HoYoverse listed it in its official Grab Your Opening Gifts notice, next to a free Affinitive Eidolon for the same three characters, a free Golden Companion Spirit and 20 Star Rail Special Passes. She is the strongest of the three on our HSR tier list (A tier, the other two are B), and the free Golden Companion Spirit can buy Jiaoqiu, a Nihility support who joins the Stellar Convergence Store in 4.7, so two free 5-stars make most of her team. Put the free Affinitive Eidolon on the same character you pick, because HoYoverse says the new ability needs you to own that character. What free 5-star rewards does HSR 4.7 give?
Version 4.7, "Now, Lay Laughter to All Stars", launches on November 11, 2026, per HoYoverse's October 30 announcement. The Opening Gifts notice lists six login rewards. All of them share one window: after the Version 4.7 update on 2026/11/11 until 2026/12/23 05:59 (UTC+8), and all need Trailblaze Level 4.

In HoYoverse's words, Magic Invitation lets you "choose one of the following three characters to obtain: Acheron (Nihility: Lightning), Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae (Destruction: Imaginary), or Jing Yuan (Erudition: Lightning)", with "upgrade materials to instantly level the corresponding character up to Lv. 60". Aeon ★ Aha, the new limited 5-star, is not one of the free choices. Aha has their own Warp, available throughout Version 4.7.
The three free characters are also the Phase 2 reruns of 4.7. Trackers list Phase 2 from December 2, 12:00 to December 22, 15:00 (server time); HoYoverse has not posted that Event Warp notice yet, so treat those two dates as provisional. Which free 5-star should you pick in HSR 4.7?
Acheron for most accounts. She is the only one of the three in A tier on our current list, and Version 4.7 hands you a free way to build her best team. Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae and Jing Yuan are both B tier: still usable carries, but they lean harder on supports you have to pull for.

Two numbers explain the gap. Acheron's Trace The Abyss raises her Basic ATK, Skill and Ultimate damage to 115% with one other Nihility character in the team and 160% with two, per her in-game kit text. That one Trace is why her team is easy to plan: put two Nihility characters next to her and she gets a 60% bonus before any other buff.
We will not rank the free picks on their Affinitive Eidolon abilities yet. HoYoverse says the full details arrive in-game with the update, and we only place a character once the official kit text is live, not from beta numbers.
Why does Acheron plus Jiaoqiu make the best free team?
The Golden Companion Spirit is the reward most players will undervalue. HoYoverse's Version 4.7 Store Update adds Jiaoqiu (Nihility: Fire) to the Stellar Convergence Store, "exchangeable by using Golden Companion Spirit", and the 4.7 Opening Gifts give you exactly one Golden Companion Spirit for logging in. HoYoverse's own Version 4.2 announcement describes the spirit as something that "can be freely exchanged for a character from the Store", so one spirit buys one character.
That turns into a two-character core at no Jade cost:
- Acheron from Magic Invitation, levelled to 60 by the bundled materials
- Jiaoqiu from the Stellar Convergence Store with the Golden Companion Spirit, a Nihility teammate who counts toward The Abyss
- A second Nihility to reach the 160% tier: the 4-star Pela, or the original Silver Wolf if you own her
- A sustain of your choice, such as Gallagher, Huohuo or Aventurine
Jiaoqiu is A tier on his own, the same band as Acheron. The store also lists older limited characters for the same spirit, and one of them is the better pick for some accounts:

Our rule: if you pick Acheron, spend the spirit on Jiaoqiu. If you pick Jing Yuan or Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae and have no top-tier healer, Huohuo is the stronger single addition. Robin and Huohuo have stayed in the store since they were added in Version 4.2, so there is no rush to spend the spirit on day one, though HoYoverse has not said listings never leave.
How do the free Affinitive Eidolon and Myriad Symphony work?
Affinitive Eidolon is a new growth system in Version 4.7, and these three characters get it first. HoYoverse says that "once Trailblazers own the designated characters and unlock their corresponding Affinitive Eidolons, they can unlock new additional abilities", and the Special Program slide adds "an exclusive character-themed illustration".
There are three official ways to get one in 4.7:
- Affinitive Starveil (free): one Affinitive Eidolon for a character of your choice from the three.
- Myriad Symphony, 1,600 Resonance: a second Affinitive Eidolon.
- Myriad Symphony, 3,200 Resonance: a third.
Because the ability needs you to own the character, put the free Starveil on the same character you take from Magic Invitation unless you already own another of the three and play them more.
Myriad Symphony runs from the update until December 23, 2026, 03:59 (UTC+8), two hours earlier than the gift window. Per the store notice, each Star Rail Special Pass spent in any Event Warp gives 16 Resonance, and each Fashion Invite spent in Phantasia Showstage gives 10. The math:

A Fashion Invite costs 100 Stellar Jade and gives 10 Resonance, the same 0.1 Resonance per Jade as a Special Pass, so neither route is cheaper. For a free-to-play player, 100 pulls in one version is a lot. Treat the Myriad Symphony Eidolons as a bonus for whales and big savers, and the free Starveil as the one that matters.
Should you still pull Acheron, Jing Yuan or Imbibitor Lunae in Phase 2?
Usually no. The free copy covers the character; Phase 2 sells duplicates and signature Light Cones. The official Phase 2 slide pairs each character with their 5-star Light Cone:

Your Jade usually goes further on Aha or the Phase 1 reruns (Silver Wolf LV.999, Sparxie and Yao Guang, all on the official 4.7 line-up) if those characters fit your teams. One Warp costs 160 Stellar Jade, so the 20 free Special Passes from "Aha Reckons You Need This" are worth 3,200 Jade toward whichever banner you choose.
What should you do with Asat Pramad's Gift?
Asat Pramad's Gift lets you "customize a max-level 5-star Relic and all its affixes", per the Opening Gifts notice. It is the rarest item in the 4.7 package, so do not spend it on day one. Two good uses:
- The piece your main carry is missing most, usually a Body or Feet piece where the right main stat plus Crit substats is hardest to farm.
- The free character you just claimed, if you pick Acheron and want her ready for the Memory of Chaos rotation that runs until December 14.
Hold it until you have checked your carry's Relic set on the relic screen. A custom piece in the wrong set is wasted.
When can you claim the free 5-star, by region?
The gifts unlock after the Version 4.7 update on November 11; HoYoverse has not posted the maintenance notice with the exact hour yet. The end is fixed:
