Genshin Imaginarium Theater November 2026: Elements, Opening Characters and Guest Stars

Imaginarium Theater resets on the first day of every month, and the reset swaps the three elements you are allowed to field. That single rule is why the mode feels trivial one month and impossible the next. The wall is rarely enemy damage. It is whether you own enough levelled characters of the right colour to fill the roster at all.

November is the month where that wall gets real. Season 29 opens on 1 November 2026, still inside Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld", and keeps running after Version 7.2 "Hour of Ruin" arrives on 4 November. One of its three elements is Geo, the second-smallest playable pool in the game after Dendro. This guide is current as of 29 October 2026, three days before the reset.

Quick answer: Imaginarium Theater Season 29 runs 1 November to 1 December 2026. Required Elemental Types are Hydro, Electro, and Geo. The six Opening Characters are Yelan, Aino, Flins, Fischl, Zhongli, and Kachina. Own any of them and they get a 20% HP, ATK and DEF Fantastical Blessing for the whole season, inside and outside the theater. The four Special Guest Stars are Qiqi, Odette, Vesna, and Jahoda, and you must own or borrow them. New Thespian Tricks arrive for Ineffa, Aino, Arataki Itto, and Thoma. The hard gate is roster size: Lunar Mode needs 28 characters at Lv. 70, six of which can be the trial Opening Characters and one a borrowed friend's character. Hydro, Electro and Geo together give you about 51 to choose from, against 58 in October.

When does the November 2026 Imaginarium Theater start and end?

HoYoverse published the date in the Version 7.1 update notice, section VIII: "After the Version 7.1 update, the second season of 'Imaginarium Theater' will be available on November 1." The community wiki logs it as Season 29, running from 1 November 2026 04:00 to 1 December 2026 03:59:59, server time.

Server time is the catch, and this year it collides with a clock change. Each region resets at 04:00 on its own server clock (UTC+8 for Asia, UTC+1 for Europe, UTC-5 for America), so the same reset lands at very different moments:

ServerReset in server timeReset in UTCWhat your clock shows
Asia / TW-HK-MO1 Nov, 04:00 (UTC+8)31 Oct, 20:0031 Oct, 20:00 UTC
Europe1 Nov, 04:00 (UTC+1)1 Nov, 03:0003:00 London (GMT), 04:00 Berlin (CET)
America1 Nov, 04:00 (UTC-5)1 Nov, 09:0004:00 New York (EST), 01:00 Los Angeles (PST)

US clocks fall back at 2:00 AM local time on Sunday 1 November, the same morning as the reset. Anyone who saved an October conversion is an hour off. October's America reset showed as 05:00 in New York (EDT); November's shows as 04:00 (EST). It is the same server time and the same 09:00 UTC, but an hour earlier on the wall clock. In Los Angeles the reset lands at the exact moment clocks fall back from 2:00 to 1:00 AM.

Season 28 (October, on Hydro, Cryo and Anemo) closes at that same instant. Unclaimed progress does not carry over, so finish what you can before Saturday night.

What are the November elements and Opening Characters?

Required Elemental Types for Season 29 are Hydro, Electro, and Geo. The six Opening Characters, verbatim from the update notice, are Yelan, Aino, Flins, Fischl, Zhongli, and Kachina. HoYoverse again picked one five-star and one four-star per element:

Opening CharacterElementRarityWeapon
YelanHydro5-starBow
AinoHydro4-starClaymore
FlinsElectro5-starPolearm
FischlElectro4-starBow
ZhongliGeo5-starPolearm
KachinaGeo4-starPolearm

The notice adds: "When Imaginarium Theater is open, the corresponding Opening Characters will obtain Fantastical Blessings." The blessing is a 20% increase to Max HP, ATK and DEF for any Opening Character you own, and the wiki says it applies inside and outside the theater for the whole season. That is a month-long overworld buff on six characters, and it costs nothing.

If you don't own an Opening Character, you are not locked out. The theater gives you Trial versions for the Principal Cast. What you lose is the 20% blessing, which only applies to characters you own. The reverse rule matters too: Opening Characters cannot be set as Supporting Cast, so you cannot borrow a friend's Zhongli to fill that slot.

Fischl, Aino and Kachina are the important names here. All three are four-stars most accounts already have, and all three are free bodies for the roster count. If any of them is still below Lv. 70, fix that first.

Who are the November Special Guest Stars?

Season 29's four Special Guest Stars are Qiqi (Cryo, 5-star), Odette (Cryo, 5-star), Vesna (Anemo, 5-star), and Jahoda (Anemo, 4-star).

Guest Stars are the exception to the element rule. The wiki defines them as "a special pool of selectable characters that do not need to meet the Elemental requirements for that season." There is a condition, though: you must own them or borrow them as Supporting Cast. There is no trial version. If you own none of the four, the exception does not exist for you this month.

