If you jumped into Once Human on PS5 or Xbox at the console launch and hit a wall — the game won't take your controller, your backpack says it's full when it isn't, you can't add a friend because the game insists they're "Blocked," or the Deluxe bundle you paid for never showed up — you are not doing anything wrong. A brand-new console port dropped a game built and patched for PC since 2024 onto two new platforms, and a specific, named list of bugs came with it. Most of them already have an official fix or an official status. This guide collects every console error worth knowing, tells you which are already fixed, which are still being worked on, and exactly what to do about each one right now.
| Everything below is current as of update 3.0.5 (September 3, 2026) and is checked against Starry Studio's own console-launch notices on `oncehuman.game`. Console launch was August 25, 2026 at 11:00 PT (August 26 in EU/Asia) across **PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X | S** — there is no PS4, Xbox One or Switch version, so if a "fix" you found online tells you to change a last-gen setting, it's not for this game. Where the studio has confirmed a fix or a status, that's flagged. Nothing here is invented: if an error string is in quotes, a real console player reported it and the studio acknowledged it. |

Quick answer: what's fixed, what isn't, and what to try first
Most console launch bugs fall into three buckets. (1) Already fixed in the August 26 console patch: Xbox purchases/top-ups not crediting, Xbox PC-app sign-in failures, the friends/hive list vanishing after a cross-platform login, the "Blocked" wall when adding friends, and pre-order bundle delivery delays. (2) Fixed by a simple relog: a disappearing World Stone and, in most cases, a pre-order bundle that hasn't landed — fully close and reopen the game, then check your first character's mailbox. (3) Still officially under investigation: the false "backpack full" bug, being launched into the air when you jump into a dialogue, mouse-and-keyboard not registering, vehicles you can't ride, missing in-game audio, a garbled PS5 PSN friends list, controller deadzone settings not applying, and skins turning black. Before anything game-specific, do the two fixes that clear the most console problems at once:
- Fully close and relaunch the game (not rest mode / not Quick Resume — a full quit). This alone resolves the disappearing World Stone, most un-delivered pre-order bundles, and a large share of one-off UI glitches.
- Sign out and back in, and make sure you're on your original linked account. Many "my stuff is gone" reports are actually the player logged into a second account or a mismatched sign-in, not lost data. If you linked accounts, remember: linking is not merging — check you're on the identity that owns your character.
If your problem is connecting or "Server Is Full" rather than an in-game bug, that's a different fix — see our Once Human "Server Is Full" & queue fix for PS5 & Xbox.
Why are there so many Once Human bugs on PS5 and Xbox right now?
Because the console version is days old and the game isn't. Once Human ran on PC and mobile for roughly two years before the console port, so the console build had to bring controller support, console UI, platform sign-in (PSN / Xbox Live), console store purchasing and platform friends systems online all at once. That's exactly where the launch bugs cluster — input, display, audio, sign-in and store — and the studio said as much directly:
"Since the console version launched, we have received many reports from console players regarding controls, display, audio, and other issues. The team is actively working on fixes." — Starry Studio, official console-version issue notice
That's the honest framing to keep in mind: these are port-and-platform bugs, not signs that your save is corrupted or your console is faulty. The fixes are coming through server-side updates and client patches, and several already shipped in the August 26 console patch.
Once Human "backpack is full" but it isn't — the false-full bug
This is the most-reported console gameplay bug. You try to loot, craft, or claim something and the game blocks you with a "backpack full" message even though you clearly have free slots. It shows up most often at the Haunted House event chest, where the game refuses the reward claiming your backpack is full.
Status: officially under investigation — it's on the studio's confirmed console-issue list, so a fix is coming, but there's no client patch for it yet. In the meantime:
- Drop or stash a stack of low-value items (raw materials, ammo you're not using) to force free space, then retry the claim. The check appears to misread near-full inventories, so opening real headroom often lets it through.
- Deposit into your storage crate at base before running the Haunted House or any big-reward event, so you go in with maximum free slots.
- If a chest still refuses, relog and try once more before assuming the reward is lost — the claim usually persists.
Why does my character fly into the air in Once Human on console?
A genuinely strange one, and it's confirmed: if you jump at the exact moment you enter a dialogue, your character can get launched up into the air. It looks alarming but it's a physics/animation desync, not a crash.
Status: officially under investigation. The practical fix is simple — don't jump while triggering an NPC or object dialogue. If it happens, wait for your character to come back down; you won't take fall damage from the glitch itself in most reports. It's cosmetic-annoying rather than progression-breaking, so there's no need to relog over it.
