Lucky Chests, which is the top 100% battery tier. Every participant got it, whether they gave or took power. Supercell hadn't posted an official result when we checked on October 28.

Why did I get the King's Treasure emote when I took power most days? Based on what players received, the emote went by net power contribution, not by how many days you picked each side. A Give added much more power than a Take removed (players reported +450 on later days), so even 1–2 gives could outweigh several takes.

Why didn't I get any emote from Keep the Lights On? Players who finished at exactly 0% net contribution got neither emote. If you weren't neutral, restart the game, or switch accounts and back, to make the reward appear.

Is it better to give or take power in Clash Royale? For your own rewards, taking was better on every day of this event. The shared reward still reached the top tier, and givers got nothing extra at the end. Give only if you want the contributor emote.

How do I claim my Keep the Lights On 5-Star chests? They should appear automatically after the event closes. If they don't, close and reopen the game. Several players said switching to another account and back fixed it. Contact support in game if they're still missing after a day.
