FC 27 End of Match Rewards Explained: Match Coins, SP and What Happens to Weekly Rewards

Quick answer: End of Match Rewards are FC 27's new reward channel: Match Coins and SP (Season Points) paid immediately after a match in select modes, instead of most of the value waiting for a weekly drop. FUT already paid small match coins — what is new is the scale, and that SP now comes with them. EA has said it expects a portion of the rewards currently tied to weekly mode rewards and Live Event Objectives to move into this system at launch — so weekly Rivals and FUT Champions payouts should get smaller, while your per-match income becomes constant and uncapped by the weekly reset. EA is also increasing the share of rewards paid as direct FUT Coins and tradeable packs. FC 27 releases 25 September 2026, with early access from 18 September for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus.

EA SPORTS FC 27 is rewriting the single most important number in Ultimate Team: how many coins an hour you actually earn. The FUT Deep Dive buried it under the FUT Gallery and Holographic Items headlines, but the Rewards section is the change that will decide whether you are grinding for a starter squad in October or already trading with a bank.

The short version: FUT has spent a decade concentrating rewards into Thursday-morning envelopes. FC 27 takes a slice of that envelope and pays it out match by match instead.

Current FC 27 phase: pre-launch. The Web App is expected around 16 September 2026 (EA has not confirmed that date), early access opens 18 September 2026 for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus, and global release is 25 September 2026. FC 27 Lite, the free preview, unlocks 25 September 2026 at 16:00 UTC.

What are End of Match Rewards in FC 27?

End of Match Rewards are exactly what the name says: a reward payout that lands the moment a match ends, rather than at a weekly reset. In FC 27 that payout is made up of two currencies you already understand — Match Coins (FUT Coins credited straight to your club) and SP, the Season Points that push you up the Seasonal Ladder.

One clarification most launch coverage gets wrong: Match Coins are not new. Ultimate Team has paid coins after every match for years, calculated from skill rewards, a DNF multiplier and completion/competition awards, and FC 26 added instant per-match Rivals Bounties on top. What FC 27 changes is the size of that payout and the fact that SP now flows through it too, funded by value pulled out of the weekly envelope.

Here is EA's own framing, verbatim from the FC 27 FUT Deep Dive Pitch Notes:

"In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, we're introducing End of Match Rewards as a major part of this work. At launch, we expect a portion of the rewards associated with weekly mode rewards and Live Event Objectives to move into Match Coins and SP earned after playing a match in select modes."

— EA SPORTS, EA SPORTS FC™ 27 | FUT Deep Dive, ea.com, 2 August 2026

Three words in that quote do a lot of work, and most coverage has skipped them.

"A portion." This is not a replacement for weekly rewards. Rivals and FUT Champions rewards still exist; a slice of their value is being relocated. EA has not published the split.

"Select modes." End of Match Rewards are not confirmed for every mode. EA has not named which modes are in and which are out — assume Rivals and Champions are the core, and treat anything more specific as speculation until the Launch Update Pitch Notes.

"We expect." EA hedged its own sentence. The system is confirmed; the exact scope at launch is not.

EA's own Rewards slide from the Deep Dive presentation is blunter than the prose. Under the headline "Every match moves you forward" it lists three bullets: End of Match Rewards — more Coins & SP after every match; More Flexible Rewards — more FUT Coins & tradeable packs; More Choice Through Tokens — evergreen & time-limited Tokens. That is the whole reward philosophy on one card.

Why is EA changing how rewards are delivered?

Because the current model punishes you for playing the mode you like. EA states the problem directly in the same Pitch Notes:

"Currently, much of the rewards in Ultimate Team are concentrated in weekly mode rewards, Objectives, and other multi-match requirements, meaning players often need to complete several matches before receiving rewards. It can also mean earning fewer rewards overall by continuing to play in a preferred mode after weekly rewards have been completed."

Anyone who has finished their 15 Champions games by Saturday and then played 20 more Rivals matches for a few hundred coins a game knows the feeling. EA lists three intended fixes: a clearer sense of progression after every match, a tighter link between the Seasonal Ladder and actual gameplay, and the ability to keep earning in your preferred mode after your weekly rewards are done.