There is also a second reason to care. Each Blessing Level grants +800 Max HP, +50 ATK, +50 DEF and +20 Elemental Mastery, and the wiki states that "the buff effects received by Special Guest Stars are increased by 100%." A Guest Star picked late in a run, with a stacked Blessing Level behind them, is often the strongest unit you will field.

The four are a coherent set this time. Qiqi is one of the picks in the free Standard 5-star selector, which stays open until 3 November, and her Witch's Revelation upgrade is covered in our Qiqi build guide. Odette brings Cryo damage into a month with no Cryo slot. Vesna is the Anemo Stellar Swirl enabler from the Version 7.1 banners, and our Vesna build guide covers her kit. All three can join a Hydro, Electro and Geo roster that would otherwise have no Cryo or Anemo at all.

The wiki's caution still applies. Guest Stars don't benefit from the season's Brilliant Blessings, which are built around the three required elements. Off-element damage falls behind in the later Acts, so most players spend Guest Stars early.

Why is November a harder roster month than October?

Because of Geo.

We counted the community wiki's playable-character listings on 29 October 2026 and counted the Traveler once, not once per element. The totals are Hydro 18, Electro 20, Geo 15, for roughly 51 eligible characters. October's Hydro, Cryo and Anemo pool was about 58. Only Dendro (about 13) is smaller than Geo, and several of Geo's 15 are limited five-stars.

SeasonElementsElement pool (approx.)Pool minus the 6 Opening CharactersOwned Lv. 70 characters Lunar still needs
28 (October 2026)Hydro, Cryo, Anemo~58~5221
29 (November 2026)Hydro, Electro, Geo~51~4521

How the last column works: Lunar's 28 is the total cast, not 28 owned characters. The six Opening Characters are provided as trials, and Lunar lets you bring one borrowed Supporting Cast character, so 28 minus 7 leaves 21 owned characters at Lv. 70. Visionary's 22 works out to about 15 owned on the same maths.

Those 21 now have to come from a pool of about 45 non-Opening Hydro, Electro and Geo characters instead of about 52. That is why an account that cleared Lunar comfortably in October can stall at Visionary in November without any change in its damage.

Two things help. First, the four Guest Stars sit outside the element pool. If you own Qiqi, Odette, Vesna or Jahoda, each one is an extra Alternate Cast option that doesn't have to be Hydro, Electro or Geo. Second, Version 7.2 adds two Electro characters on 4 November: Mitya (5-star Electro Catalyst) and Valeriy (4-star Electro Sword), per HoYoverse's 7.2 press release. Pull or obtain either one during the season, level them, and they count for the rest of November.

Ascension, not pulling, is still the cheapest fix. Getting a character to Lv. 70 needs no constellations. A four-star support you never use in combat still fills a full roster slot, and every character above the minimum adds Blessing Levels.

How many characters does each difficulty need?

This is the number that decides your month. Every difficulty sets a minimum roster, a maximum roster and a level floor:

DifficultyActsMinimum rosterMaximum rosterLevel required
Easy Mode3810Lv. 60
Normal Mode61214Lv. 60
Hard Mode81620Lv. 70
Visionary Mode102226Lv. 70
Lunar Mode10 + 2 Arcana Challenges2832Lv. 70

Visionary unlocks only after you clear Hard Mode, and Lunar only after Visionary.

Treat the maximum column as a target. Every character added to the Alternate Cast above the required number raises Blessing Level by 2. Taking 32 characters into Lunar instead of 28 is +8 Blessing Levels: +6,400 HP, +400 ATK, +400 DEF and +160 Elemental Mastery for the party, and double that for Guest Stars. A spare Lv. 70 Geo four-star does more good in the Alternate Cast than sitting at home.

The other resource is Vigor. Each character has two Vigor, one spent per stage, and each stage needs four members. That gets tight fast in a Geo month: with a thin Geo bench, plan which Acts get your best Geo units instead of spending them in the opening stages.

How many Primogems is the November season worth?

Clearing is what pays. A player in r/GenshinImpactTips made the point this week: "IT doesn't lock primogems behind the star, you just need to clear." That's right. Stella pay materials, not Primogems.

Run the maths on a full season:

TrackActs 1 to 10Two Arcana Challenges (Lunar only)Total
Performance Tour (every season)800 Primogems200 Primogems1,000 Primogems
Debut Performance (first clear only)1,500 Primogems300 Primogems1,800 Primogems

The widely quoted "1,000 Primogems per season" figure is Lunar Mode only. Stop at Visionary and the season pays 800. In a Geo month, plenty of accounts will stop there. That is the 200 Primogems at stake if you level two or three more characters before Sunday.