Once Human "can't add friends" / "Blocked" and missing friends list on console
Two closely related friend-system problems hit at launch, and they behaved differently by platform.
The "Blocked" wall (Xbox): trying to add a friend returned a message saying the player was Blocked, even when nobody had blocked anyone. Status: fixed in the August 26 console patch. If you still see it, fully relaunch so the client picks up the update.
The friends / hive list disappearing after a cross-platform sign-in: players who signed in across platforms found their friends list or hive members list emptied out. Status: fixed in the August 26 console patch. Again, a full relaunch is what applies the fix — a dropped list should repopulate once you're back in on the patched client.
Can't add friends at all / can't see friends: a broader "the friends system just isn't working" report is still on the under-investigation list separate from the Xbox "Blocked" fix. If adding or seeing friends still fails after you've patched and relogged, that's the known open issue — you're not missing a setting.
For the full, working method of teaming up once the friend system cooperates — cross-platform invites, joining a team, and the server-mismatch trap that stops friends from playing together — use our Once Human how to play with friends on PS5, Xbox & PC guide. The account-linking side of this (and the mistake that can cost you a character) is covered in Once Human crossplay and cross-progression explained.
Once Human controller, mouse and keyboard not working on console
Input bugs split into a few distinct reports, so match yours:
- Mouse and keyboard not registering: if you've plugged a keyboard/mouse into your console and Once Human won't respond to it, that's a confirmed, under-investigation bug. For now, use the controller — controller input works — and check back after the next client patch.
- Controller deadzone setting not applying: you change the stick deadzone in settings and nothing changes in-game. Also confirmed and under investigation. There's no reliable workaround beyond leaving deadzone at default until it's patched; changing other sensitivity values does still take effect.
- General controller layout and sensitivity: if your controller works but feels wrong, that's not a bug — it's tuning. Once Human's 3.0.4 update massively expanded console controller customization, and most "the aim feels off" complaints are solved in settings. We walk through the best layout, sensitivity and aim setup in Once Human best controller settings on PS5 & Xbox.
Once Human has no sound on console — fix
Some console players get no in-game audio at all. Status: confirmed, under investigation. Before you wait on the patch, rule out the easy causes, because a few "no sound" reports are console-side:
- Check the game isn't muted in Once Human's own audio settings (master/effects/music sliders).
- Confirm your console audio output is set to the right device (HDMI vs headset vs controller jack) — switching output away from and back to your device often restores sound.
- Fully relaunch the game; audio engine hiccups on a fresh port frequently clear on a clean boot.
If audio is still dead after all three, you're on the known bug and it's on the fix list.
Once Human vehicles and bicycles can't be ridden on console
A movement bug where vehicles — including bicycles — can't be ridden has been reported and confirmed under investigation. There's no settings fix; the reliable stopgap is to travel on foot or fast-travel between teleporters until it's patched. Don't waste materials rebuilding a vehicle thinking yours is broken — it's the game, not your ride.
Once Human PS5 friends list shows garbled / broken text
On PS5 specifically, the PSN friends list can render as garbled or broken text. Status: confirmed, under investigation. It's a display bug, not a data bug — your friends and their status are intact underneath. Until it's patched, add and manage friends through the in-game friends menu rather than relying on the PSN overlay reading correctly.
Once Human character skins turning black on console
Cosmetics can turn solid black on console — a texture/render bug rather than a lost item. Status: confirmed, under investigation. Your skin isn't gone; it's failing to load its texture. A full relaunch restores it in most cases, and it does not affect stats or gameplay, only appearance.
Once Human stuck after "The Digby Boy" quest on console
Some players get stuck progressing after The Digby Boy story step. Status: confirmed, under investigation. If the quest won't advance, relog first — a large share of "quest stuck" cases are state-desyncs a clean reload fixes. If it's still stuck after a full relaunch, it's the acknowledged bug and a fix is pending; hold rather than deleting your character or restarting the questline.
Once Human World Stone / Worldstone disappeared — how to get it back
Early console players in the beginner tutorial found their World Stone (Worldstones) had disappeared. This one has a clean answer.
Status: resolved — fixed by relogging. The studio confirmed that logging out and back in restores the World Stone. Do a full close-and-reopen of the game and it should be back where it belongs. If you were mid-tutorial when it vanished, don't restart the tutorial — relog first.
Once Human pre-order / Deluxe bundle not showing on console
If you bought a pre-order or Deluxe edition bundle and it didn't appear, you're in one of the most-reported — and now largely resolved — launch issues. The studio acknowledged that console players were unable to claim bundles, received them on the wrong character, or didn't know how to use them.
