Quick answer: The ZZZ Bangboo tier list for Version 3.3 is led by Ariel if you own Remielle and Sprout if you own Ye Shunguang. Ariel leads usage at 62.22% in Shiyu Defense and 47.59% in Deadly Assault. Biggest Fan, Ultra Jake, Belion, Snap and Plugboo form the next tier, and each suits specific teams. A-Rank Bangboo made up only about 3.5% of endgame teams, so endgame players overwhelmingly run an S-Rank, usually one tied to their main Agent. There are still 41 Bangboo, because Version 3.3 added none.
Article status: updated 2 November 2026 for Version 3.3. Usage comes from LvlUrArti's public endgame dataset, the data shown on Prydwen, and we credit that work here. Skill text comes from each Bangboo's Zenless Zone Zero wiki page. New-content claims come from HoYoverse's V3.3 update notice.
Correction: until today this page put Booressure, Avocaboo and Knightboo in S Tier because their conditions are easy to meet. Real team data does not support that. Booressure sits at 1.16%, Knightboo at 0.80% and Avocaboo at 0.05% in Shiyu Defense. Over the last seven dataset snapshots, Booressure never went above 2% in either mode.
How was this ZZZ Bangboo tier list ranked?
We ranked by usage in the two scored endgame modes, then checked each Bangboo's condition against the teams running it. The raw files hold 106,077 team records: 57,014 Shiyu Defense teams from 19,009 players, and 49,063 Deadly Assault teams from 15,266 players. Tier percentages use the dataset's processed usage file, which filters to a smaller sample. The per-Agent and score tables use the raw records.
| Mode | Dataset cycle | Cycle window | Snapshot collected |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shiyu Defense | 3.2.3 | 16 to 30 October 2026 | 25 October 2026 |
| Deadly Assault | 3.3.1 | 23 October to 6 November 2026 | 25 October 2026 |
Four limits apply:
- The snapshot is early. It was collected four days after Version 3.3 launched, so Phoenix numbers will move.
- The sample is self-submitted, so it leans toward engaged, well-built accounts.
- Usage shows what players choose, not what is mathematically best. Bangboo tied to a popular Agent get a built-in boost.
- Players field several teams, so each usage column adds up to well over 100%.
Tier thresholds are mechanical, and each Bangboo takes the highest tier it qualifies for, so you can check any placement yourself.
| Tier | Rule |
|---|---|
| S+ | 25% or more in both modes |
| S | 15% or more in either mode |
| A | 5% or more in either mode |
| B | 1% or more in either mode |
| C | Under 1% in both modes |
ZZZ Bangboo tier list for Version 3.3
S+ and S Tier: the Bangboo worth your Boopons
| Tier | Bangboo | Shiyu usage | Deadly Assault usage | Needs in squad |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S+ | Ariel | 62.22% | 47.59% | Remielle |
| S+ | Sprout | 51.25% | 26.77% | Ye Shunguang |
| S | Biggest Fan | 12.04% | 38.04% | 2 Angels of Delusion, 1 at three copies |
| S | Belion | 26.35% | 18.88% | 2 Yunkui Summit, 1 at three copies |
| S | Ultra Jake | 20.81% | 23.68% | 1 Roscaelifer |
| S | Snap | 19.98% | 17.73% | Main DMG buff needs nothing |
| S | Plugboo | 17.56% | 17.69% | 2 Electric |
Every Bangboo in this group is S-Rank. Together, the five most-used Bangboo account for about two-thirds of all teams in each mode.
Ariel tops the list because Remielle does. Its Additional Ability reads: "When Remielle is in the squad: When using an Active Skill, all buffs are guaranteed, and Bangboo Chain Attack DMG increases by X%." X is 15 at base. Without Remielle, the buffs stay random and the bonus is lost.
Sprout gains 30% DMG at base with Ye Shunguang in the squad, and using its Active Skill during Ether Veil: Verdict summons a Sword. About 80% of Ye Shunguang teams run it in both modes.
Snap is the broadest pick in the top tier. Its Superstar DMG buff is part of the Active Skill, rising from 2.8% to 10% with skill level, and it needs no faction. The Stars of Lyra condition only adds a small heal. If your teams shift between patches, this is the safest S-Rank target.
