Fortnite Map Fragments: Locations, Week 2 Unlock Time (8 Nov) & Reward

Quick answer (updated 7 November 2026, Fortnite Treasure Hunters, v43.00): There are 6 Map Fragments to collect in Treasure Hunters. Your in-game Quests tab tracks them as "Collect Map Fragments 0/6". Each one pays 10,000 XP, according to Destructoid. Collecting all six unlocks the free X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen, and you don't need the Battle Pass. Fragment #1 is live now on the lower decks at the south end of the battleship at The $.$. Rocky. Fragment #2 unlocks Sunday 8 November at 9 AM ET (14:00 UTC) when Lil Uzi Vert takes over the Stronghold. Many guides still say 7 November, but Epic moved Captain's Day to Sundays on 4 November. Epic has dated the first four Captain weeks and a Chapter 7 end event on Saturday 5 December, but hasn't said when fragments #5 and #6 appear.

What are Map Fragments in Fortnite Treasure Hunters?

Map Fragments are a season-long collectible in Treasure Hunters, the mini-season that replaced Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" with update v43.00 on 1 November 2026. One fragment appears at the current Captain's POI each week. You pick it up by walking over and holding the interact button on the "Gather the map fragment" prompt.

Epic introduced them in the official Treasure Hunters launch notes with a hint about where they lead:

"While you're exploring, you might also turn up a mysterious Map Fragment. Where does it lead? That's for you to find out - though a sharp-eyed sailor might notice it's just one piece of something bigger. Keep checking back each Captain's Day - there's a new one every week." — Epic Games, Treasure Hunters launch notes, 1 November 2026

Your progress lives in Quests, then Treasure Hunt. It's the first card above the Treasure Chest Hunt tasks. The screenshot below is from launch week, so its countdown is older than the current one.

When does Map Fragment 2 unlock?

Sunday 8 November 2026 at 9 AM ET (14:00 UTC, 15:00 CET, 17:00 MSK). That's Week 2's Captain's Day. Epic's launch notes date it the same way: "Week 2 - Lil Uzi Arrives (November 8): Lil Uzi and Cuddle Team Leader claim a fort of their own".

Most fragment guides published in the first days of the season print 7 November. That was right when they were written. Early screenshots of the Quests tab showed "The hunt for Map Fragments continues in 5d 0h 47m", and guides read that countdown as 7 November. Then on 4 November Epic changed the weekly rhythm:

"Treasure Hours move to Saturdays, rounding out each week before a new Captain arrives Sunday." — Fortnite Status on X, 4 November 2026

The same post put the next Captain's Day on 8 November at 9 AM ET, with a new Captain taking over "the Stronghold" and bringing a new SMG. So Saturday is now Treasure Hours and Sunday is the new Captain, and the new fragment comes with the Captain. If the fragment card still shows a countdown on Saturday night, that's expected.

Today (Saturday 7 November) is the first Saturday of Treasure Hours: 2-4 PM ET and 9-11 PM ET. Everyone drops with a Shock Rocket and a Self-Revive. It's a good window to clear fragment #1 at The $.$. Rocky if you haven't yet, since the boss fight there is easier with a Self-Revive in your pocket.

Where is Map Fragment 1 at The $.$. Rocky?

The first fragment is inside the beached battleship at The $.$. Rocky, A$AP Rocky's Captain POI on the east side of Crossbones Isle, just east of Cursed Cavern.

Step by step:

  • Land on or next to the grey battleship at The $.$. Rocky. Epic calls A$AP Rocky "the Island's first Boss" here, so expect a fight if he's still up.
  • Head down into the lower decks. Use the stairs, or break the floor under you with your pickaxe to drop faster.
  • Move toward the south end (the stern) of the ship. As you get close, a small white diamond icon with an exclamation mark appears on your screen and marks the spot.
  • Find the scroll on the floor of a lower-deck room, next to some crates and a gas tank.
  • Hold interact on "Gather the map fragment". The quest card ticks to 1/6.

One outlet places the fragment toward the front of the ship near the helipad. The more detailed walkthroughs (Beebom and Destructoid) both put it on the lower decks at the stern, or the south end. Trust the white diamond icon over any written description, because it points at the exact spot once you're below deck.

Where are all the Fortnite Map Fragments, and when do they unlock?

Here's every fragment, with what Epic has confirmed and what is still only expected. Week dates come from Epic's launch notes and the 4 November Fortnite Status post. POI names come from the live map data.

Fortnite Treasure tab Adventure page showing Week 1 to Week 5 captains and the End of Chapter Event

The in-game Treasure, then Adventure page (launch-week screenshot above, so the countdowns are old) shows five weekly Captain slots followed by an End of Chapter Event chest. Epic's news post confirms that event: "keep Saturday, December 5, open... Don't miss an unforgettable Chapter 7 end event." That suggests the sixth fragment is tied to the finale, but Epic hasn't said so. Some outlets name the fifth Captain as a "Buccaneer Brigand Jones" and put the last fragment on 5 December. Treat the fifth Captain and the last fragment's date as unconfirmed until Epic posts them.

Where will Map Fragment 2 be?

