Updated October 28, 2026 · now based on Supercell's official New Season: King vs. King! release notes (published October 27, 2026), the October 23 TV Royale episode and the official Ranked trophy schedule · applies to Season 89 (November 2 – December 7, 2026).

Quick answer: Clash Royale Season 89, "King vs. King," starts Monday, November 2, 2026, and its events run until December 7. Supercell's official release notes (October 27) confirm two new Evolutions: Evo Giant (unlock in Pass Royale or with Wild Shards) and Evo Mirror (in the Shop from week 2, or with Wild Shards). The King of Cards event (November 9 – December 7) boosts a different group of win conditions each week. You earn Crown Tokens from it and spend them in the Royal Market, where the best items unlock after you spend 3,000 Crown Tokens. Also confirmed: Daily Puzzles (November 2–8), the Deck Wizard replacing the Magic Wand from week 2, three themed Challenges, and the CRL World Finals in Shanghai, November 6–8. A new competitive mode will be revealed there. The Ranked unlock rises to 14,000 trophies in November, and there is no balance pass at the season start.

Season 88 was a party season: Spooky Chess, three kinds of C.H.A.O.S, a horror-movie Album. Season 89 goes the other way. Supercell's notes open with "Playtime is OVER! This season is all about competition."

We first published this page from the TV Royale preview. Now that the official release notes are out, every section below has been checked against them, and the places where the preview and the final notes disagree are marked.

When does Clash Royale Season 89 start and end?

Season 89 starts Monday, November 2, 2026. The official notes run the first Daily Puzzle on November 2 and end the King of Cards event and the Royal Market on December 7. That fits the usual Monday turnover: Season 88 started on Monday, October 5.

Every Season 88 event still running ends on November 2, per the official Shocktober release notes. That covers the Shocktober: The Movie! Album, C.H.A.O.S Draft, C.H.A.O.S Power Surge and the CRL 20-Win Challenge ("October 26th – November 2nd").

Because the notes count in weeks, here is the calendar they imply:

How does Evo Giant work, and how do you unlock it?

Evo Giant is the headline card of Season 89. The official notes: "This big lug still targets buildings, and is great as the front liner of a push, but let him take enough damage and the gentle Giant is no more! Giant becomes enraged, leaving a trail of Rage that boosts all troops who follow it. Plus, each of his attacks make that Rage trail bigger, and BIGGER."

Evo Giant in Clash Royale Season 89 leaving a purple Rage trail that his supporting troops walk through, from the October 2026 TV Royale

That last sentence is new compared with the TV Royale preview. The trail doesn't just exist, it grows with every attack he lands. Supercell's summary: "The longer you keep him alive, the stronger your push can get."

How to unlock Evo Giant: "Unlock him in Pass Royale, or unlock him with Wild Shards!" So you don't need to play an event for him. Pass Royale owners get him from the Pass, and everyone else can use Wild Shards.

How to play him: Evo Giant does two jobs. Once he has taken enough damage he becomes enraged himself, and he Rages whatever walks behind him. So put support troops directly behind him in the same lane: Musketeer, Minions, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Witch, or a Graveyard dropped once he reaches the tower. Rage only helps if something is standing in it. Giant is also boosted for the whole season in the King of Cards event. If you play Giant Graveyard, our Giant Graveyard deck guide covers which Evolutions fit that deck today, and Evo Giant becomes a direct candidate for that slot.

How to play against him: kill the support, not the Giant. A Giant alone in his own Rage is still just a Giant. Spells that clear the troops behind him (Fireball, Poison, Arrows or The Log, depending on what he's carrying) break the push up before the trail gets big.

Still unconfirmed: Supercell gave no health threshold, Evolution cycle count or Rage numbers. RoyaleAPI's preview (shared on r/ClashRoyale) puts the trigger at 50% health. Treat it as provisional until the card is live.

What does Evo Mirror do?

The official rule: "Evolved Mirror copies the last card you played, but evolved, with 1 extra level! Of course, the card must have an Evolution, but the card you mirror doesn't have to be in an Evo Slot or in your Collection! If the Evolution exists, Evolved Mirror will make it happen." If the card has no Evolution, "you get what you would get with base Mirror: same card, 1 level higher."

How to unlock Evo Mirror: "Mirror Evolution will be available in the Shop from the second week of the season, or you can unlock it with Wild Shards!" Supercell hasn't listed a Shop price in the notes. On r/ClashRoyale, one thread asks whether a new offer is worth buying over the paid Evolution. One reply was blunt: "Only impatient idiots would buy the evo." Since Wild Shards also unlock Evo Mirror, you don't have to pay for it if you have shards saved.