A Tier
| Bangboo | Shiyu usage | Deadly Assault usage | Needs in squad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birkblick | 13.51% | 8.96% | 2 Krampus Compliance Authority, 1 at three copies |
| Mercury | 7.33% | 6.65% | 2 Defense Force, 1 at three copies |
| Miss Esme | 7.27% | 6.10% | 2 Spook Shack, 1 at three copies |
B Tier
- S-Rank: Robin (4.65% / 4.75%), Resonaboo (4.19% / 4.43%), Bangvolver (3.91% / 3.35%), Butler (2.64% / 2.22%), Agent Gulliver (2.43% / 2.33%), Rocketboo (1.93% / 2.14%), Sharkboo (1.56% / 1.13%).
- A-Rank: Devilboo (1.77% / 2.43%), Excaliboo (1.70% / 0.70%), Booressure (1.16% / 1.09%), Booltergeist (0.84% / 1.27%), Luckyboo (0.94% / 1.05%).
Figures are Shiyu Defense first, Deadly Assault second. Devilboo is the most-used A-Rank in Deadly Assault, which makes it a sensible budget pick for Ether squads.
C Tier
Knightboo, Red Moccus, Penguinboo, Electroboo, Amillion, Overtimeboo, Officer Cui, Sumoboo, Baddieboo, Bild N. Boolok, Brawlerboo, Cryboo, Magnetiboo, Avocaboo, Exploreboo, Safety, Bagboo, Paperboo and Boollseye all sit under 1% in both modes.
A low tier does not mean useless. Booressure (B Tier) and Knightboo cost no Boopons at all, so a new account can run them while saving for an S-Rank. They just are not what endgame teams settle on.
What is the best Bangboo for each Agent in Zenless Zone Zero?
This table counts the raw team records for squads containing each Agent, so it answers the question most tier lists skip.
| Agent | Top pick in Shiyu | Top pick in Deadly Assault | Runner-up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | Ariel 70.1% | Ariel 63.4% | Ultra Jake 19.2% / 27.1% |
| Remielle | Ariel 76.1% | Ariel 66.6% | Ultra Jake 8.4% / 20.5% |
| Velina | Ariel 73.1% | Ariel 63.3% | Ultra Jake 10.4% / 23.1% |
| Ye Shunguang | Sprout 81.1% | Sprout 80.0% | Biggest Fan 5.5% / Snap 4.9% |
| Zhao | Sprout 81.3% | Sprout 79.0% | Biggest Fan 4.8% / Birkblick 5.0% |
| Sunna | Sprout 70.4% | Biggest Fan 53.0% | Both swap by mode |
| Aria | Ariel 67.7% | Biggest Fan 77.5% | Both swap by mode |
| Nangong Yu | Biggest Fan 43.7% | Biggest Fan 70.4% | Miss Esme 9.0% / 5.4% |
| Dialyn | Sprout 36.1% | Sprout 33.5% | Belion 21.8% / 25.2% |
| Lucia | Belion 51.0% | Belion 55.7% | Birkblick 17.6% / 14.2% |
| Yixuan | Belion 63.7% | Belion 61.9% | Birkblick 10.5% / 11.9% |
| Claret | Plugboo 38.2% | Plugboo 43.4% | Ultra Jake 34.6% / 28.2% |
| Rina | Plugboo 38.4% | Plugboo 43.2% | Ultra Jake 33.0% / 27.2% |
| Astra Yao | Snap 34.3% | Snap 30.3% | Plugboo 13.8% / 15.7% |
| Norma | Ultra Jake 43.2% | Ultra Jake 42.8% | Snap 15.9% / 19.1% |
| Miyabi | Biggest Fan 16.7% | Biggest Fan 21.2% | Ariel 15.8% / Snap 11.2% |
Sunna and Aria are the two to watch. Their top pick changes by mode because the teams change: in the third Deadly Assault boss fight, 93.3% of Aria + Nangong Yu + Sunna teams ran Biggest Fan. That is three Angels of Delusion Agents, so its condition is met outright.
Ultra Jake on Claret teams needs a warning. 34.6% of them run it in Shiyu and 28.2% in Deadly Assault, yet only about a third of those include Velina or Norma. Claret and Roxy carry a Flint Workshop tag, and sources disagree: the wiki's faction notes count all Roscaelifer departments as one faction, while at least one build site limits Ultra Jake to External Strategy Department members. We could not confirm it in-game. Plugboo's two-Electric condition is the safer read.
What is the best Bangboo for Phoenix?
Start with Ariel, and test Ultra Jake on your own account. Ariel is the default on Phoenix teams, because 96% or more of them include Remielle. Ultra Jake is second, and its scores are worth a look.