Epic hasn't shown the spot yet, and nobody can find it until the Sunday update. Here's what we know about the area:

  • The POI: Epic's notes say Lil Uzi and Cuddle Team Leader "claim a fort of their own", and Fortnite Status says the new Captain takes over "the Stronghold". The fort POI in the north-east of the island is labelled Fortune's Fort in the current map data. Epic's launch notes describe a fortress POI called Fort Fortuna, and Epic's reveal map card labelled the north-east fort "Lil' Uzi's Stronghold". Head north-east from Loot Lagoon.
  • The pattern: fragment #1 was hidden indoors on a lower level of the Captain's own structure, not out in the open. Expect the same in the fort: check the inner rooms and anything below the ramparts first, and watch for the white diamond icon.
  • The timing: Captain's Day POIs get crowded for the first hours. If you only care about the fragment, land on the edge of the fort and work inward rather than hot-dropping the centre.

We'll add the exact spot here once the Week 2 update is live. Our Crossbones Isle map guide tracks how the Captain POIs change each week.

What do you get for collecting all 6 Map Fragments?

The quest card shows a single completion reward: the X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen. It's a treasure map of the island with a red X drawn on it. The name is the most interesting clue Epic has dropped so far. The Zero Point is the core of Fortnite's main storyline, and Epic's own wording calls each fragment "just one piece of something bigger".

What the reward is not:

  • Not V-Bucks. The fragment quest lists XP and the loading screen, nothing else.
  • Not a Battle Pass item. It sits on the free Treasure Hunt quest track, so every player can earn it.
  • Not the Pirate Shop. The Pirate Shop Access Token comes from chests, not from fragments. Our Pirate Shop token guide covers the odds question.

At about 10,000 XP each, the six fragments add up to 60,000 XP, which is three quarters of one 80,000 XP level. Weekly quests pay 20,000 XP each, so three weeklies equal the whole fragment hunt and a fourth beats it. Our weekly quests page lists the current batch.

Can you still get a Map Fragment after its week?

Some outlets say each fragment stays available once it unlocks, so a missed week can be caught up later. Epic hasn't confirmed that, and the fragments sit inside Captain POIs that change each week. Fragment #1 is the real test: if the ship and its lower decks are still standing after Lil Uzi's arrival on 8 November, late collection works.

Until that's proven, the safe play is:

  • Grab each fragment in its own week. One landing at the Captain POI is enough.
  • Pair it with the weekly boss or Captain quest so the same drop clears several cards.
  • Check Quests, then Treasure Hunt after every pickup. If the counter didn't move, the pickup didn't register. Rejoin a match and try again before the POI changes.

Is the Map Fragment counter bugged?

A few things look like bugs but often aren't. These are possible causes, not tested fixes:

  • "The hunt for Map Fragments continues in…" means the next fragment isn't live yet. It's a countdown, not an error.
  • Counter stuck after picking it up: the pickup is a hold interaction. If you were knocked or moved mid-hold, it may not have completed, so look for the scroll on the floor and grab it again.
  • No white diamond icon: walkthroughs say it appears as you get close below deck at The $.$. Rocky, so you may not see it from the top deck.

If the quest still won't move after a clean pickup, check Epic's public status page for a known issue before you grind more matches.

What else changes on Captain's Day (8 November)?

The fragment isn't the only thing that arrives on Sunday. From Epic's launch notes and status posts:

  • Lil Uzi Vert and Cuddle Team Leader take over their fort, with a new SMG. Our Lil Uzi Vert page covers the boss and the 12 November Shop date.
  • Buggy and the Megalodon "crash onto the Island" the same week.
  • The Cursed Sprite arrives on 8 November: Epic says it "increases your chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you".
  • Mastery Monday follows on 9 November from 9 AM ET, with 2x Sprite progress.

For the full week-by-week calendar, including Cap'n Miku and Teto on 15 November, see our Treasure Hunters season hub and the Miku and Teto page.

FAQ

How many Map Fragments are there in Fortnite? Six. The in-game Treasure Hunt quest reads "Collect Map Fragments" with a target of 6, and finishing it unlocks the X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen.

When does the second Map Fragment come out? Sunday 8 November 2026 at 9 AM ET (14:00 UTC), with Lil Uzi Vert's Captain's Day. Guides that say 7 November were written before Epic moved Captain's Day to Sundays on 4 November.

Where is the first Map Fragment in Fortnite? Inside the battleship at The $.$. Rocky, on the lower decks toward the south end of the ship. A white diamond icon marks it once you're below deck.

Do you need the Battle Pass for Map Fragments? No. Map Fragments are on the free Treasure Hunt quest track, and so is the loading screen reward.

How much XP does a Map Fragment give? Destructoid reports 10,000 XP per fragment, or 60,000 XP for all six. Epic hasn't published the number, and one Battle Pass level costs 80,000 XP.

What does X Marks the Zero Point Sliver mean? It's the name of the loading screen you get for all six fragments. Epic says each fragment is "one piece of something bigger" and hasn't explained more. The Zero Point link suggests the hunt ties into the Chapter 7 end event on 5 December, but that's our reading, not an Epic statement.