A full Lunar season also pays 600,000 Mora, 3 Toy Medals, 26 Sanctifying Essence, 28 Sanctifying Unction, 1 Transient Resin and 2 Sanctifying Elixir. The Crown of Insight sits on the Act 10 Debut reward and can be claimed only once per account.

Stella pay out at 3 (8 Sanctifying Unction), 6 (1 Transient Resin), 9 (1 Sanctifying Elixir) and 12 (1 Sanctifying Elixir). Stella come from each stage's Star Challenge, so the 9-Stella Elixir realistically needs Visionary or higher. As the same thread pointed out, that is the real reason to push past Hard even when the Primogems feel safe.

What else changes in Season 29?

Four characters get new Thespian Tricks, photo poses bought from the concierge NPC Wolfy with Toy Medals. The notice names Ineffa, Aino, Arataki Itto, and Thoma. Toy Medals come three per season, so unless you saved some from earlier seasons, you cannot buy all four poses in one month.

Season 29's Primary Antagonists have not been published yet. On 29 October the community wiki's Season 29 page still lists every Act's enemies as blank. Neither HoYoverse nor the wiki names the November bosses, so any boss line-up posted today is a guess. We will update this page once the season is live.

A common question in the help threads is whether a character "isn't allowed this month". The only test is element. Tartaglia (Childe), Furina and Neuvillette are all Hydro, so they are all eligible in November, even though only Yelan and Aino get the Opening Character blessing. Element decides seasonal eligibility, and the level floor still applies. Being an Opening Character is a bonus, not a requirement.

What should you do before 1 November?

  • Finish Season 28. October's Hydro, Cryo and Anemo season closes at the reset, and unclaimed rewards go with it. Our September Theater guide shows what the last Hydro-Electro season looked like.
  • Count your eligible bodies. Filter your roster to Hydro, Electro and Geo, leave out the six Opening Characters, and count everyone at Lv. 70 or above. Around 21 means Lunar is realistic, around 15 means Visionary.
  • Level the gap. If you own 18 to 20 eligible characters at Lv. 70, two or three ascensions decide whether you get 800 or 1,000 Primogems this month.
  • Plan for 4 November. Version 7.2 brings Mitya and Valeriy, both Electro. Our Version 7.2 characters guide covers what HoYoverse has confirmed, and the 7.2 release date page has the maintenance timing.
  • Set your Supporting Cast. You can offer up to 7 characters to friends, each usable 15 times per season. Lending them does not stop you using them yourself. A Geo month is when borrowing a strong Geo or Electro unit helps most.

FAQ

When does Imaginarium Theater Season 29 start in Genshin Impact? On 1 November 2026 at 04:00 server time, and it runs until 1 December 2026. HoYoverse confirmed it in the Version 7.1 update notice: "After the Version 7.1 update, the second season of 'Imaginarium Theater' will be available on November 1." In UTC, Asia resets at 20:00 on 31 October, Europe at 03:00 and America at 09:00 on 1 November.

What are the required elements for Imaginarium Theater in November 2026? Hydro, Electro, and Geo. Every Alternate Cast character must be one of those three. The only exceptions are the four Special Guest Stars (Qiqi, Odette, Vesna and Jahoda), who ignore the element requirement but must be owned or borrowed.

Can I use Childe, Furina or Neuvillette in the November theater? Yes. All three are Hydro, and Hydro is a required element in Season 29. Only Yelan and Aino receive the Hydro Opening Character blessing, but any Hydro, Electro or Geo character you own is eligible.

Do I need to own the Opening Characters? No. Trial versions of Yelan, Aino, Flins, Fischl, Zhongli and Kachina are provided for the Principal Cast. Owning them unlocks the Fantastical Blessing, a 20% boost to Max HP, ATK and DEF that lasts the season and also applies in the open world. Opening Characters cannot be taken as Supporting Cast.

Will Mitya and Valeriy count for the November theater? Both are Electro, according to HoYoverse's Version 7.2 press release, and Electro is required this season. Once 7.2 goes live on 4 November and you obtain one of them, they count toward the roster like any other Electro character. For Hard Mode and above, that means levelling them to Lv. 70.

How many Primogems does Imaginarium Theater give per month? 1,000 Primogems per season on the repeatable track, but only for a Lunar Mode clear. Acts 1 to 10 pay 800 and the two Lunar-only Arcana Challenges add 100 each. First-time clears also pay 1,800 Primogems on the Debut track, including a Crown of Insight at Act 10. Stella pay materials, not Primogems.

Is November harder than October? On roster size, yes. Hydro, Electro and Geo give about 51 eligible characters, against about 58 in October, and Geo has roughly 15, second-smallest after Dendro. Enemy line-ups for November are not published yet, so the combat side is still unknown.