We compared the same three Agents, keeping only runs where all three were at Mindscape 0.
| Squad, all at M0 | Mode | Ariel median | Ultra Jake median | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remielle + Phoenix + Velina | Shiyu | 37,446 (584 teams) | 40,375 (155) | +7.8% |
| Remielle + Phoenix + Velina | First Deadly Assault boss | 31,193 (1,474) | 34,377 (646) | +10.2% |
| Remielle + Burnice + Velina | Shiyu | 35,475 (338) | 37,346 (115) | +5.3% |
| Remielle + Burnice + Velina | First Deadly Assault boss | 25,783 (640) | 30,003 (227) | +16.4% |
Do not read that gap as pure Bangboo power. The files do not record W-Engines, Drive Discs or Bangboo copies, and Ultra Jake players look stronger overall. Their other teams, without Remielle or Velina, also beat those of Ariel players: by 4.9% and 6.7% in Shiyu, and 3.1% and 11.1% in Deadly Assault, for the Phoenix and Burnice groups. That covers the whole Burnice gap in Shiyu and part of the others. Across all Mindscapes, total Mindscape on the Phoenix squad is almost identical either way (1.50 with Ariel, 1.53 with Ultra Jake in Shiyu), which rules out only one explanation. Ultra Jake deserves a run on your own account, but this does not prove it beats Ariel.
The Ultra Jake condition is easy here: Velina satisfies the one Roscaelifer requirement. When any squad member triggers Vortex or uses a Chain Attack, all squad members gain Energy and Ultra Jake's Active Skill deals more DMG for 45 seconds. Sources disagree on the base DMG figure (30% on the wiki, 25% elsewhere), so we are not quoting one here. For the rest of the build, see our Phoenix guide.
One r/ZZZ_Official commenter said of Remielle + Velina teams: "damage comes from Remielle and Velina, 3rd character doesn't make that big difference, as long as it's anomaly." Our medians back that in Shiyu, where Phoenix leads Burnice by 5.6% with Ariel, but not on the first Deadly Assault boss, where the lead is 21.0%.
Why do Bangboo rankings swing between cycles?
Bosses and modifiers change each cycle, and usage moves with them, though the data cannot prove the cause. Do not rebuild your roster after one bad cycle.
| Bangboo | Mode | Lowest, 3.1.1 to 3.3.1 | Highest | Now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ariel | Shiyu | 16.62% | 62.22% | 62.22% |
| Biggest Fan | Deadly Assault | 9.29% | 38.04% | 38.04% |
| Belion | Deadly Assault | 9.53% | 44.85% | 18.88% |
| Sharkboo | Shiyu | 1.56% | 10.09% | 1.56% |
| Plugboo | Shiyu | 1.56% | 18.20% | 17.56% |
Ariel's rise is the clearest structural trend. It arrived with Remielle in Version 3.1, and Remielle went from 23.99% to 73.83% Shiyu usage over these snapshots. Plugboo has also held above 13% for three snapshots. Sharkboo's low lands in the same snapshot as Miyabi's drop to 7.61%, which points to the stage more than Ice, but the data cannot prove it. Miyabi's swings are covered in our ZZZ tier list, and team cores are in ZZZ best teams.
Bangboo duplicates add a wrinkle. Lucia + Yixuan + Dialyn teams have only one Yunkui Summit Agent and one Krampus Compliance Authority Agent, so Belion or Birkblick needs three copies to switch on its Additional Ability there. At M0, Birkblick led Belion by 6.6% in Shiyu (33,442 vs 31,369, 176 vs 726 teams) and 6.1% on the second Deadly Assault boss (27,572 vs 25,988, 63 vs 253 teams), but only 1.6% on the third (20,675 vs 20,350, 30 vs 165 teams). The same warning about unrecorded gear applies.
How does the Bangboo Channel work?
The Bangboo Channel, called An Outstanding Partner, is permanent. It costs Boopon, not Polychrome, and the two cannot be exchanged. One Boopon buys one Signal Search. It unlocks through Chapter 1: Intermission, when the Turbo Remodeling Shop opens.
| Rank | Base rate | Including guarantee | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-Rank | 1.000% | 2.000% | Your selected S-Rank Bangboo |
| A-Rank | 15.000% | 18.000% | One of 12 A-Rank Bangboo |
| B-Rank | 84.000% | 80.000% | A B-Rank W-Engine, not a Bangboo |
Roughly 80 of every 100 Boopons return a W-Engine. Ten searches guarantee an A-Rank or higher, and 80 guarantee an S-Rank. Counters are separate from the Exclusive and W-Engine channels, so Boopon pulls never feed an Agent guarantee.