The real limit is in how Mirror works. One player put it simply: "you have to play regular mirror first." Like any Evolution, Evo Mirror has to cycle as a regular Mirror before the evolved copy charges up. Mirror also costs 1 more Elixir than the card it copies, and you have to play that card first. As another commenter worked out, mirroring a Golem means "you pay 9 elixir for an 8 elixir card," while mirroring a 1-Elixir Spirit doubles the cost. The thread's early bet is that cheap bait decks built around Evo Goblin Barrel will use it best.

Our full Evo Mirror guide has the combos and the best cards to copy.

How does the King of Cards event work?

This is the backbone of Season 89. It runs November 9 – December 7, and from week 2 "you'll have the chance to try out a different set of boosted win conditions each week (not including Giant or Mirror, both which will be boosted for the full season)."

The official weekly groups (the dates are our week-count mapping):

WeekDatesBoosted win conditions
Week 2Nov 9 – 15Battle Ram, Hog Rider, Mortar, Minion Giant, Goblin Barrel
Week 3Nov 16 – 22Balloon, Royal Hogs, Three Musketeers, Royal Giant, Ram Rider, Wall Breakers
Week 4Nov 23 – 29Goblin Giant, Skeleton Barrel, Golem, Electro Giant, Lava Hound, Elixir Golem
Week 5Nov 30 – Dec 7X-Bow, Miner, Graveyard, Goblin Drill
Full seasonPer SupercellGiant, Mirror

That's 21 win conditions across four weeks, plus Giant and Mirror all season. According to Supercell, the event and its weekly challenges "will guide you through every single win condition, awarding you with Crown Tokens and other rewards along the way."

Season 89 win condition milestones in the Clash Royale preview build: win 5 battles with Balloon or Royal Hogs for 180 Tokens each

In the TV Royale preview, each milestone read "Win 5 battles with [card]" and paid 180 Tokens. Those numbers came from a preview build and are not in the release notes, so treat them as a rough guide until the event opens on November 9.

How to plan it:

  • Week 2 is the easy week for most players. Hog Rider, Battle Ram, Goblin Barrel and Minion Giant are common in ladder decks. Our 2.6 Hog Cycle guide covers the classic Hog list.
  • Week 4 is the heavy week. Golem, Lava Hound, Electro Giant and Elixir Golem are expensive beatdown cards. Use the Beatdown Challenge that week if you don't own them at a good level.
  • Week 5 is siege and chip. X-Bow, Miner, Graveyard and Goblin Drill, paired with the Siege & Chip Challenge.

What are the Season 89 Challenges?

The notes list three dated Challenges:

  • Quick Wit Challenge: November 16 – 23
  • Beatdown Challenge: November 23 – 30
  • Siege & Chip Challenge: November 30 – December 7

Clash Royale win condition Challenges with a free entry fee in the Season 89 TV Royale preview

Each one likely lines up with that week's win-condition group: fast-pressure cards in week 3, beatdown in week 4, siege and chip in week 5. TV Royale showed these with pre-built decks and a free entry fee, under preview names like "WinCon Fast Pressure Challenge," which is probably what became Quick Wit. The final names in the release notes are the three above. The notes don't repeat the pre-built-deck detail, so check the Challenge screen before you count on it.

How do the Royal Market and Crown Tokens work?

The official notes: "Items and cosmetics of all kinds will be available for you in exchange for Crown Tokens. Crown Tokens are a limited-time currency earned through events, and in the Shop."

  • Dates: November 9 – December 7.
  • Opening: "The market is fully open from Week 2 of the season."
  • The top items: "the most coveted items unlocked after you spend 3,000 Crown Tokens."
  • Where Crown Tokens come from: events (King of Cards and its weekly challenges) and the Shop.

Clash Royale Season 89 market preview from TV Royale with rewards priced at 300 Tokens each and a final rewards might vary notice

A correction to our first version: we wrote that the market was called "Season Market," because that's the label in the TV Royale footage. The official release notes call it the Royal Market and the currency Crown Tokens, so those are the names to use. The preview also showed items at 300 Tokens each with a "Final rewards might vary" banner. If prices stay close to that, the 3,000-Token gate means about ten purchases before the best items open up. That's an estimate from preview prices, not an official number.

Crown Tokens are a limited-time currency. Spend them before December 7.

How do Clash Royale Daily Puzzles work?

