Valheim Final Boss: How to Beat Kall Fimbulbringer (Deep North, 1.0)

Kall Fimbulbringer is Valheim's final boss — the eighth and last Forsaken, added when the game left Early Access with the 1.0 launch on September 9, 2026 and its final biome, the Deep North. Beating him and returning his Sacrificial Blood to the Sacrificial Stones is how you finish the game after ~4.5 years of Early Access. This guide covers exactly how to summon him, his three-phase attack set, the gear and food that actually work, and the loot you walk away with — verified against Iron Gate's 1.0 notes and launch-week walkthroughs. Applies to patch 1.0.14 (September 17, 2026).

Quick answer: how to beat Kall Fimbulbringer

To beat Kall Fimbulbringer, summon him at the Strange Bowl in the Deep North's Aesir Passage by offering 3× Malicious Blood, then fight him through three phases using blunt or slash weapons (he resists Pierce, Fire, Frost and Lightning, and is immune to Spirit), heavy Protector armor, and health-heavy Deep North food. The hard part is the summon — you must craft 3 Intricate Keys from Bloodgold, clear three Mörkhalla dungeons, and survive three Jotun invasions before you can even reach him. His second phase, where he resurrects all seven previous bosses, is the real wall.

Key facts:

  • Boss: Kall Fimbulbringer — the 8th Forsaken and Valheim's final boss (1.0).
  • Location: The Prison, entered via the Strange Bowl at the Aesir Passage in the Deep North biome (position is randomized per world seed).
  • Damage to use: Blunt or Slash. He resists Pierce, Fire, Frost and Lightning and is immune to Spirit.
  • Reward: Sacrificial Blood (ends the game) + Crown Jewel → the Crown of Valheim → the Royalty armor set. No Forsaken Power — he is the only boss that doesn't grant one.

Who is Kall Fimbulbringer?

Kall Fimbulbringer is the culmination of Valheim's boss ladder. From Eikthyr in the Meadows to Fader in the Ashlands, every Forsaken has dropped a trophy that unlocks the next crafting tier. Kall is different: he sits at the top of the Deep North, the frozen eighth biome that shipped with 1.0, and he is the only Forsaken you fight inside a dungeon rather than at an open altar. He's also the only one who summons the others — during the fight he calls back every boss you've already killed.

Iron Gate has never published his exact HP. Numbers circulating from datamining and server tools disagree (figures around 40,000–47,000 have appeared), so treat any single HP value as unconfirmed. What matters more for winning is his resistance profile and phase behavior, which are consistent across every launch-week walkthrough.

How to summon Kall Fimbulbringer

This is a multi-step gauntlet, not a single offering. Here is the full chain, in order.

Blast Furnace smelting Petrified Tissue into Bloodgold in Valheim

Step 1 — Get Bloodgold

Bloodgold is the Deep North's top metal and the currency for the whole summon. To make it:

  • Find a Gammeltroll (a large stone-like troll) in the Deep North.
  • Use Ember Charges to petrify it, then break the petrified husk with more Ember Charges to harvest Petrified Tissue.
  • Take the Petrified Tissue home and smelt it in a Blast Furnace with Coal to produce Bloodgold.

Step 2 — Find the Intricate Key moulds

Search the Winding Tunnels — small dungeons at the back of Abandoned Homesteads in the Deep North. Inside, break the rubble piles to find the mould for the Intricate Key. You need three keys, so run three Winding Tunnels (or find multiple moulds) to gather what you need.

Step 3 — Cast three Intricate Keys

Bring a mould to your upgraded forge (the Black Forge) and combine it with 5 Bloodgold to cast one Intricate Key. Repeat until you have 3× Intricate Key. That's 15 Bloodgold minimum for the keys alone — start smelting early.

Step 4 — Clear three Mörkhalla dungeons

The Gates of Mörkhalla sit under large, ruined castle-like structures. Each large door needs one Intricate Key to open. Fight through the dungeon — expect Krigen and Hexen enemies at the end guarding a centerpiece of Malicious Ice.

Step 5 — Survive three Jotun invasions

The moment you smash the Malicious Ice, a Jotun invasion spawns and is marked on your map (the location is random — you may have to sail far to reach it). Repel it, then collect your Malicious Blood. Do this across all three Mörkhalla dungeons to end up with 3× Malicious Blood.