That last point is the real prize. Under FC 26 rules, the bulk of your weekly coin income was effectively set by your Rivals division and Champions rank — match coins were a rounding error next to the Thursday envelope. In FC 27, more of that income moves with volume.

What changes in the weekly rewards you already know?

Nothing about Rivals or FUT Champions structure has been confirmed for FC 27 — EA has not published division counts, points thresholds, reset times or reward tables for the new title. What it has confirmed is the direction of travel for the value inside them.

Reward sourceFC 26 modelFC 27 direction (EA-confirmed intent)
Division Rivals weekly rewardsFull value paid at the Thursday resetKeeps existing; a portion of value moves to per-match payouts
FUT Champions weekly rewardsFull value paid at the weekly resetKeeps existing; a portion of value moves to per-match payouts

Per-match incomeMatch Coins already paid every match (skill rewards × DNF multiplier + completion/competition awards), plus FC 26's instant Rivals BountiesExpanded: bigger Match Coin payouts and SP after every match in select modes
Reward currency mixHeavy on untradeable packsLarger share as direct FUT Coins and tradeable packs
Event TokensIntroduced in FC 26's World's Game UpdateContinue in FC 27 across evergreen and event programs

If you want the FC 26 baseline those changes are measured against — divisions, points-per-win, reset timing and the qualification path — our FC 27 Division Rivals rewards guide lays out the mechanics EA is expected to carry over, clearly marked as unconfirmed.

What are Match Coins and SP actually worth?

Nobody knows yet, and any site telling you a number is inventing it. EA has published no per-match coin values, no SP-per-match figures and no split between weekly and per-match rewards. The Launch Update Pitch Notes, which EA says will cover the FUT live-service plan closer to launch, is where those numbers should appear.

What you can model right now is the shape of the change:

  • Your floor goes up. A losing Rivals match today pays a token amount of match coins and no ladder progress. In FC 27 it should pay a meaningful Match Coin sum and SP.
  • Your weekly envelope shrinks. A portion of the value currently sitting in the weekly Rivals and Champions payouts is moving out of it. EA has not said how big that portion is, or which reward tiers absorb it.
  • Volume beats rank more than it used to. Two hundred matches at a mediocre rank may now out-earn eighty matches at a high one. That is a genuine strategy shift for anyone who grinds for coins rather than for cards.
  • Tradeable share rises. Direct coins and tradeable packs are liquid. Untradeable packs are not. This is the single most trader-friendly line in the whole Deep Dive.

How does this fit FC 27's wider progression rebalance?

End of Match Rewards do not exist in isolation. EA is rebalancing squad progression across the entire season, and the rewards change is the delivery mechanism for it.

The confirmed pieces, all from the same Deep Dive:

  • Maximum PlayStyle+ per item drops from five to three. Fewer god-cards, flatter top end.
  • Roughly five fewer weeks per year feature a Campaign Squad, so major promos stand out more.
  • All special items get Role++ familiarity across every role in their primary and secondary positions.
  • End-game items are targeted to be meaningfully less boosted relative to base items than in FC 26.

EA's squad-upgrades slide compresses the whole plan into four words: "slower to strong, faster to elite." Then the line that matters most for your first month, quoted from the Squad Upgrades section: progression "through the earlier stages of squad building to establish a strong squad will require more engagement, while building an elite squad will become more achievable through continued play and skill."

Read that carefully. The mid-game is getting harder and the end-game is getting easier. The gap between "starter squad" and "strong squad" — weeks two to six, roughly — is the part EA is explicitly slowing down. That is precisely the window where most players either buy a pack or quit.

What does this mean for your launch-week coin plan?

Three practical adjustments.

1. Play more matches, earlier. If a portion of reward value now arrives per match, the compounding starts on day one. Under FC 26 logic there was little point grinding Rivals on the Friday of launch week before your first weekly reset. Under FC 27 logic, every match pays.

2. Do not bank on the carryover package. Your FC 26 carryover rewards do not arrive at launch — EA delivers them across three dates in October. Full breakdown in our FC 27 carryover rewards guide. Your first fortnight runs on what you earn and what you trade.