Status: delivery delay fixed in the August 26 patch; the rest is a relog-and-check. Here's the checklist:
- Fully relaunch the game. The delivery delay itself was patched, so a clean boot pulls the entitlement.
- Check the mailbox on your FIRST character. Bundles are granted to the first character created on the account — if you have more than one character, the items are likely sitting in the original character's in-game mail, not the one you're playing.
- Know the item's real name. Some bundle contents are named differently from the store listing — for example, the "Sparkle Pack" is delivered as the "Radiance Pack." If you're hunting for an item by its store name and can't find it, check for its in-game name before assuming it's missing.
- Still nothing after a relog and a first-character mailbox check? That's when to open a support ticket — but for most players the relog is the whole fix.
Once Human Xbox top-ups / purchases not credited — fix
Xbox players who topped up (bought Crystgin / packs) and didn't get the currency, and Xbox players who couldn't sign in via the PC app, were both hit at launch.
Status: both fixed. The studio confirmed Xbox top-ups are automatically reissued within one day — you don't need to do anything except wait up to 24 hours for the missing purchase to land, then relaunch. The Xbox PC-app sign-in failure was fixed in the August 26 patch. If a top-up still hasn't arrived after a full day and a relaunch, that's the point to raise a ticket with your purchase receipt.
How big is the Once Human console download on PS5 and Xbox?
Not a bug, but the question every new console player asks when the install "hangs": the download is large. Budget roughly ~80 GB on PlayStation and ~100 GB on Xbox, plus a day-one update on top. If your install looks stuck, it's usually just the size plus a patch downloading in the background — leave it, and make sure you have the free space before you start. The two fixes that clear the most Once Human console problems
If you take nothing else from this page, take these two, because between them they resolve or improve the majority of the launch bug list:
1. Full relaunch. Not rest mode, not Quick Resume — a complete quit and reopen. This alone fixes the disappeared World Stone, most missing pre-order bundles, black skins, and applies the August 26 patch's friend-system and Xbox fixes.
2. Verify your account, and remember linking isn't merging. A lot of "everything's gone" panic is a sign-in on the wrong identity after a cross-platform login. Confirm you're on your original account, and never link a second account that already has a character expecting the two to combine — one set gets lost.
Everything past those two is either already patched or on the studio's confirmed fix list. The console lane is new; the game underneath it is mature and actively supported, and the "Isles of Abyss" ocean expansion lands across all platforms in October 2026 — so console patches are shipping fast right now.
Frequently asked questions
Is Once Human broken on PS5 and Xbox? No. The console version has a defined set of launch bugs — mostly around input, display, audio, sign-in and the store — and the studio has already fixed several (Xbox purchases, Xbox PC sign-in, the friends/hive list vanishing, the "Blocked" add-friend wall, pre-order delivery) with the rest confirmed and under investigation. It's a normal new-platform launch, not a broken game.
How do I fix the "backpack full" bug in Once Human? It's an officially confirmed bug still being fixed. Free up real inventory space (drop or stash low-value stacks), deposit into your storage crate before big-reward events like the Haunted House chest, and relog before assuming a reward is lost. There's no client-side setting that fixes it yet.
My Once Human pre-order bundle didn't show up — where is it? Fully relaunch the game, then check the mailbox on the first character you created — bundles are granted there, not necessarily to the character you're playing. Also check for renamed items (the "Sparkle Pack" arrives as the "Radiance Pack"). The delivery delay was fixed in the August 26 console patch.
My World Stone disappeared in the tutorial — is my save broken? No. Log out and back in with a full close-and-reopen; the studio confirmed relogging restores the World Stone. Don't restart the tutorial.
I bought a top-up on Xbox and didn't get it — what do I do? Wait up to 24 hours: the studio confirmed Xbox top-ups are automatically reissued within one day. Then relaunch. If it's still missing after a full day, open a support ticket with your receipt.
Why can't I add friends in Once Human on console? The Xbox "Blocked" error and the friends/hive list disappearing after a cross-platform sign-in were both fixed in the August 26 patch — relaunch to apply it. A broader "friends system not working" report is still under investigation, so if it fails after patching and relogging, you're on the known open bug.
| Does Once Human run on PS4, Xbox One or Switch? No. The console version is **PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X | S only**. Any fix guide referencing last-gen hardware isn't for this game. |
|---|
Is there no sound in Once Human on console a known bug? Yes, missing in-game audio is confirmed and under investigation. First rule out muted in-game audio sliders and the wrong console audio output device, and do a full relaunch — a portion of "no sound" cases are settings-side and clear immediately.