Step 6 — Open the Prison at the Aesir Passage

Return to the Aesir Passage and the runestone beside the Strange Bowl. Equip the 3× Malicious Blood, interact with the bowl, and the entrance to The Prison opens. Step inside to face Kall Fimbulbringer.

Tip: Each world seed places the Deep North structures differently, so there is no fixed coordinate for Kall. Read the Deep North runestones (Vegvisir) — they auto-mark relevant locations on your map, exactly like earlier boss altars.

Kall Fimbulbringer attacks and phases

Kall Fimbulbringer boss fight in Valheim with the named boss health bar

Kall fights in three escalating phases. Learn these before you commit — his chains reach farther than they look.

AttackWhat it doesPhase
Chain SlamBlockable overhead smash with one or two chainsAll
Chain SweepWide horizontal chain swingAll
Chain WhirlSpins both chains; physical + frost damage (adds fire in phase 3)All
Chain LungeRushes forward to close distance on a playerAll
Chain RushRepeated rapid chain strikesPhase 3 only
Summon ForsakenResurrects projectile-phantoms of all 7 prior bosses; Kall is invulnerable while any Forsaken standsPhase 2 only
Summon TendrilsRoots tendrils around the arena that attack on their own, then fadeAll

Phase 2 is the fight. Kall becomes untouchable and calls back all seven previous Forsaken as phantoms. You cannot damage him until they're cleared, so you're forced into a seven-on-one add-clear while dodging tendrils. This is where solo players die — a co-op group clears the phantoms far faster.

Phase 3 adds fire damage to his Chain Whirl and introduces the Chain Rush flurry. By now your priority is stamina management and staying on his flank.

Best gear, food and strategy

Weapons: blunt or slash only

Kall resists Pierce, Fire, Frost and Lightning and is immune to Spirit — so leave the frost/fire mage kit and the pierce weapons at home. The strongest options are the new Deep North Bloodgold-tier weapons that deal blunt or slash:

  • Thunderblood Sledge (blunt)
  • Frostfire Sledge (blunt)
  • Thunderblood Greatsword (slash)

Armor: tank, don't dodge

His chains hit farther than the animation suggests, so heavy armor and tanking beats trying to sidestep everything. The Protector set (the Deep North heavy set) is the strongest choice here. Note the 1.0.10 hotfix fixed Deep North heavy armor so it can now be repaired properly — make sure you're patched.

Food: max-health builds

Because you're eating hits, stack food that raises maximum health. Strong Deep North picks:

  • Seal Meat Soup
  • Meat in Bread
  • Smoked Moose Meat

Summons and utility

Summoned moose and bear (from maxed staves) are excellent for extra damage and pulling aggro — especially useful during the phase-2 phantom clear. The Staff of Protection helps shrug off one-shot windows. Bring plenty of stamina food and healing mead, and a portal anchored at the arena entrance in case you wipe.

What you get for beating Kall Fimbulbringer

Kall is the only Forsaken that does not grant a Forsaken Power. Instead he drops:

  • Sacrificial Blood — carry it back to the Sacrificial Stones at your world's starting spawn and offer it at the central platform. A Valkyrie appears and carries your Viking to Valhalla — the game's ending.
  • Crown Jewel — the material to craft the Crown of Valheim (a 50-armor headpiece), the final piece of the Royalty armor set. Wearing the full Royalty set grants +5% movement speed and −20% to attack, swim, sneak and run stamina costs.

That's the end of the current progression ladder. There's no ninth biome after the Deep North — it's the final one Iron Gate built for 1.0.

FAQ

Who is the final boss in Valheim? Kall Fimbulbringer, the eighth and final Forsaken, added with the 1.0 release on September 9, 2026. He lives at the top of the Deep North biome and is the last boss in the game's progression.

How do you summon Kall Fimbulbringer? Offer 3× Malicious Blood at the Strange Bowl in the Deep North's Aesir Passage. To get there you must first craft 3 Intricate Keys (mould + 5 Bloodgold each), clear three Mörkhalla dungeons, and survive three Jotun invasions to collect the Malicious Blood.

What damage does Kall Fimbulbringer resist? He resists Pierce, Fire, Frost and Lightning damage and is completely immune to Spirit damage. Use blunt or slash weapons — the Thunderblood Sledge, Frostfire Sledge, and Thunderblood Greatsword are top picks.