3. Front-load the market, not the packs. With a larger share of rewards paid as direct coins and tradeable packs, launch-week trading gets more capital to work with. The classic launch-window plays — bronze/silver fodder, first-owner premium, sniping the panic-sell wave on day three — are covered in our FC 27 trading and coin methods guide, and they matter more this year, not less.

One more thing worth internalising: Streamlined SBCs let you submit duplicates and make partial progress against a score target rather than building a rated squad. Combined with a bigger tradeable share of rewards, dupes stop being dead weight. Our FC 27 Streamlined SBCs explainer walks through the scoring system.

What are players actually saying about it?

Reaction on r/EASportsFC and r/fut is split, and both halves are worth hearing.

The optimists point out that per-match rewards remove the worst part of the FUT week — playing the mode you enjoy for zero return once the weekly envelope is claimed. That is a real quality-of-life win, and it disproportionately helps casual players who never finish 15 Champions games.

The sceptics read "a portion moves" as "the headline number gets smaller and the difference gets sold back to you." One upvoted comment on r/EASportsFC this week did the maths on the top-tier edition — five season passes and 10,000 FC Points dripped over five monthly drops — and called it a structure designed to keep you playing for half the cycle just to collect what you already paid for. That criticism is about editions, not End of Match Rewards, but it explains the default suspicion any reward change now meets.

Both readings survive contact with the evidence, because EA has not published the numbers. Judge it on the Launch Update Pitch Notes, not on the announcement.

Do Event Tokens still exist in FC 27?

Yes. Event Tokens, introduced during FC 26's World's Game Update, continue in FC 27 across "various evergreen and event specific programs across the year", per the Deep Dive. They remain a choose-your-reward currency earned across different modes, which fits neatly with the flexible-rewards philosophy EA summarises as "more immediate rewards that support choice and experimentation."

Tokens now sit alongside a second FC 27 token type — Gallery Tokens, which are earned by grading Gallery Sets and spent in the Gallery Token Store on kits, badges and Hall of FUT items. They are separate currencies with separate stores; do not confuse them. The FC 27 FUT Gallery guide covers the Gallery side.

Need the coins without the grind?

If FC 27's slower mid-game is not something you want to live through, that is exactly what our services exist for. Everything is delivered by real players — no cheats, bots or injectors — and we are honest that EA's User Agreement prohibits coin transfers, so there is always residual account risk. Comfort Trade and paced delivery are how we keep it low, not how we claim it is zero.

FAQ

What are End of Match Rewards in FC 27? A reward channel that pays Match Coins and SP (Season Points) immediately after a match in select modes, instead of concentrating reward value in weekly Rivals and FUT Champions payouts. Match coins themselves are not new to FUT — the bigger payout and the SP are. EA confirmed the system in the FC 27 FUT Deep Dive on 2 August 2026.

Will FC 27 weekly rewards be worse than FC 26? Smaller, not necessarily worse. EA said it expects "a portion" of weekly mode and Live Event Objective rewards to move into per-match payouts, so the weekly envelope shrinks while your per-match income rises. EA has not published the split, so nobody can tell you the net effect yet — wait for the Launch Update Pitch Notes.

How many coins do you get per match in FC 27? EA has not published any per-match coin or SP values. Any specific figure circulating before launch is a guess. Check the in-game rewards screens once early access opens on 18 September 2026.

Which modes have End of Match Rewards? EA says "select modes" and has not named them. Division Rivals and FUT Champions are the obvious candidates given the reward value being relocated, but that is inference, not confirmation.

Are FC 27 rewards more tradeable than FC 26? EA has confirmed it is "increasing the share of earned rewards delivered through direct FUT Coins and tradeable packs across the mode." It has not quantified the increase, but the direction favours traders and anyone who prefers building their club through the Transfer Market.

Do Event Tokens carry into FC 27? Yes. Event Tokens continue from FC 26 and will appear in evergreen and event-specific programs throughout the FC 27 year. They are separate from the new Gallery Tokens, which are earned and spent in the FUT Gallery.

Facts in this guide are verified against EA's official FC 27 Pitch Notes on ea.com as of 5 September 2026. Anything EA has not confirmed is labelled as such. Written by the timesaver.gg team.