Before you search, you must pick a target S-Rank. Any S-Rank you hit is that target, so there is no fifty-fifty, and you can change target at any time without losing your count. If you have a target you want now, pull for it. An S-Rank uses up your count on the current target, so if nothing on your roster needs a Bangboo, saving Boopons is reasonable. Otherwise re-point the target as your teams change.
Of the 20 A-Ranks, only 12 are in the pool. Bild N. Boolok, Booltergeist, Booressure, Brawlerboo, Excaliboo, Knightboo, Luckyboo and Overtimeboo come from Hollow Zero, events and shops instead. So 33 of the 41 Bangboo are pullable.
Is it worth pulling Bangboo in Version 3.3?
Yes, if your first target matches an Agent you already run. The V3.3 notice adds no new Bangboo, so nothing new competes for your Boopons this version. Spend in this order:
- Ariel if you own Remielle.
- Sprout if you own Ye Shunguang.
- Ultra Jake if you run Velina or Norma and already have Ariel.
- Biggest Fan if you run two or more of Aria, Sunna and Nangong Yu.
- Belion for Yunkui Summit teams, Plugboo for Electric teams.
- Snap when no specific match remains.
The next free Boopons are close. The "En-Nah" Into Your Lap login event pays Boopon ×10 for a total of 7 login days, running 2026/11/11 10:00 to 2026/12/01 03:59 server time. You need Inter-Knot Lv. 5, the Main Story Prologue done and the Event feature unlocked. Boopons also come from HoYoLAB web events, the Signal Shop's Bangbuck exchange, Hollow Zero rewards and the New Eridu City Fund.
Five faction S-Ranks drop from two faction members to one at three copies: Mercury, Belion, Birkblick, Biggest Fan and Miss Esme. That is the best argument for duplicates. Elsewhere, a first Bangboo for a team you run without a match usually beats another star.
What is not confirmed yet?
- No Version 3.4 Bangboo has been announced by HoYoverse as of 2 November 2026.
- Severian's fit is unknown. Severian arrives in Phase II on 11 November, HoYoverse has published no kit text yet, and Wind has no Attribute specialist. We will not guess a best Bangboo before the kit lands.
- Ultra Jake's future is open. Sunbringer's record card shows Roscaelifer, but whether Sunbringer meets the condition cannot be checked until release. Track the roster on our upcoming characters page.
- Exact Bangboo star scaling is not published by HoYoverse beyond each Bangboo's own skill text.
The next dataset snapshot is expected around 8 November, based on the usual 13 to 15 day cadence, and it will be the first Shiyu data with Phoenix available for a full cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Bangboo in Zenless Zone Zero? Ariel, at 62.22% Shiyu Defense usage and 47.59% in Deadly Assault, but only if Remielle is on your team. Sprout is the equivalent for Ye Shunguang. For a Bangboo with no team lock on its main buff, take Snap.
What is the best Bangboo for Phoenix? Ariel is the most used at 70.1% of Phoenix teams in Shiyu Defense. Ultra Jake is second, and it posted higher median scores on matching M0 teams in both modes, so it is worth testing if your squad includes Velina.
Are S-Rank Bangboo better than A-Rank? Endgame players clearly prefer them: A-Rank Bangboo appeared on about 3.5% of teams. Usage does not prove the gap, since the few teams running an A-Rank can still score well. Before you own a matching S-Rank, a free pick like Booressure is still fine.
Is the Bangboo Mech a new Bangboo? No. The V3.3 notice lists the Bangboo Mech under New Gameplay: "Proxies can take control of a Bangboo Mech to fight enemies during the Main Story and while exploring Quietude Isle." It is not a squad Bangboo from the channel.
Is Robin the Bangboo the same as the new Agent Robin? No. Robin the Bangboo has been playable since Version 1.7 and needs a Mockingbird Agent. Robin the Honkai: Star Rail crossover Agent received an Agent Record on 24 October 2026, and that record card shows the Unknown Realm faction.
What is the Bangboo Channel pity? Ten cumulative searches guarantee an A-Rank or higher, and 80 guarantee an S-Rank. An S-Rank resets the count, and you always get your selected target.
Can you buy Boopons with Polychrome? No. Boopon cannot be exchanged with Polychrome. If you are looking for free pull currency, see the Zenless Zone Zero codes page.