The first puzzle is live: our Daily Puzzles solutions page has the Bone Blockade answer and adds each new puzzle as it arrives. From the official notes: "Each day, from November 2nd – 8th, a new puzzle will appear with a unique scenario for you to solve."

  • You get at least 1 and at most 4 cards, and each card can be played only once.
  • The scenario never changes: "same cards, same places, same times."
  • No rewards. Supercell says the puzzles are "about skill and bragging rights for the one who solves each puzzle in the fewest amount of attempts."
  • A second set of puzzles comes later in the season.
  • Supercell adds: "P.S. You may want to pay attention to the puzzle names…"

The preview puzzles were named "Heavy Metal Tour" and "Ram Reroute." Since the enemy plays never change, every failed attempt teaches you something. Watch where each enemy troop lands and when, then plan your plays around that timing.

What is the Deck Wizard?

"Taking the Magic Wand's place, Deck Wizard helps you build a deck from scratch or it can create one around your favorites!" In your Duel Deck, it suggests cards from your Collection that you aren't already using in your other decks.

The Clash Royale Deck Wizard on Trophy Road suggesting a Golem Beatdown deck built from cards the player owns

It arrives in week 2 in the Trophy Road deck-building tab. Supercell says it's "rolling out this feature on a testing basis, so if you don't see it at first, it will be available to you on a later date." The preview showed suggestions like Golem Beatdown (3.9 average Elixir) and Hog Rider Cycle, each with a short game plan. Supercell hasn't said whether it takes the current meta into account, so treat its picks as a starting point. For arena pushes, our arena guides go further, from Arena 4 up to Arena 16.

What changes for Ranked in Season 89?

The trophy requirement to unlock Ranked rises to 14,000 in November. This comes from Supercell's July Update to Ranked Trophy Requirements post, not from the Season 89 notes:

Months (2026)Trophies to unlock Ranked
July & August13,000
September & October13,500
November14,000

Supercell's wording: "we're lowering the Trophy requirement to 13,000 starting today, and increasing the time between Trophy requirement increases to 2 months, until we settle back on 14,000 Trophies."

  • If you're between 13,500 and 14,000 right now, you have until the November 2 reset before the bar moves up.
  • Reaching Champion league in Ranked during Season 88 gives you automatic entry next season, no trophy grind.
  • Ranked itself uses steps, not trophies. You climb leagues by wins and losses.

Will there be balance changes at the start of Season 89?

No. Supercell's October balance changes page says "we are implementing the seasonal November balance changes earlier, in mid-October" and "we won't be introducing balance changes at the start of the November season," because of the World Finals. Supercell left room to adjust afterwards.

The Season 89 notes do include six bug fixes:

  • Mega Knight is no longer immune to Evolved Hunter's net while jumping.
  • Evolved Mega Knight is no longer immune to Tornado while attacking.
  • Bandit is no longer knocked back when dashing into Evolved Wizard's shield.
  • Evolved Wall Breakers now do death damage while being pulled in by Fisherman.
  • Evolved Battle Ram's charge is now interrupted by Zap and similar effects when it pushes itself back before its next charge.
  • Hero Ice Wizard now refunds Elixir if defeated before his projectile hits the target.

So the November 2 meta is the meta from the October 19 update, plus Evo Giant and Evo Mirror. Our October 2026 balance changes breakdown and best decks for October 2026 stay current into the new season.

When are the CRL World Finals, and what is the new competitive mode?

CRL World Finals: November 6–8, 2026, in Shanghai. The official notes: "a 3-day event featuring the 16 best players in the world, where they'll compete in a double-elimination bracket to crown the CRL26 World Champion!" Matches start at 03:00 UTC each day. You can watch on the Event Platform, where you can follow matches, interact and claim rewards.

The new mode is still a secret: "A new feature that will take competition to whole new leagues is coming soon to an Arena near you! All will be revealed at World Finals." Supercell hasn't said how it relates to Ranked or Trophy Road. We'll add it here once it's announced.

What should you finish in Season 88 before November 2?

  • Shocktober: The Movie! Album Event (ends November 2). This is the free Evo Electro Giant. See our Evo Electro Giant guide.
  • CRL 20-Win Challenge (ends November 2). "Win 20 games with less than 3 losses." Deck picks: 20-Win Challenge guide.
  • C.H.A.O.S Draft and C.H.A.O.S Power Surge (end November 2). See best C.H.A.O.S mode decks.
  • The Ranked unlock at 13,500. If you're close, push before it moves to 14,000.
